But the outcomes for children raised by one parent aren't as good as outcomes for children raised by two parents (as a class).

In a decent world the starting point wouldn't be 'no-one should ever get divorced then'. It would be 'people should not be compelled to stay in marriages if they don't want to. How can we ensure that this is the case while also providing equal opportunities for their children?'. But if you don't acknowledge that inequality of outcome, you can't even begin to address it - so don't pretend everything is fine because it's convenient for your political beliefs.

that may not be where Rod is coming from, but that's what I take from that last paragraph.

If Ron Liddle is making the point that single mothers struggle because of the pay gap that he just dismissed as imaginary i will eat my hat. Single mothers are more likely to live in poverty which leads to bad outcomes, but WORSE outcomes are staying with abusive men. You cant compare it to happy families that by virtue stayed together it doesn't make sense as that isn't the outcome you'd get if those women had stayed.

But give him the benefit of the doubt, what do you think of his point about the pay gap?

Any support is welcome but couldn't help noting that Rod Liddle talks about himself for the first few paragraphs.

It is purely political belief that he thinks Africa isnt being negatively affected by colonialism as there is no way to prove it one way or another.

I dunno Guyliner, you'd have to ask Rod. are we not allowed to talk about him because you don't like him?

Honestly? I don't like to consider myself as any kind of -ERF, but I'd happily exclude Rod Liddle from any branch of feminism. If you asked me to define 'peak wank', I'd point to him as a prime example. Stopped clock syndrome notwithstanding.

It's very unfortunate that his argument swings to the far right in the last paragraph. Unfortunate and a shame because it does cast the rest of it in a dubious light.

Sadly he may be right about one thing. Trans ideology is damaging feminism and could bring intersectionality, originally a perfectly good idea, crashing down.

Extreme example yes!
But it’s how they started out! And that’s the point - in terms of engaging in ideas/opinions/debates then surely it’s always better to read/listen/engage with a variety of sources/people- it’s just too black and white to say this person has an opinion I don’t like so I will never engage with them again.
