Lewis Moonie has resigned from the Labour party [shock]

"I’ve resigned from the Labour Party today. I was accused of transphobia by the usual suspects, and told I must attend a disciplinary hearing. My membership suspended too. Not really up to fighting it so I’ve saved them the trouble.
I feel free to carry on campaigning for women."

Maybe jones was a good person to bring along for a talk. They they can see what they are dealing with (angry hammer kid basher, call me ma’am, tube head stompers, k white etc.).

VickyEadie · 15/05/2019 16:51

I will not vote Labour again - in any election - until and unless they eject the Momentum wokey-blokey bully boys and end their almost gleeful screwing-over of women.

No party gets my vote at the moment (and the Tories never will).

Lewis Moonie
@Moonie_l
Ok folks, a short thread.

  1. On Monday I had a long conversation with my chief whip.
I refused to cancel the meeting I’d agreed to chair today. On Tuesday, I was told I was to be suspended from membership of the party, and resigned. (Happy coincidence)
  1. There followed a minor storm on Twitter, with likes in the thousands, retweets and sympathetic comments in the hundreds.
  2. Again, purely by chance, an email to the Labour Party by Aimée Challenor, referring to a Facebook post I had commented on was released.
  1. I invite you to draw your own conclusions as to whether this is happy coincidence or an organised attempt to smear me by the Labour Party.

Oh, one more thing. A party official had already sensibly told Challenor politely to get lost. This was overruled by the new compliance officer. A deliberate attempt to get at me by resurrecting old complaints already dealt with.

Good for Moonie to come out swinging and not be cowed by attempts to silence him. Twitter does have some uses and I suspect his political office protects him from Twitter’s GC banhammer.

Michelleoftheresistance · 16/05/2019 08:55

He was suspended for allowing women to speak

This. Allowing women to speak out about their rights, to put forward facts about the danger to their rights, allowing women access to their own MPs,

is transphobic.

Because it endangers the special plans of a political lobby who really, really don't want anyone questioning what they're being told. Because they know what will happen if they do. Hence the appallingly coercive and abusive behaviour used to keep people in line. THIS IS A FUCKING CULT.

It's past time everyone has to own, openly, the awful things that are involved in supporting this agenda to the extent demanded to Not Be Transphobic. Particularly MPs.

Redshoeblueshoe · 16/05/2019 08:57

So the Labour party are listening to Aimee now
WTF

"On Monday I had a long conversation with my chief whip.

I'm really shocked by this - obviously the meeting was discussing a currently controversial topic, but all of the speakers were perfectly respectable and above board. I don't understand on what grounds he would have been requested to shut it down.

Twitter exchange:

Lord Moonie, "Oh, one more thing. A party official had already sensibly told Challenor politely to get lost. This was overruled by the new compliance officer. A deliberate attempt to get at me by resurrecting old complaints already dealt with."

Twitter question: "So the new compliance officer took the word of someone whose behaviour in the green party forced an enquiry which ultimately led to them quitting? Wow."

Lewis Moonie "Bizarre, isn’t it."

Who is the new Compliance Officer?

andyoldlabour · 16/05/2019 09:21

"So the Labour party are listening to Aimee now
WTF"

When AC scuttled away from the Greens, I actually thought they may end up at Labour rather than Lib Dems.
AC has had contact with LM.

LabourLGBT+ comment confirms source of a complaint and scope of their allegations:

"We welcome the suspension of Lord Moonie, following the complaint we made about his anti-LGBT behaviour - the transphobic, homophobic and biphobic content he had regularly posted online has no place within the Labour Party. "

full statement by Melantha Chittenden Labour LGBT+ Co Chair in screen shot.

Lord Lewis Moonie response:
"Homophobic? Biphobic? I can understand your delusional state leading you to refer to me as transphobic, but these I refute utterly. I invite you to supply evidence now, or face court action for libel."

"You are aware that I have voted for every attempt to improve the law for LGBT people since I went into parliament? Nor have I ever said anything against the rights of trans men and women. I’ve left the party I loved and worked for for forty years because of people like you."

Laura Murray is the new compliance officer

DonDadaOnTheDownLow · 16/05/2019 09:31

"Swear Bear Lord" Grin

He must've had them tied up in knots given his "provenance" - no easy way to pigeon-hole him. Nothing else to say except I'm a fan girl and if Dundee weren't already my favourite Scottish city...

R0wantrees · 16/05/2019 09:36

Melentha Chittenden seems to have gone from student politics to Labour having been NUS LGBT+ Officer (Women’s Place) a couple of years ago.

www.nusconnect.org.uk/blogs/melantha-chittenden

2018 Skwarkbox article:
"LGBT Labour co-chair, former Labour Students Chair and ‘Labour Live’ disruptor Melantha Chittenden provoked outrage – and a flood of complaints to the Labour Party – among Labour members with a tweet in which she accused Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn of promoting antisemitism his whole life.

When challenged about the libellous – not to mention ridiculous – nature of her tweet, she initially tried to brazen it out:

But now Chittenden has deleted not just her tweet but her entire Twitter account. However, the Labour party has received numerous complaints with screenshots of the offending item and its complaints department is now investigating.

Twitter users have also indicated that they have lodged complaints with LGBT Labour, both demanding action against Ms Chittenden and asking why the organisation has not moved to distance itself from her comment...... LGBT Labour has long been considered to be dominated by the Labour right." (continues)

AC has had contact with LM.

Hardly a scuttle Andy, more a flounce to an open embrace surely?

As an aside Aimee Challenor is rapidly climbing the ranks of the Lib Dems, described in Coventry Telegaph as their "spokesman" after the recent local elections in Coventry:

"Aimee Challenor, Lib Dem spokesman, said: “We’re very happy with the local increase in Coventry and look forward to seeing that replicated and improved in the European elections, especially considering our gains and UKIP’s collapse nationally.”

R0wantrees · 16/05/2019 09:54

AC has had contact with LM.

There's a great deal of cross-party support amongst TRAs.

I think there was a cross-party group working together for a trans MP?

One might say that trans rights lobbying transcends party political concerns.

nauticant · 16/05/2019 09:54

Joss Prior has helpfully collated Lord Moonie's worst tweets ever for easy reference:

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 16/05/2019 10:09

the cognitive dissonance in this bunch crying over how mean and nasty LM is is a psychologist's PhD in one easy swoop.

nauticant · 16/05/2019 10:12

There's definitely scope for confusion over the use of the LM initials!

Horsewithnobakecookies · 16/05/2019 10:13

Laura Murray is the new compliance officer..

I'm already having trouble deciding if "LM" is Lord (Lewis) Moonie or Lily Madigan and now this!

RuffleCrow · 16/05/2019 10:14

One day people will look back and talk about the present day Labour party in the same way as McCarthy era America.

Not so much the Red under the Bed as the Terf you've threatened to punch in the Head. Angry

RuffleCrow · 16/05/2019 10:16

So Aimee Challenor is a Spokesman, eh? MN am I allowed to omit the 'spoke' ?

Genderfreelass · 16/05/2019 10:20

There are too many LM initials 😕 Lord M, Willy M and Laura Murray I'm getting confused!!

Genderfreelass · 16/05/2019 10:21

Ruffle 😂😂😂

nettie434 · 16/05/2019 10:26

I had wondered if Lord Moonie had been put under pressure to cancel the meeting. Looks like the timing of the resurrected tweets/Facebook posts was not a coincidence.

It is unsurprising TRA activists and supporters are always trying to ban meetings. They are worried about people hearing well presented arguments that will make them realise that not everyone who disagrees with the TRA viewpoint is a transphobic t*.
