I think some people will have provided addresses in the past if they've won competitions, but I think that if these were retained they'd have been flushed out when GDPR came in.

I wouldn't expect @MNHQ to comment on any ongoing legal matters, but perhaps they might like to clarify what data they actually hold - afaik the only thing would be the email, and perhaps temporarily IP addresses solely for the purpose of troll and spam limitation.

DeRigueurMortis · 08/04/2019 15:58

Errol MN publish what data they hold in their privacy policy which is available on the site.

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 08/04/2019 16:00

Thanks - I have found it: I hadn't given any info, I didn't think I had, but I didn't know how to check!

I'm another who is baffled by what SH is actually intending to do with this info?

Saucery · 08/04/2019 16:07

The competitions and Insight panel details were always separate from the login details and as such may not be deleted even if you have expressly asked for them to be. Whether GDPR has had any impact on that I don’t know - it should have, but who knows.

PurpleCrowbar · 08/04/2019 16:07

I'm reading it entirely as 'bwahahah! I know where you live & now I can find out where your kids go to school! & I've got some mates who are even less hinged than I am!'

Pour encourager les autres stroppy women to STFU.

It's not going to wash.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/04/2019 16:09

Yes, of course - thanks.

It's here:

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 08/04/2019 16:10

SH goes after 'Jane Smith' legally for erm, sharing true information that's in the public domain?! Because that didn't pan out so well for Helen Islan, right?

As a PP said, I suspect that Hayden would use the information for harassment. If they had a legal case the police.could have asked for the info.

PalatineUvula · 08/04/2019 16:13

BTW regarding this data request, I assume:

the R v Anthony George Halliday.pdf came out of some kind of paid-for legal database, implying someone working in the legal profession

So Hayden might have specific reasons for wanting to know that person's identity.

Obviously the publication of the demand is intended to have a chilling effect on speech on here/self-aggrandisement.

PalatineUvula · 08/04/2019 16:15

I'm sure btw someone has saved a copy of it and Hayden must know that it will end up reposted but Hayden hasn't really got a reputation to preserve, not being in a regulated profession (solicitor or barrister), so the 'Streisand effect' isn't a problem here - it's more personal.

thirdfiddle · 08/04/2019 16:15

If someone were to obtain information purportedly for the purposes of bringing a court case (presumably, or something like that, you can't just go to court and ask for data for laughs) then use it or share with others for the purposes of harassment, wouldn't they be in legal deep water themselves?

nauticant · 08/04/2019 16:21

Let's say MN do know that that user is Jane Smith of 1, High St, Anytown. & they release that to the 🏌️‍♂️ who identifies as a lawyer.

SH goes after 'Jane Smith' legally for erm, sharing true information that's in the public domain?! Because that didn't pan out so well for Helen Islan, right?

I think the way it works is that Hayden probably has sufficient legal knowledge to start an action in the High Court meaning Jane Smith will either have to spend thousands of pounds getting legal advice and putting a defence in place or roll over immediately to avoid losing a load of money and hand victory to Hayden. If Jane Smith had the resources, in terms of energy, time, and money, she could fight but even if she won, or at least saw off Hayden, she would recover either none or only part of the money she'd spent. Recovering any money would be an utter pain in the arse.

nauticant · 08/04/2019 16:25

I'm another who is baffled by what SH is actually intending to do with this info?

It's not necessarily about doing anything with the information. It is to make each of us worried that we, individually, might become the target of an action.

Litigation isn't about what happens in court. It's about applying pressure to get the outcome you want. Preferably without needing to go to court.

MsMcWoodle · 08/04/2019 16:25

I see Haddock's still at it with the golfing jokes.
And we're all not supposed to know what it's about.
Tick tock, tick tock...

PalatineUvula · 08/04/2019 16:29

SH has done various things, including getting glinner to spend tens of thousands on legal fees, I believe there is a case against a transsexual lawyer, and so on.

It seems like a hobby.

nauticant · 08/04/2019 16:31

And yes, the continual nods towards Hayden's conviction of affray for threatening someone with a golf club is nuts. But then as I keep saying, they can't help themselves.

Ereshkigal · 08/04/2019 16:33

But then as I keep saying, they can't help themselves.

They really can't.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 08/04/2019 16:34

Thanks for the tip about checking your info. Just checked mine and I found that MN are requesting gender instead of sex Hmm

Hayden and their latest case
MsMcWoodle · 08/04/2019 16:34

What really makes me laugh is Hayden posturing about Mumsnetters hiding behind anonymity while they are hiding behind a previous name.

Keeg · 08/04/2019 16:36

Woah!

ErrolTheDragon · 08/04/2019 16:37

Yes, that's been noted before, cashmere. On a site which couldn't possibly exist without an accurate understanding (and use of!) dimorphic sex. Hmm

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 08/04/2019 16:38

That twitter thread.

How they loathe women with opinions.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 08/04/2019 16:40

Ah sorry errol hadn't seen it before.

I suppose I shouldn't really be surprised because it's so widespread to misuse the two terms that even police, councils etc are getting it wrong in their list of Protected Characteristics.

littlbrowndog · 08/04/2019 16:42

I find it really weird how the 2 of them are just not getting on with their lives It’s like a biazzare obsession and the hours of time put into must be huge

But why

We are not going to shut up and all clear off so what’s the end result do they want
How can adults behave like this and not look outside on how they seem to others

Weird behaviour

ErrolTheDragon · 08/04/2019 16:47

Wait a mo, they've still got 'gender' on the child question, but above it (on the iPad app version') you used to be able to specify your 'gender') but now it dodges that by just saying 'I am' ... and as the choices are male or Female I'll accept that as meaning sex. Good!Smile

Come on, @MNHQ, please do something similar re the kids, they really don't have a 'gender'!
