Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

A declaration.

Inspired by spending much time with some magnificent lesbians on chairs today, I have decided to draw a firm line in the sand.

From here on in, I will no longer post on any thread here about a man's opinion, unless it is a newsworthy item that encroaches on women's rights and children's safety. So, I will contribute to threads about Tatchell indulging his paedophilia apologist hobby by lobbying government about SRE, because that is a clear threat to women and children.

I will not be contributing to personal threads about men who believe themselves to be women, however sincerely, any men who hold disgusting opinions that would receive no attention at all if we weren't reposting them here or any thread thanking men for basic human decency.

I am not going to police what anyone else posts, obviously, but I am determined to encourage the women here in the value of women's spaces as places to connect with women, and the power there is in just not giving men the attention they seem to think we owe them.

Feminism is fundamentally exclusionary of males, entirely focused on the rights and protections of women, and is fucking fantastic.

Cheers!

Genderfreelass · 11/05/2019 23:02

Sounds like a good idea. It's hard not to give narcs their supply but really the best option.

Saisong · 11/05/2019 23:02

truthisarevolutionaryact · 11/05/2019 23:03

Excellent proposal Floral.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 11/05/2019 23:08

Im in

Except if the thread degrades into funny insults or recipes...in which case i might not be strong enough

FloralBunting · 11/05/2019 23:13

Nah. I'm not even going to be contributing to The Big Book Of Recipes Wot I Got While Trolling Mumsnet. No mentions of any coloured rocks or boxes of tissues.

If you'll forgive the use of the term, complete stonewall. They've had all they are getting out of me for one lifetime.

Ffs Rufus! That pic needs a trigger warning, I can almost smell the hot milk.....euwwwwwww!!!!!

Orchidoptic · 12/05/2019 02:15

I’m so jealous that you got to that event. Every time something is on, I’m either at work or I have my young daughter with me.

OhamIreally · 12/05/2019 09:12

Floral as part of my personal "walk in a straight line" project I've extended it to not even looking at males as they approach.
So I will see them in my peripheral vision and keep walking with my eyes forward as if they're not there.
It has surprised me the extent to which I feel their astonishment as we pass. It has made me realise how deeply ingrained in us it must be for women to see and take into consideration the males around us. I even see it in older boy children.
I refuse to centre males and thank you for this thread.

teawamutu · 12/05/2019 09:24

OhamIreally I'm doing that too - I've also stopped giving way to men in my lane at swimming. You want to huff and puff and show how strong you are, go in the fecking fast lane. (They never do, maybe because they'd be overtaken?) The surprise and resentment is palpable.

Orchidoptic · 12/05/2019 13:27

What is the fast lane on a path?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 12/05/2019 14:06

I try to do this

Not making any declarations because I do enjoy a good bitch every once in a while

But it’s a good thing and I’m glad you’re doing it Wink

FloralBunting · 12/05/2019 17:08

Honestly, Bernard, apart from anything else, I realised I was finding it increasingly hard to keep my temper and not post ban worthy stuff, so some strict self discipline and public accountability is required.

I will just write "He's a man and he can fuck off" here and you can all imagine me silently applying it in various circumstances.
