MN have deleted the thread started by Maya - who lost her job for speaking up for women- because it talks about her crowdfunding for legal costs

Here is today's times article on the case https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/tax-expert-fired-for-saying-trans-women-aren-t-women-tpqgnm9vj?shareToken=3f12f5cae61c02fd41040eb816fd37b4&wgu=2705255426441557045162977940f0d76fa1&wgexpiry=1564821162&utmmsource=planit&utmmedium=affiliate&utmm_content=22278

This will keep happening if our employers can tell us what to think against all scientific reality.
Brave Maya , l stand with you.

MrsBertBibby · 05/05/2019 11:28

CGB will be funded by grants and research funding from governments, companies, and foundations, much like most academic research.

Maya was in fact a named participatory in a successful grant application, she said, so that may need explaining to the funders

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 05/05/2019 11:31

Maya has to win. God help us all if she doesn't. I support her.

My DGM was 22 when votes for women came in. When I was at school, boys applying to Oxbridge to read English had to take an exam on either Shakespeare or Chaucer. Girls had to take both. And I remember the Equal Pay Act coming in back in 1970.

Women have had even notional equality for such a very, very short time. Less than 50 years. And now the fuckers want to steal our spaces and even our name.

In a rough quote from Germaine Greer, most women have no idea how many men hate them.

Nephilim1964 · 05/05/2019 11:33

Chances are, they'll just find another reason to remove it anyway HumberElla

Let's all walk on eggshells like good little girls shall we?

PencilsInSpace · 05/05/2019 11:34

What would need explaining to funders exactly?

BoreOfWhabylon · 05/05/2019 11:35

Please please can we NOT mention the fundraiser. It’s so important this thread is left alone.

This.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 05/05/2019 11:37

"In an email, a CGD manager said: “You stated that a man’s internal feeling that he is a woman has no basis in material reality. A lot of people would find that offensive and exclusionary.”

How far are we willing to roll back women's rights so not to offend transpeople?

WalpurgisNight · 05/05/2019 11:41

I've been thinking for a long time that development might be the next target for TRAs, because women's rights are such a huge part of the global development agenda, so it's disappointing to see that a development org has been taken over by woke think.

It will be no less than a global disaster if it takes over the whole sector, because it will mean you won't be able to research, develop policy on or implement any measures that are targeted at improving women's lives globally.

HumberElla · 05/05/2019 11:42

Nephilim lets just play the game. Good little girls or not.

happyon · 05/05/2019 11:46

Thank you Maya. Proud to support you here and elsewhere.

MrsBertBibby · 05/05/2019 11:47

What would need explaining to funders exactly?

Why she wasn't there to do the work.

Datun · 05/05/2019 11:48

Nephilim lets just play the game. Good little girls or not.

Indeed. Tedious, irritating and sexist pressure from TRAs will not stop this conversation.

PencilsInSpace · 05/05/2019 11:49

I see, MrsBertBibby. Yes, that could be awkward for them.

sausagess · 05/05/2019 11:50

Maya well done for being so brave. Please please don't settle out of court. I'm sure lots will contribute again if more is needed.

donquixotedelamancha · 05/05/2019 11:52

Crowdfunding is mentioned all the time on MN, I have never seen a Jean Hatchet link removed. I understand that the recipient shouldn’t promote or that a thread linking is not allowed, but mere mentioning is completely heavy handed.

This. There was a lot of good discussion on that thread, surely deleting the couple of posts with fundraising links would have been more proportionate?

Since it's been removed, I'll repost:

Thank you so much Maya for your courage. Many of us have experienced the pressure not to discuss the problems with self ID. Preventing professionals from discussing whether practice is in children's best interest is a dangerous situation. There are thousands cheering you on.

LangCleg · 05/05/2019 11:52

Tedious, irritating and sexist pressure from TRAs will not stop this conversation.

Nope. Never.

OvaHere · 05/05/2019 11:53

So according to this think tank you mustn't think too much or think the wrong thoughts. Got it! How progressive. Hmm

Good luck with your case Maya.

PencilsInSpace · 05/05/2019 11:56

Stonewall are already on it.

Lamaha · 05/05/2019 11:59

More likely billions of women, if we include those in other countries (excluding young woke American women). Plus the great majority of men. In fact, the belief in two distinct sexes, and that one cannot change sex, and that feeling like a woman is not enough to make you one, is very likely shared by 99% of the 7.5 billion humans on this earth.

The woke T**W population is a grain of dust next to Everest.

Lamaha · 05/05/2019 12:00

Sorry, I meant to quote this in my post above: She stands by what she says, as do millions of other women.

NellieEllie · 05/05/2019 12:02

I don’t think I have ever felt so generally fearful about any situation before. This feels like something from a totalitarian state, where an ideology based on delusion is allowed to trump objective reality. Where anyone who will not toe the line risks abuse, threats of violence, actual violence, police arrest, and loss of employment. How honestly can the government say that self Id was out for consultation when anything critical can result in such severe consequences. I am truly appalled.

Well done Maya for being brave, for standing up for what you know to be right.

happydappy2 · 05/05/2019 12:02

Maya best of luck!

Popchyk · 05/05/2019 12:04

Comments on the article in The Sunday Times are very encouraging.

TimeLady · 05/05/2019 12:07

Very supportive comments under the Times' article too. I would say that reporting on this case is evidence that the topic is clearly in the public interest - and of interest to the public - which might be relevant in the other employment tribunal case, in which The Times is currently involved. Wink

Mamello · 05/05/2019 12:12

Walpurgisnight

I also have been thinking this because there is such a disconnect between the TRA view of women and the reality of women's lives in much of the world, which TRAs have shown no signs of being concerned to address. This is because women's biological functions would have to be acknowledged. With regard to funding, despite protesting full transparency, it appears that CGD received over $860k anonymously last year in grants (who does that?) and also substantial funding from Luminate (founded by eBay founder)and Global Affairs Canada amongst others. CGD repeatedly stress the importance of gender in international development but nowhere do they mention sex and it is not mentioned in their diversity policy. It appears that sex as basis for discrimination has been erased as far as CGD are concerned.
