It's so depressing that so many women are rushing to give away OTHER WOMEN'S rights and careers. I wonder if Dr Shaw would be happy for men to always get first dibs on jobs in whatever field she works in?

God yes I mentioned on another thread, I'm currently reading a book by this woman! Seeing this kind of mindless cult-think from her is very disappointing. She sounds like she's just graduated from a brain washing programme.

I was probably more cross about the fact this was tweeted by a woman, than I was by the very shouty TWAW.

But her follow up tweet apologising for the response to this one, well, that just [redacted to save a deletion / MN perma ban]

Like an anthropologist, I’ve been watching my recent tweet that supports trans women.

There is some love out there.... but also so much hate and fear and gaslighting and name calling.

If you are trans, I’m so sorry the world continues to be like this. We need to do better.

It is totally a cult. I've lost some friends recently by coming out as GC. And they all say exactly the same thing, it's actually quite scary.

Wrong side of history.

All repeating the same mantra over and over. No other arguments. It's like if they say it often enough they'll make you believe too.

When I see tweets like that I just think brainless bleating

You have the privilege to sacrifice women on your altar of woke virtue, because that is what you are -PRIVILEGED. You can afford to discard female lives as casualty in your white-apologetics wake, women making 1/10th what the men do, bc your feminism isnt fucking inclusive at all

You dont care about black female MMA fighters, you dont care about lesbian wrestlers counting on a scholarship to get out of their homophobic family, you dont care about brown & Asian Muay Thai fighters who are the first women in their family competing in the sport. You dont care

All these organisations and allies that post 'transwoman are women' over and over, what do they think it will achieve? Even if I agreed with a statement I'd knee-jerk reject anything that was being forced on me like that. Does she think she can brainwash everyone else? It's so controlling and cultish.

What practical things are allies doing for the trans community?

Anything at all?

Or is it just the brainless bleating?

It would be more useful if Julia said "I know that housing is an issue for transgender people, just want you to know that I will always offer a safe haven at my place. You can kip on the floor any time". Stuff like that would actually be helpful.

I know that Helen Joyce (journalist at The Economist and who is gender critical) put up a young transgender person who was visiting the country.

But there seems to be no room at the inn with the TWAW trans ally crowd.

I had reason to be in a University / Student area of one of the more "woke" cities. The lack of black and asian people was noticeable. The entire evening I saw one Chinese couple and that was it.

Perhaps the woke brigade aren't being exposed to the genuine need for intersectionality in feminism so get suckered into the TWAW stuff because they think they need to be seen to be intersectional?

It is indeed very encouraging to see the responses!
But I don’t think I’ll ever understand why seemingly intelligent, educated women state such nonsense, and 5 times in block caps. Maybe they are channelling Goebbells?

So as a 'scientist' why doesn't she consider that identity may be as unreliable and misleading as memory?
I find it hard to take her work seriously now, not least because of the mantra.

I find the whole chanted mantas, lies are truth, philosophical approach to this debate, is taken by so many non GC. The effects tho, are felt by us average Josephines' who don't have an ivory tower to retreat to when the shit hits.

She’s an academic who refuses to believe biological fact. A feminist who is happy to see fellow women disadvantaged and injured in sport and a scientist who prefers ideology over the truth. I love the George Orwell quote I’m going to make it into a bag.
