Harrop is unbearably pompous.

"This cannot and will not stand. They will be pursued in accordance with the prescribed legal process, and will be held to account for their failure to comply."

Utterly ridiculous. What an arse. No they won't. They've complied.

Xenia · 11/04/2019 20:22

According to this - "former legal executive" www.legalcheek.com/2018/10/transgender-lawyer-sues-father-ted-creator-for-allegedly-publishing-tweets-containing-her-former-male-name/
"Lawyer" is not a protected word unlike solicitor, barrister, doctor, nurse etc. although any words used in business marketing must not be inaccurate or misleading otherwise misleading advertising legislation kicks in, but that is not relevant here.

(I think DM earlier said MN had missed the deadline and have since corrected it because it looks like MN did comply within time).

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 11/04/2019 20:23

Steph won't realise it, of course, but Steph has scored almost as much of an own-goal with this as Harrup did with his Sky TV interview with Posie Parker.

I was thinking that..indeed. TRAs are really not the brightest of people it seems. They seem to know that sunlight is bad for them, hence 'nodebate' and such, yet cannot help themselves dragging their own nonsense into the sunlight. Baffling really.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/04/2019 20:23

Just say it on your head with the voice of one of the chipmunks.

R0wantrees · 11/04/2019 20:24

I was just re-reading some threads from last August about the Transsexual Voices (short-lived) group.

Miranda Yardley's article is a useful summary & it developed MY's posts suggesting caution on the thread enthusiastically discussing TSV launch.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3337288-Transexual-voices-twitter-thread?pg=5#prettyPhoto

This though was also an interesting thread from August 2018, perhaps much more relevent to this one. It was linked in thread above.
Hmm

Wtf is a "website operating license

I can't find the tweet so I may well have misremembered. It did strike me as being an odd thing at the time, but I can't say for sure that it was actually said.

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/04/2019 20:27

Just in case some of the newer posters haven't seen this

DemisRoussoss · 11/04/2019 20:27

Could someone more intelligent/observant than me please précis what’s gone on in the past 24 hours? I know that Hayden obtained a court order for MN to supply a username’s details, but I’ve lost track now.

R0wantrees · 11/04/2019 20:32

article by the lawyer praised by TSV & others at the time:
'Gender Recognition Certificates: Why the Feminists and the Trans Rights Activists Have got it Wrong'

concludes:
"Ultimately transgender persons should see the need for society to evolve as to understanding and acceptance (in many ways it already has); however, refusing to work with society to achieve a balance of rights, respecting everyone, is not the way forward. The feminist arguments lack credibility; however, the key for trans rights activists is to retain credibility. Not everyone who identifies under the transgender umbrella should be eligible to obtain a “GRC”. The provisions of the “GRA” are for changing sex in the eyes of the law and society. This should not be possible by filling in a form as if one is seeking revocation of a parking ticket. Such an idea trivialises the concept of a “GRC” and the profound consequences that being granted one has on an individual citizen.

Western liberal democracies have evolved to accept transgender persons as well as many others. The aim of the transgender person must be to demonstrate that the class is not a threat to society. This is done by balancing everyone’s rights and accepting that society, through its laws, must have some role in the regulation of who is classed as a man and as a woman. Transphobia is abhorrent; however, transgender persons can win the argument with informed discussion, public education, respect, and a tolerance of those who do not agree with the concept.

The feminists and the trans rights activists have both got it wrong. It is in the interests of society as a whole that the tone of the debate rapidly improves, that feminists stop stating as fact misconceptions in the law, and that trans rights activists realise that legal gender recognition is not just a case of obtaining a new birth certificate."

This has to be my most favourite video piece of recent years ... it is hilarious ...

titchy · 11/04/2019 20:41

MN supplied said details as the user said they were happy for MN to do that. Details were emailed in time. SH claims details were not received didn't check spam folder and tweeted they'd be taking MN to court. Then later agreed MN had indeed supplied the details as asked for. In the meantime MN's email to SH said the equivalent of potato. Grin

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/04/2019 20:45

And the ‘mystery poster’ - did they name and shame him then? Why would a judge agree for a person to be named who had crossed swords with someone who it can be assumed will go after them publically on social media that would whip up hatred for this person?

DemisRoussoss · 11/04/2019 20:45

Thanks titchy 😂😂

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/04/2019 20:50

did they name and shame him then

I think they posted the court document showing Hayden's past misdemeanours.

Hayden has additionally complained about personal, financial, and medical info being leaked.

I assume personal is their previous names (publicly available)

Financial will be all of the companies house listings of their many many past businesses. (Publicly available)

Medical - who knows? That they are trans? (Publicly available)

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/04/2019 20:51

I meant the bad poster.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/04/2019 20:51

Why would a judge agree for a person to be named

I can only assume the judge was asleep, had no idea.of the context, and didn't realise that Hayden self IDs as a lawyer.

I suspect that after the media cover which has repeatedly name checked said judge they will be a little more careful next time.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/04/2019 20:53

Throwing the Christian to a lion then.

Although I suspect the poster who did the naughty posts wasn’t all he seemed. I think Mumsnet woz stitched up m’lud.

BettyDuMonde · 11/04/2019 20:54

Fortuitously, I happened to still have an earlier version of the DM article open in another tab.
Here are the 17:39 and 19:23 headlines side-by-side.

Sadly, I don’t have the original 16:26 one.

Excited to see what the print version will look like tomorrow!

Ma'am said that ma'am would not be sueing Roll on Friday.

Made me laugh that. Can't imagine why not Grin

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/04/2019 20:56

Can't they get someone to take a photo for them? All those selfies.

Ereshkigal · 11/04/2019 20:57

That video will never, ever get old.

ByGrabtharsHammarWhatASaving · 11/04/2019 20:59

That mail article is brilliant. I love that Steph has linked to it as if it in some way shows Steph in a good light! I was actually starting to feel a bit warmer towards them with the whole "show some common sense about trans athletes in sports", "anti self ID" comments, then I hit the "arrested in front of my autistic 10 year old and breastfed toddler for saying mammals can't change sex" bit and noped my way out of there. No one is going to read that article and feel sympathetic for Steph.

Also, quite telling that Steph opposes self ID as it'd make Seph's GRC less special, not because of the obvious harm it'll cause to women.

Bluestitch · 11/04/2019 20:59

Well Hayden's pinned tweet asking people to retweet has had less than 30 in nearly 3 hours. Hardly the trending scandal they'd hoped for.
