Who should be invited to a Mumsnet webchat?

As a spinoff from the long JBP discussion I thought I'd start a thread to put that debate to one side (so don't mention him in this thread, pretty please with sugar on top) and see instead who people would like to be invited to take part in such a chat.

As I see it there are three main categories of invitee:

  • people you already know and like and would like to hear more from
  • people you already know and don't like who are due a rhetorical hauling over the coals
  • people you've heard about but want to find out more about.

Any takers?

Caroline Criado Perez has a new book out, Invisible Women, which would be interesting to hear about.

Sheila Jeffries - an incredible feminist, now living back in the UK. I'd like to ask her questions about lots of things, particularly the transing of children.

Dr Nic from Fpfw

Martina (tennis ace)

Paula Radcliffe

Kelly Holmes

Any TRA who would like to reassure us why our concerns are unfounded, provided they are not solely allowed to set the agenda or dodge reasonable and polite questions

Second Caroline Criado Perez and Sheila Jeffries.

I'd also like to have some TRAs on and hear them clearly articulating and evidencing their beliefs, twitter is not a good place for a debate, and I'd trust Mumsnet to moderate a debate fairly.

Dr JCJ

people you already know and like and would like to hear more from

That would be vote for Jane Clare Jones

Ereshkigal · 10/04/2019 19:07

All the suggestions are great.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 10/04/2019 19:11

Caroline Criado Perez

Oh yes please. She was great on the today programme

MagicMix · 10/04/2019 19:11

In category b, I would love to see Owen Jones vs the nest of vipers. I think it would be hilarious.

MagicMix · 10/04/2019 19:13

Doubt he'd be up for it, though.

RepealTheGRA · 10/04/2019 19:13

Helen Webberly

Damian Hinds

Ruth Hunt

Though I more want to tell them what I think than ask questions!

Freespeecher · 10/04/2019 19:22

Thanks for the replies so far - any nominations for category c?

Must admit Sheila Jeffries is new to me so she'd get my vote.

Gina Rippon!

Andrew Moffat.

terryleather · 10/04/2019 19:27

- people you've heard about but want to find out more about.

Pat Craven of The Freedom Programme as BadPenny mentioned above.

RepealTheGRA · 10/04/2019 19:32

Harriet Wistrich then

AbsintheFriends · 10/04/2019 19:47

Linda Riley. I mean, how does she square it?

Similarly, Sally Hines.

JackyHolyoake · 10/04/2019 20:00

Germaine Greer

Gail Dines

Sheila Jeffreys

PencilsInSpace · 10/04/2019 20:03

Some great suggestions here.

I'd like to invite the women from Pique Resilience and GNC Central.

I'd like Penny Mordaunt and NSPCC to come back and provide proper answers.

Jordan Peterson and Sally Hines debating each other would be entertaining.

Jessica Eaton

Jordan Peterson and Sally Hines debating each other would be entertaining.

I hardly think that's fair to Sally. My 5 YO daughter is available.

I would love to see Owen Jones vs the nest of vipers. I think it would be hilarious.

If we run a book on how long he lasts can I call dibs on 'refuses to answer the first question'?

R0wantrees · 10/04/2019 20:13

I'd like Penny Mordaunt and NSPCC to come back and provide proper answers.

Definitely this ^^

Pat Craven, Hibo Wardere, Jessica Eaton
Michael Cashman, Sal Brinton, Maria Miller MP, Matt Hancock MP?

Macareaux · 10/04/2019 20:13

Well given that webchats are few and far between I would only have politicians in my list*.

(As much as many of the other suggestions would be fab.)

Stephen Doughty MP
Heidi Allen MP
Chuka Umuna MP
Etc

*I'd probably make an exception to my rule for Owen Jones or maybe Peter Tatchell as they are both in desperate need of the best of vipers treatment.

Macareaux · 10/04/2019 20:14

nest, natch, but I'll take best.
