Just that really. I've written a new piece about the infamous webchat, given today's investigative piece in published in The Times.

I focus in the article on that element of the webchat. I'm worried about children's safeguarding, and the apparent lack of political leadership here.

Thanks to @MForstater and @R0wantrees.

I hope Maya Forstater writes more. She is very good at analysis - which is what we need more of right now to find out just where we are with this situation involving children.

January 2018 Times Education article
'Schools rushing ‘on whisper’ to label pupils as transgender
A psychologist at the only NHS gender clinic for children in England says some may be making choices they could regret'
(extract)
"Children as young as 11 are being offered medical treatments that could leave some infertile, according to a psychologist at the only NHS clinic in England and Wales for children seeking to change their gender.

Bernadette Wren, consultant clinical psychologist at the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) clinic in London, said some schools were moving too fast in allowing young girls to be treated as male pupils and vice versa — simply at the child’s request.

She said schools were rushing to allow pupils to change their names, uniforms and gender pronouns as soon as they “got a whisper that a child might be querying their identity” and this was not in every child’s best interests." (continues)

LeftHandDown I hope you have a prompt response from Governors.

Equality & Diversity in school is a key Ofsted focus.

A powerful article that lays everything out with absolute clarity - thank you, Eleanor. I'm not on Twitter but should it also be sent to Maria Miller? She is still Chair of the Women and Equalities Select Committee and the one, after all, who first opened up the whole sorry business.

theOtherPamAyres · 09/04/2019 12:45

should it also be sent to Maria Miller?

As an alternative, I think we need to open up communication with new members of the Commons Select Committee.

Joined June 2018:
Sarah Champion, Labour, Rotherham
Tulip Siddiq, Labour, Hampstead and Kilburn
Angela Crawley, SNP, Lanark and Hamilton East

Joined November 2018:
Anna Soubry, Independent, Broxtowe.

Very soon, MPs won't have much time for the likes of Maria Miller, Jess Philips and Philip Davies. The Committee generated a shite storm with their preposterous recommendations on gender identity. The Women Question isn't going to go away now that the transing of children is a hot potato. MPs won't thank Mordaunt for proving so inept at handling the shitestorm.

It's time to look to the new ones.

SingingLily · 09/04/2019 12:53

A good point. Sarah Champion particularly has no fear of speaking the truth.

EleanorScott · 09/04/2019 13:38

Sound advice, to look at (and send to) members of relevant select committees. Thanks.
