Hampstead women's pond goes trans

It's a very special women's place. Now does have changing rooms - they are very busy at peak times but not all the time. There aren't many young girls there - you have to be able to swim independently as you cant touch the bottom in the ponds - but its definitely a very special place that has felt 'very owned' by women.

Any male who insists on using female areas when there is a mixed option available (ontop of a male option) is one to watch I think. There is no reason at all for any male to use the female pond while a mixed one exists. I could understand a bit more if there was only male and female (though still think males should use the male one, obviously) but here, if you do not wish to use the areas of your sex, then you have the option of mixed. No reason whatsoever for men to use the womens, and that it has been allowed is shocking. No mention of females being able to use the male pond though, and when some females self identified as men, they were removed from the premises by police, IIRC. Yet, its fine for men in the womens. Fucking joke.

I thought it was all City of London Corporation (not a local council). Further info here including the women who put on fake beards and went to the Mens' Pond, doesn't say what happened to them

Venice Allan went to the men's pond today and did a swim. I think I may have mis-gender her actually as she's now a Gender Free non-binary man - Allan Venice.

He said that the men's pond is warmer than the women's and encourages all you other Gender Free non-binary's to go too.

Yes, but OldCrone's point is that if they use the mixed sex pond, they could do so as men. By using the women's pond, they would be having their identity as women confirmed.

This won't happen because as soon as any male enters a women's space it becomes a mixed sex space. The women will spot any male without fail and so the desire of these autogynephilic males will be thwarted. I mean, what woman is not going to be able to spot a male in a women's swimming costume, even if it is costume that is designed to accommodate "tucking"?

Unfortunately the privileged woke and never broke types love nothing more than to prove how woke they are by using the preferred pronouns, welcoming the obviously male person into the women's space (which they believe they own) and don't give a toss about women who are uncomfortable. Those women are just bigots.
It'll take a (union style) group effort to challenge this.

Can't imagine the men will have been too thrilled. They aren;t used to having to share space and are..used to getting their own way, on the whole. Which is why women will never be welcome at the mens pond, and simulataneously why men feel they have the right to invade the womens.

You might want to be a bit more specific, @radistomp - do you think that the Women’s Pond allowing in self-IDing trans women (including those who still have a penis) is good news, or are you replying to another post on this thread?

Personally, I think it is a retrograde step when penis-owners are allowed access to women’s single sex spaces.

Well, be concerned then because this decision means men - bepenised people - are welcome in the woman's pond.

'Women' who have a "bulge" (we call it a penis around here) are not women.

The Corporation runs the Ponds via a charitable trust, I believe. Charities must be run for the 'public benefit'.

I wonder how excluding several classes of the public, in favour of another class of persons already perfectly well catered for elsewhere, sits with this?

Wonder what the fine print of the trust document says, too.

There are still a hell of a lot of people who think trans means post op transsexual. I think this is where a lot of the disconnect comes in. Trans these days covers a huge range of people, including myself, the guy you know who wears womens knickers occasionally, any MRA who wants to push womens boundaries, incels who want to shame women (and especially lesbians into sex), people who just prefer the clothing usually associated with the opposite sex, AND transsexuals. And probably a fair few more too come to think of it. But yeah, those with penises are absolutely welcome. Welcome to 'self-ID'

On various Twitter / Instagram / Facebook posts (about lots of different things) I see trigger / content warnings about words on a screen but this is every single one of my actual physical and mental triggers happening in a place that was so important to me.

I found this lovely article article on Hampstead Heaths women's pond a while ago, and thought it might be appreciated on this thread. I do feel sad for all the women such as you RuddyTrees who have enjoyed this wonderful facility over the years, and now feel it is lost to them.
