It is an interesting thing, isn't it?
Some straight men writing about this issue (Andrew Gilligan, James Kirkup etc) get accused of sexual fantasies about transwomen. Which rather tells you everything you need to know about who is doing the accusing.
Andrew Gilligan got flak for writing about Karen Jones last year. A few of the comments on Twitter were of the "Clearly, you are fantasising about transwomen in prison, you really want to see them naked, don't you?", that kind of thing.
And Edward Lord accused Gilligan of having a fetish about transgenderism.
And some males who identify as women and are attracted to males, seem utterly convinced that the reason that they don't get straight men interested in them is because of the social taboo (which can be overcome in time). And not that straight men don't want biological males as sexual partners. The transwomen cannot set demands, because they are lower down the gender hierarchy than straight men.
But women who write about transgenderism (whatever their sexual orientation) never get accused about fantasising about transgender people. Quite the reverse, they are told (particularly lesbians) that they should be fantasising about transgender people, but only the male ones of course.
Straight women are not routinely being told that they need to include men with vaginas as sexual partners. Because these men with vaginas are female, lower down the gender hierarchy, and don't get to set sexual demands. Or any other demands for that matter.
Demonstrates the power hierarchy, doesn't it?
Everywhere you look, it is about men setting sexual demands.
