It's a very special women's place. Now does have changing rooms - they are very busy at peak times but not all the time. There aren't many young girls there - you have to be able to swim independently as you cant touch the bottom in the ponds - but its definitely a very special place that has felt 'very owned' by women.

Well actually while I respect that women from a religious perspective might stop using due to this, I am not obliged by religion to swim away from men but I am still incensed by this.

Now I will never use it as I live in Ireland but I add my support to the women who need it.

And as for the total BS that it is a single sex space that allows for self id - so you can self id out of your chromosomes now??? Honestly, the fact that people with such a low level of education / intellect can be allowed to make decisions which affect all women without any dispute, is really appalling. Surely there can be a public campaign about this?

From what I remember it's only the women's pond that is governed by this consultation, the men's pond is run by a separate authority! So in practice it's become
1 men's pond for for men (not "self identifying men" but possibly transmen who pass bc of taking T/mastectomy etc only bc no one will really notice)
2 mixed sex pond
3 mixed sex pond

I loved the Ladies' Pond. It was pretty much the only, solitary good thing for women-only in this sprawling city.

Now those utter utter...words fail me...have just given it away to any man who feels like testing women's boundaries for his own sick kicks. This is an announcement to male predators of Open Season on women and kids.

Incidentally all 3 ponds are owned and operated by CoL. but I suspect the whole 'case by case' basis means they can throw women out of the men's pond but the likes of Travis and Alok can now uses the ladies pond with impunity

This isn't about 'perpetually offended groups'. This is about a council which didn't do a proper consultation according to the Gunning Priniciples, as they should. Based on their flawed and unlawful consultation, they decided to remove single-sex provisions for women. Do you think single-sex services and facilities for women should be removed?

Muslim women

Orthodox Jewish women

Women who suffer from social anxiety (last time I was there the pond was a safe space for many women with MH problems)

Lesbians

Women who just enjoy a safe space away from the male gaze

and on the opposing side, people who support the admission of people who identify as trans women

People who identify as trans women

Friends and supporters of people who identify as trans women

People with a career in the woke sector
