"I’ve resigned from the Labour Party today. I was accused of transphobia by the usual suspects, and told I must attend a disciplinary hearing. My membership suspended too. Not really up to fighting it so I’ve saved them the trouble.
I feel free to carry on campaigning for women."

Lewis has been an amazing ally during this madness. Now that he's been cut free, he can continue unabated. They've really fucked up big time.

donquixotedelamancha · 14/05/2019 23:21

It really is awful, people's lives are being damaged by this batshittery. It must be deeply sad to feel you have to give up on an organisation you've dedicated your life to.

In case you read this- thank you Lewis.

Thanks Rowantrees. I saw Lord Moonie tweeted earlier about having no choice but to resign immediately - I am guessing the meeting might have been in jeopardy if he had been suspended.

is a Lord Moonie reply to a busy lawyer about a dedicated doctor:

^Are you really as dumb as you pretend? Are you aware what “personal capacity” means? And are you really so thick that you believe I would give a flying fuck what the Labour Party thinks? For the record, I think your friend is a cunt, who tries to bully women.
Is that clear?^

Thank you, Lewis Moonie.

I was brought up in the Labour Party, and have stuffed a billion envelopes and delivered a billion leaflets in my time. I learnt my feminism at the feet of Labour second-wave women, who were pioneers in A Womens Right To Choose, in campaigning for women to have the resources to escape domestic violence, all of that sort of thing. I really struggle with what the Labour Party has become now, and don't think I can vote for it. (I did vote for my local Labour MP last election, as I'd been to see him about gender identity issues and was v reassured that he wasn't a Woke Bro, though he was keeping his head firmly below the parapet.)

This has prompted me to contact my Labour candidates for the European Elections to find out if they are useless or not.

ArcheryAnnie · 14/05/2019 23:38

He will have booked the House of Lords room as a member of the House of Lords, which he remains, not as a member of the Labour Party, so I can't see any impediment to the meeting going ahead.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 14/05/2019 23:42

I’d love to see his resignation letter.
I assume the words ‘stick’ ‘arse’ ‘card’ and ‘your’ will be in their. Possibly a few ‘fucks’ too.

nettie434 · 14/05/2019 23:45

Thanks for info ArcheryAnnie

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 14/05/2019 23:46

My patents were old school labour - back when it was socialist. I don’t know what the hell it is now - jealous, vicious, anti Semitic, sexist, student politics and full of ugly wee boys.

InionEile · 14/05/2019 23:49

What is he alleged to have done that is 'transphobic'? No doubt something heinous like suggesting that the penis is a male sex organ or using the dreaded word 'woman' without prefacing it with 'cis' first.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 14/05/2019 23:50

I guess he might say what he really thinks now, no more mr nice lord!

boatyardblues · 15/05/2019 00:04

Lewis Moonie: MN’s favourite SwearBear Lord.

The meeting he is hosting sounds interesting. Are there any plans to record/broadcast it?

ArcheryAnnie · 15/05/2019 00:08

boatyardblues it's aimed at fellow parliamentarians, who might get skittish if it were being filmed, so I kind of hope it isn't being filmed.

What parliamentarians need is a semi-private meeting where they won't be blasted online or subject to deselection just for being seen in the same building as a dreaded TERF.

AlunWynsKnee · 15/05/2019 00:14

I resigned my Labour membership over this. I've campaigned for nearly 35 years.

thatdamnwoman your friend might want to think about how the Green party see non-men if this is her issue.

boatyardblues · 15/05/2019 00:19

Understood, though that’s a pretty damning indictment of the current situation.

GeordieGenes · 15/05/2019 00:32

Good. I'm glad Moonie has resigned.

He is far too good for them.

He's fair, realistic, and has a brain. Three traits not found in many Labour members.

ChattyLion · 15/05/2019 00:48

It’s a bit telling that literally nobody has posted -‘ crikey, whatever awful thing must he have done?!’
We already all assume this would be just a load of trumped up fuckwittery and silencing based around enforcing idealogical purity from the Labour Party. This is how very low Labour have sunk in our eyes and how politically homeless so many posters on here feel. Sad

On the bright side thanks to Lewis Moonie for cracking on with this meeting. He’s definitely in good company taking this stand. Flowers

FannyCann · 15/05/2019 06:48

Well he did call a certain Dr a cunt Chatty. Very bad Lewis. Grin

SophoclesTheFox · 15/05/2019 07:02

It’s a bit telling that literally nobody has posted -‘ crikey, whatever awful thing must he have done

Isn’t it, though? The wokey blokey apparatchiks have had him in their sights for a while due to his dreadful wrongthink and inability to toe whatever the line is today, so it’s no surprise really. It will be interesting to see what full bore Moonie, unconstrained by party politics looks like Grin

MindTheMinotaur · 15/05/2019 07:18

I really appreciate the stand he's taken. I'm another Labour voter that has ditched them.

Floisme · 15/05/2019 07:34

Have I got this right? He was accused of transphobia for hosting a women's meeting?

Fuck the fuck off Labour. To paraphrase Carrie Bradshaw, we need new words for 'fuck off'.

And thank you, Lewis Moonie.

ChattyLion · 15/05/2019 07:54

Unfortunately for the Labour Party those new words seem to be ‘I resign’ #labourlosingwomen

R0wantrees · 15/05/2019 09:00

Have I got this right? He was accused of transphobia for hosting a women's meeting?

Im sure Dr Moonie has had a number of accusations of transphobia made against him.
He's a medical doctor who has been challenging transactivism & standing up for Safeguarding & Women's Rights for some time

He also swears.

andyoldlabour · 15/05/2019 09:01

Madigan has predictably tweeted - "so long transphobe"

twitter.com/realLilyMadigan/status/1128428452644888579

Then attacks a female Labour councillor for supporting Moonie.

twitter.com/realLilyMadigan/status/1128433774541398017

Labour are finished, Lewis Moonie was far too good to be a part of this decaying party.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 15/05/2019 09:05

All that will be left are the fools.
