Sorry for the fail link but just read this and I find it unbelievable that people still don't see the issue with this. Words fail me.

This is horrible, but the article itself is good. It highlights that they can access these spaces whether they have had surgery or not.

I am horrified at this.

Spokk · 07/04/2019 08:26

Life in a refuge is hard enough without letting men in, however they identify. It takes a long time to recover and have anything to do with men and it is shit they are doing this to women and children.

The refuge I was in allowed one man in the building as a handyman only and that was hard enough, even though he was careful to keep his distance and talk to no one.

Mind you, it might not be a problem, because if all the transwomen flood into the refuges (not saying would, only could), there will be no room for women and their children anyway.

SmellsLikeAdultSpirit · 07/04/2019 08:30

He isn't a victim of domestic abuse, he is an abuser, so why is he there even allowing for the TWAW policy
It's an abusers dream

CottonDuvet · 07/04/2019 08:30

From the MOS article:

'We are very clear from the start that we do have transgender [women] and women of different faiths and cultures and beliefs through our door constantly"

Another offensive implication that women from "different cultures" are a subset of women.

RedToothBrush · 07/04/2019 08:34

Cotton. On the other hand it also inadvertently frames genderism as a faith based belief too.

JackyHolyoake · 07/04/2019 08:44

How will any of these organisations prevent a woman's abusive / violent partner, from whom she has escaped, from entering one of these now not safe spaces and causing her serious harm?

littlbrowndog · 07/04/2019 08:48

Maybe look in their souls to see

After all they let that guy in who was a violent abuser but no doubt had a good soul inside and was all a dream by the woman he abused

littlbrowndog · 07/04/2019 08:51

I mean he was only a convicted domestic abuser

What could possibly go wrong

Bit like sending a rapist to a women’s prison

What could possibly go wrong

”It’s not going to cause the outrage you think, if most readers are like my parents and assume that transgender woman means a woman who has now declared herself male.”

If your parents even glanced at the article they’d literally see the problem. Brilliant use of photographs by the Mail.

DryHeave · 07/04/2019 08:53

You don’t need to look into anyone’s soul: just take their word for it.

We would never ask for evidence of someone's sex or gender because we're open to women on a self-identifying basis.

NEVER. Never.

Bouchie · 07/04/2019 08:55

and yet they didn't let my friends 15 year old son in to a hostel.

littlbrowndog · 07/04/2019 08:57

I find this level of stupidity unbelievable. How the fuck do these idiots sleep at night

Ereshkigal · 07/04/2019 09:02

Yep.

Needmoresleep · 07/04/2019 09:03

I bet their safeguarding policy requires any male handyman/plumber to have full DBS checks...because this is a vulnerable population.

Fox in hen house.

sandpitsausage · 07/04/2019 09:06

So so awful. Must have been terrifing for those women. I'm sure it won't be long till a woman is found by her abuser who has put on a dress.

From the sound of the article (which is bloody daily mail to be fail) the reporter told Addis that women in the refuge reported being terrified and fining Addis' behaviour threatening etc, and Addis' response was that they all thought Addis was female, and that they got on with Addis.

The levels of delusion are astounding.

Reporter: they knew you were a man and were absolutely terrified of you. They found you behaviour very threatening.
Them: no no no, I was one of the girls, we got on great and they had no idea is was a man.

Sure mate, suuure.

aprarl · 07/04/2019 09:07

Sadly most people will ignore it as "it's the daily mail".

aprarl · 07/04/2019 09:07

But I'm so glad they're doing this.

ImGenderfree · 07/04/2019 09:08

It’s just fucking stupid. I’ve lost the will and ability to put a sensible argument together in the face of this insanity.

DodoPatrol · 07/04/2019 09:10

Sorry! Made the fatal mistake of reading the posts and text but not clicking the article. I think you’re right.

TheABC · 07/04/2019 09:17

On the plus side, it's well and truly spelt out. No wriggle room at all. I dislike the Daily Mail, but they have nailed the issue.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 07/04/2019 09:19

Articles like this are so important - it's horrifyingly clear. Hopefully it will be picked up by other news outlets.

But this morning, on reading it - I just despair

Needmoresleep · 07/04/2019 09:21

I assume Julie Bindel would prefer that the Guardian were giving her column inches.

Strange days.

RepealTheGRA · 07/04/2019 09:22

The daily mail are good in this issue, particularly Sanchez Manning. She’s been doing amazing work for quite a long time.

JackyHolyoake · 07/04/2019 09:27

Indeed .. one has to ask why the so-called "media on the left" persist in ignoring this issue completely. Perhaps it too has been groomed by the anti-women activist organisation that is Stonewall?

OvaHere · 07/04/2019 09:31

and yet they didn't let my friends 15 year old son in to a hostel.

Well this will be resolved soon enough when women realise they can just say their son is their daughter - no proof needed.

I would hope most women needing a refuge would understand why this isn't okay but it's yet another loophole created by this insanity.
