They also got contacted by Hamish Mackay, a BBC journalist- surprise surprise

Now SH has obtained a court order asking for information on a particular MN poster. MN have probably looked at their database, realised that what they have on that user is, name, Stinky Bummface, Email address, [email protected] and gone whatevs

But isn't that a worry? Shouldn't MN attempt to defend these demands. Otherwise isn't a precedent set in that all of our accounts are vulnerable to this type of attack?

It was Helen someone from mermaids, and yes, thrown out. There is no chance a few posts on MN constitutes targeted harassment esp if they only know from stalking this site.

Let's say MN do know that that user is Jane Smith of 1, High St, Anytown. & they release that to the 🏌️‍♂️ who identifies as a lawyer.

SH goes after 'Jane Smith' legally for erm, sharing true information that's in the public domain?! Because that didn't pan out so well for Helen Islan, right?

I mean, if it were me I'd be worrying more about a campaign of harassment similar to the one Caro has been subjected to.

It's not a credible legal position, surely, for SH given recent events & their track record.

Won't this just encourage people to do more research, and archive it better and be less identifiable online; rather than just say 'aah well, I don't want to get into trouble now'?

SH has no hope of a prosecution. So if their intent is to scare women from talking, they really are wasting their money.

Shame they can't do something more useful with their hard earned cash.

Especially if SH's 'take down' of Jane [whoever s/he is] gets in the press, as they will have to then mention what the facts that Jane linked to actually were. Which then becomes the story itself.

When you're on the page with your email and user name, there's a heart at the bottom of the page. Click on that and a page comes up with your name, age etc and those of your kids if you filled it in when you joined. (Because some of us signed up for parenting tips not knowing we'd corkscrew into political activism or whatever this is! )
