Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

I am officially transphobic...

Wow... so dsd just flounced upstairs as she 'can't cope with the transphobia' after I commented on a news story where. Very PC PC complained to Sainsbury's about the 'feminine hygiene' labelling of sanitary protection wasn't inclusive enough...

I'm sad that a very intelligent 17 year old appears to be buying in to this shit, but I feel I deserve a badge of honour for flagging it...

The flounces tend o be because they cannot think of a counter argument. Had this with DSS at one stage, but he went away and thought about it, came back a few hours later with his tail betwee his legs saying I was right.

HorsewithnoGender · 11/04/2019 16:48

She calls herself a feminist and is perfectly rational about all other subjects but this one.

Really?

I suspect that your daughter is a liberal feminist. You know, the kind of feminism that pleases men.

Ask her if she thinks that being a prostitute is a "choice" that some women make.

That'll clinch it.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/04/2019 16:52

God help these young women if they ever come across an angry trans who is adamant that any romantic knockback is transphobia.

Ereshkigal · 11/04/2019 16:55

YY. And then something will eventually make them question the whole thing. Stand your ground.

GregoryPeckingDuck · 11/04/2019 16:58

Feminine hygiene products is truly horrible though. Why can’t they just call it the ‘period shit’ isle? But yes, expecting to name this isle without referring to sex in one way or another is a bit absurd.

Love this Grin

Myothercarisalsoshit · 11/04/2019 17:30

My 21 year old university student son says I am a bigot and I should just ‘be nice’. Which obviously I refuse to do.

DodoPatrol · 11/04/2019 19:02

Does he have any preference about which people you should be nice to?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/04/2019 19:06

Be nice. What to everyone? Why isn’t he being nice or don’t women count?

Be nice to people to threaten you or would do you harm?
To people who ride roughshot over your feelings because they bully you?
To people who think you as a lesser being?
To bullies and hypocrites?

21 my arse. A small child says ‘why can’t we all be nice mummy?’

S1naidSucks · 11/04/2019 19:15

She thinks there is absolutely no difference between male and female bodies if the male bodied person says they are female

So she’d happily sleep with a transman?

Tweeone · 11/04/2019 19:15

If we call it period shit aisle where the f are we going to go for other hygiene products that our female biology means some of us have to use to be able to leave the house?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/04/2019 19:16

She needs to get the ladybird book of puberty then.

NeurotrashWarrior · 11/04/2019 21:01

That Blaire white video is fab - I always give the analogy of flat earthers.

It's just, well, obvs.

NeurotrashWarrior · 11/04/2019 21:03

Can this be a new t shirt please?!

Myothercarisalsoshit · 11/04/2019 21:04

Lord you’re preaching to the choir ... I think we’ve brought up a generation of liberal kids who are just desperate for fairness and to not hurt others.

sunshinesupermum · 11/04/2019 21:07

Happy to join your club MrsNathanDrake!

*She thinks there is absolutely no difference between male and female bodies if the male bodied person says they are female

So she’d happily sleep with a transman?*

This is the thing though. When I cast my brain back to being around 20 and at uni I was of course all for the underdog. I'm heterosexual but back then found many men / boys to be twats plus the worry of rape. I experimented with snogging girls; it didn't feel right at that time though I still have always felt I could have happily settled down with a woman. I just fancied males. I could imagine that if I were in today's world I might find a transman attractive but not as much of a threat as a bloke. Back then I thought feminism had won/ wasn't needed so would possibly have felt TW need 'support.' So I can see how young women fall for it.

Also, I do remember enjoying sharing the fun of dressing up flamboyantly with lads at art school for fundraising parties (literally as anything so a man might wear a skirt but not in a cross dressing way) whereas boys at school were definitely not like that. So I could imagine some women enjoying sharing makeup tips etc.

At the same time I have always been so staunchly into biology and although I generally performed femininity with my peers I wasn't totally into it and often stuck out as a bit gnc. I just thought I was practical. So I don't think I would have been all twaw but I can definitely see how many young women do get swallowed up by it.

Ereshkigal · 11/04/2019 21:27

There needs to be the "Ladybird Book of Transgenderism" like the one of Brexit. I bet I could write one.

MilletSentToForceIt · 11/04/2019 22:50

My two DCs are both so woke, it’s like they’ve necked red bull through a straw for the whole of their university years.

DS (PPE) tells me it’s an ‘age thing’ that accounts for my being a TERF. He is 26 now, still in education, I am beginning to lose hope of any change in his views.

DD 21 (soc sci) gets it, but absolutely can’t admit to it. She (carefully) asked her tutorial group (nearly all female) which included captain of the Uni women’s hockey team, and 3 other young women that represent the uni at various sports and they all agreed that TWAW, and it would be ‘wonderful’ if they were beaten by a TW. I wondered if their parents who had paid for the classes, traipsed around county and country, purchased, washed and packed sports gear, organised their weekends, rushing from one fucking extra curricular to another for years would think the same?

WTF is going on in these places to produce such simpering handmaids?

Childrenofthestones · 12/04/2019 07:37

With 50% of the latest generation going through uni, half of them leaving with hollowed out fairly worthless in the workplace degrees, you have to wonder if there is a grand master plan to wokeyfi a generation.
Most woke kids in humanities etc have had their minds shut tight to even slightly alternative ideas.

Childrenofthestones · 12/04/2019 07:38

That's me off down the shops to buy some tinfoil.

SophoclesTheFox · 12/04/2019 07:50

She sounds like an intelligent and empathetic young women

Aye, just not to her mum, though...

Lamaha · 12/04/2019 07:54

My kids, 27 and 33, do get it but think I am on MN too much and should not let it bother me -- it will be OK, it's just a minority, it will never gain traction etc. My DD is anyway too busy with her baby to get too much involved.
My son also thinks it's obviously crazy but so crazy it's a non issue. He asks me why I'm not more outraged by the bombing of children in the middle east (which is what totally outraged him he is very political). He doesn't think it will ever affect our lives. But you have a daughter? I said. What if...? he thinks she isn't in the least susceptible she definitely believes in boys are boys and girls are girls. (It's true she loves animals and the very first thing she needs to know is, if it's male or female. She always bends over to check if a horse is a mare, a stallion, or a gelding first thing she has to know!)

MadImFurious · 12/04/2019 10:13

Don't know how to copy and paste text on phone, but...
To the posters suggesting we have a generation who are just desperate to be nice to everyone... Nope.

It's scarier than that. I know loads of people who are rabidly pro-trans but not the same about other marginalised groups (beyond vague lip service when it's easy). It's more like some kind of brainwashing, a sort of tribal thing whereby people agree with the rest of their tribe without thinking. It's all over the place in political beliefs - I don't know if it's newish or I'm just noticing it more recently! The question is, who has the power to set pro-trans bollox as the norm for so many left-wing types?
