For some odd reason, links aren't automatically turned into links in OPs, but they are in other posts.

In OPs, you have to put and around them. No idea why that is!

RuffleCrow · 24/04/2019 10:50

I imagine he'll be dropping this virtue signalling rubbish the second he meets his own kid.

theOtherPamAyres · 24/04/2019 10:53

Background:

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry held a reception at one of the royal palaces to recognise and honour people working in the field on children's mental health. Professing themselves to be big fans of Susie Green and Mermaids, the newspapers reported the Dukes' compliments and endorsement of Mermaids.

Royal patronage, like government backing, is a powerful tool when seeking funding or positions of influence. It opens doors. It reassures those who might have qualms.

Prince Harry has doubled down on his support for Mermaids and Susie Green is cock-a-hoop

Callmejudith · 24/04/2019 10:58

Surely it's transphobic to say Mermaids are anything to do with mental health??

LizzieSiddal · 24/04/2019 11:05

I wonder if Harry’s Office is aware that the head of Mermaids, took her child to Thailand for surgery which was illegal in the UK?

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 24/04/2019 11:47

I'm afraid I can't help thinking that being married to a woman who writes inspirational quotes on bananas for sex workers might be quite relevant here.

Woke feminism.

Daughterofmabel · 24/04/2019 11:51

authority and credibility that Prince Harry has
hmmm.. really? Not with me he hasnt.

RubberTreePlant · 24/04/2019 11:52

Well we knew he was dim.

Not to be an arse, but can we try and keep the forum manageable with one thread per article published? Sorry!

How so?

Needmoresleep · 24/04/2019 12:05

The Mail is also full of stuff about William and Harry not getting on: splitting the office; weird body language etc. No doubt 90% is just clickbait gossip, but stuff like this would add credibility. My guess is that William and Kate personally, and their courtiers, would want to avoid an organisation that has been so heavily criticised by senior Times journalists.

PerfPower · 24/04/2019 12:07

Uhuh... beard, white, huge privilege. Of course he supports Mermaids.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 24/04/2019 14:03

The Telegraph's report of this story starts:

"The Duke of Sussex has offered his encouragement to a controversial charity supporting transgender children..."

That adjective wouldn't have been there a year ago. It may be slow but the tide is definitely turning.

bigcomfypants · 24/04/2019 14:49

okay dokey woke blokey how are you gonna explain a gender neutral princeling to nana?

theOtherPamAyres · 24/04/2019 15:24

Too late. William and Kate endorsed the work of Mermaids in 2017.

BelleHathor · 24/04/2019 16:00

Needmoresleep the rumours about Harry and William not getting on are meant to deflect rumours about an alleged affair that the future king is having www.lipstickalley.com/threads/the-cambridge-affair-scandal-discussion.2261162/

hoodathunkit · 24/04/2019 16:12

Unfortunately both William and Harry seem to have embraced multiple personality disorder / dissociative identity disorder as well as the trans agenda.

Not surprising really as their mother was in therapy with Susie Orbach, an associate of Valerie Sinason and contributed to various batshit insane "academic" papers endorsing SRA / MPD / DID.

Orbach is interesting to me as she is one of a number of high profile feminists who were responsible for promoting insane SRA related hoaxes and pseudoscience to gullible members of the public, Beatrix Campbell and Gloria Steinem being 2 others that immediately come to mind. There are more.

Beatrix Campbell promoting deranged conspiracy theories here

At least one of the "professionals" in the video, Judith Dawson, is still promoting the same conspiracy theories.

Orbach is interesting as she has for many years been a node in multiple networks of SRA believers with links to the Tavistock.

If anyone is interested in researching how feminism (more accurately some elements within feminism) has become contaminated with dubious agendas, or alternatively how royals and aristocratic families fall under the influence of dubious persons, Susie Orbach is a person of interest.

I should say at this point that, while Campbell's, Steinem's and Orbach's unusual beliefs are all demonstrably on the record and in the public domain I cannot comment on their motivations or the extent to which Campbell and Steinem still harbour such beliefs.

Orbach remains highly active in dubious mental health circles in which SRA conspiracies are promoted as real. Campbell has never, to my knowledge, recanted her beliefs or apologised to any of the people she harmed via her crusades. I have no idea about Steinem's current position on the issue.

They may very well genuinely believe in their David Icke style theories and cherish the idea that they are campaigning to save children from the clutches of satanists. Without explicit information from them it is difficult to know their current stance.

Lamaha · 24/04/2019 16:14

I wonder if they are going to withhold the baby's sex, because they are planning to raise them gender neutral; or else they will claim it was "assigned female/male at birth).
Only half kidding.
I'm pretty sure that as a woke Hollywood American she would be into that, and he would of course comply.

MockerstheFeManist · 24/04/2019 20:52

British Royals are dim. All of them. Even the ones who did History of Art, which is neither History nor Art. The last British royal with a brain was Alfred of Wessex over a thousand years ago.

They are in the PR business, and they are always at risk from their fawning acolytes who tell them where to stand and how to chew different foods.

The problem is far too many people beleive in the mystique.

FannyCann · 24/04/2019 23:38

Oh dear. Look whose endorsement and praise he has earned. It's looking bleak. ShockGrin

He’s famous about his shit ideas though. Nazi costume, naked arse in Vegas, endorsing Mermaids... stupid is gonna stupid 🤷‍♀️

Genderfreelass · 25/04/2019 14:35

It is rather amusing how trans lobby has been arguing that being trans is not a MH issue but are happy to have it grouped with MH charities if a royal says so 😂😂😂
