Madigan's latest campaign

Madigan may be seeking attention again (long track record of this), but it seems their latest campaign is to become an MEP.

In between receiving corporate freebies they want to "stand up for" and show "solidarity" for "working-class women".

GrinGrinGrin

Farage and Madigan

I'd pay good money to see that.

That's Lacey Chabert in Mean Girls

And it is very unlikely any parties will have time to select new candidates and will just rollover the existing list.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/04/2019 15:22

An MEP? As in a member of the European Parliament, which we are about to leave Confused. And doesn't Lily's dear leader disapprove of the EU too?

I thought Lily was pro brexit? Also why is Lily always changing their twitter name? It makes it very hard to distinguish between a fake account and real. Checked out the account, no blue tick but appears it might be legit. Very glad to see Lily sticking up for working class women I'm sure it's 100% genuine...

Like totally really sure.

Popchyk · 06/04/2019 15:48

From the article in The Sun.

"Friend Chloe Palmer. aged 20, said: "I was with Chantelle. She had got a Mrs Claus outfit from Ann Summers and she had stockings and make-up and her hair done".

Yep.

Comments are robust.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 06/04/2019 15:50

Popchyk That has made me errrgh again, stop it!

RedToothBrush · 06/04/2019 16:46

And it is very unlikely any parties will have time to select new candidates and will just rollover the existing list.

Because of all the pissing around some MEPs have moved house and got new jobs.

Not all will be able to / want to roll over their candidacy. Also each area has a certain number of MEPs. You need to put up more candidates than you currently have in case you win additional seats.

My understanding is that parties are struggling to get enough candidates, because no one knows if they'll never sit, only sit for 3 months, 6 months, a year or longer.

If you have a job and mortgage to pay that's a potential barrier to standing.

I think being an MEP is a harder job than an MP because it requires much more compromise to get any thing done.

If Madigan can't cope with nasty British politicians, they are going to have something of a problem with MPs from some other countries who have biological differences firmly ingrained in law and culture.

It's a very different thing to politics in the UK.

If Madigan would be out of depth in parliament, they would be even more out of depth in Brussels.

I think if Madigan did get chance to run, they might be at the bottom of a list of candidates. (sitting MEPs would get higher priority). Madigan might get bragging rights then, but not a hope in hell of being elected.

morningtoncrescent62 · 06/04/2019 16:51

Labour sent out open invitations last week to all members to consider standing - like RedToothBrush said, the parties are struggling to get candidates.

Memeface · 06/04/2019 16:55

If Madigan want to be a public figure, wouldn't Madigan have to unblock all the women people madiganself has blocked?

GCAcademic · 06/04/2019 16:56

Well, I suppose it would be the icing on the cake of our national Brexit humiliation were Madigan to represent us in the European Parliament. Seems fitting somehow.

"Brexit seems really economic and so seems different in my mind still".

Labour really has backed such a razor-sharp mind there, eh?

They must be so proud.

VickyEadie · 06/04/2019 17:31

HazardGhost

Your screenshot there is like the response to 'Alexa give me examples of what a 12-year-old might say about rich people funding organisations'.

Popchyk · 06/04/2019 17:32

And the frowning on rich people funding political candidates.

While begging on Twitter.

HazardGhost · 06/04/2019 17:38

There was so much to unpack with those two tweets I didn't know where to start.

But if you can be in love with two tweets then I am in love with those two tweets. So pure and earnest, so naive, the hypocritical nature, the selfishness, the entitlement, the way it sums up this difficult time in our political history in two tweets. It's poetry.

cwg1 · 06/04/2019 18:19

Why local Labour parties throughout the land aren't begging Our Lil to stand for office is beyond me...

VickyEadie · 06/04/2019 18:22

cwg1

You're not - surely - suggesting Lil might actually read a book?

RepealTheGRA · 06/04/2019 18:27

Has Angela Raynor come out in support yet?

RedToothBrush · 06/04/2019 18:32

This is the same Lily who has the corporate evil Teen Vogue plastered on their profile, making the anti rich people comments?

Sexnotgender · 06/04/2019 18:46

If Madigan would be out of depth in parliament, they would be even more out of depth in Brussels.

Madigan is out of their depth in high school debate club.

SirVixofVixHall · 06/04/2019 18:57

Out of their depth in the Cubs.
