Just that really. I've written a new piece about the infamous webchat, given today's investigative piece in published in The Times.

I focus in the article on that element of the webchat. I'm worried about children's safeguarding, and the apparent lack of political leadership here.

Thanks to @MForstater and @R0wantrees.

I hope Maya Forstater writes more. She is very good at analysis - which is what we need more of right now to find out just where we are with this situation involving children.

EleanorScott · 08/04/2019 22:10

Thanks. I don't think it's terribly long. More like a 'medium read'!

Great article.

theOtherPamAyres · 08/04/2019 22:42

Another cracking article on the scandalous behaviour of politicans with a legal duty to probe or commission an investigation.

Well done Eleanor Flowers Another good one.

LangCleg · 08/04/2019 22:49

You've got a great turn of phrase, darling! And you are very clear.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 08/04/2019 22:52

Really well said.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 08/04/2019 23:04

That was great, Eleanor.

Have you put it in twitter and tagged in Penny Mordaunt? You should. She needs to see what harm her inertia is causing children.

R0wantrees · 08/04/2019 23:08

That's another great article, thank you

oops Star

EleanorScott · 08/04/2019 23:11

Thanks, all. Much appreciated. It's a different style of writing to 'academic' so I do appreciate feedback about clarity, not least because (and yes you can laugh) I bashed my head yesterday on a tree branch and have been mooching about all day in between clattering the keyboard wondering if I've got a dent in my head or I'm imagining it.

I've tweeted it, yes. I'm fairly sure SPADs will see it.

Thank you, that's a good article.

It really does boil down to:
"this is about safeguarding children"

Yes.

BadPennyNoBiscuit · 08/04/2019 23:19

I have more faith now in a handful of journalists and bloggers than I do in any of the current politicians.

Ereshkigal · 08/04/2019 23:24

Great piece Eleanor, thank you Thanks

EleanorScott · 08/04/2019 23:57

I've tweeted it @PennyMordaunt, just to be sure.

What constitutes promotion in schools?

This is an excerpt from a secondary schools Transgender Policy (the school/trust have no Equality Policy). Given that it explicitly mentions pupils being able to get help from one of many GIC's in its policy I would be surprised if they don't mention these clinics/medication to children or their parents

Gender Dysphoria
This is a clinical condition that can present from a very early age and can only
be diagnosed by a medical expert. A person diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria may require
treatment, e.g. hormone blockers to delay puberty, before being prescribed hormones of
their desired gender. A transgender person may live their life without being, or needing to be
diagnosed as having Gender Dysphoria. Diagnosis and treatment for young people is
available from specialist Gender Identity Clinics (GICs) – of which are available in many
locations across the UK. It must be understood that some people with Gender Dysphoria
may not want any treatment. Some may choose to be known by a different name or to wear
different clothes. However, most or all young transgender people (and their families) will
need some expert support as they grow up and develop.

They must have one.
It should be available to staff, parents & pupils
The Governors or Trust board should be contacted for a copy.

Its a very serious issue if not available.

LeftHandDown · 09/04/2019 11:13

I have contacted the CEO of the Trust
The head of the school, no response from either. I'm doing the Governor's this week
