Tavistock’s Experimentation with Puberty Blockers: Scrutinizing the Evidence

www.transgendertrend.com/tavistock-experiment-puberty-blockers/

"To summarize, GIDS launched a study to administer experimental drugs to children suffering from gender dysphoria. Between 2010 and 2014, puberty blockers were given to 50 children. This study yielded only one published scientific article on outcomes. It showed no evidence for the effectiveness of GnRHa: there was no statistically significant difference in psychosocial functioning between the group given blockers and the group given only psychological support. In addition, there is unpublished evidence that after a year on GnRHa children reported greater self-harm, and that girls experienced more behavioural and emotional problems and expressed greater dissatisfaction with their body—so puberty blockers exacerbated gender dysphoria. Yet the study has been used to justify rolling out this drug regime to several hundred children aged under 16. Almost five years after the last patient was enrolled in the experiment, there is no evidence to substantiate Carmichael’s claim ‘that the results thus far have been positive’."

From the article

Declaring the trial a success, the clinic has continued to treat over a thousand children with the hormones but Dr Biggs’ research suggests that after a year of treatment “a significant increase” was found in patients who had been born female self-reporting to staff that they “deliberately try to hurt or kill myself”.

Parents also reported “a significant increase in behavioural and emotional problems” and a “significant decrease in physical wellbeing” in children born female, he claims. According to his research, there was no positive impact on “the experience of gender dysphoria”, the diagnosis given to those who are described as feeling intensely uncomfortable with their biological sex.

Parents did report their children suffering less “internalising behavioural problems”, however.

Dr Biggs said: “Puberty blockers exacerbated gender dysphoria. Yet the study has been used to justify rolling out this drug regime to several hundred children aged under 16.”

Popchyk · 07/03/2019 22:49

"A spokesman for GIDS said fewer than half of those referred to the service go on to access physical interventions.

“It is important that data is presented in peer-reviewed journals. Analysing and extrapolating from different data sets out of context can be misleading and does not do justice to the complexity of the issues. GIDS is actively contributing to the evidence base to inform the best way to support gender-diverse young people.”

You've been doing this for 30 years. So present the data in peer-reviewed journals then. We'd all love to see it.

Refusing to publish the data and then complaining when others are doing your job for you is shocking.

Note that they are not actually denying any of this though. How can they? It is their own data that Biggs analysed.

RedToothBrush · 07/03/2019 22:53

If they admit it they have a law suit on their hands. If they deny it, they'll get a law suit on their hands.

There is a law suit coming.

That’s shit, Sophocles. I’m sorry Flowers

It’s been said over and over here, but how the fuck has it come to children with perfectly heathy bodies being offered this ‘treatment’, effectively to solve the problem of sexism and homophobia.

CharlieParley · 07/03/2019 23:27

Is it possible they continued treatment because outcomes only worsened for girls?

And is it possible that outcomes worsened for girls because they are struggling GNC and/or LB and/or ASD girls rather than GD? (That is they're trying to identify out of becoming women rather than identifying into becoming men.)

If your diagnosis is wrong (and given that this is at heart an MH issue) wouldn't you expect the treatment to be wrong, too, if it doesn't actually address the underlying issues*?

*Issues frequently discussed here due to an increasingly hostile and violent societal environment for girls.

Fallingirl · 07/03/2019 23:30

At this point, Mermaids, Gires et al. are beginning to look the most transphobic of all.

It is horrifically transphobic to insist on turning trans-identifying children and adolescents into guineapigs in someones medical experiments.

Insisting on these children being given the same standard of care as other children is not transphobic.

This treatment is.

CharlieParley · 07/03/2019 23:31

Shouldn't ever have happened, Sophocles, I'm so sorry Flowers

And I'm honestly raging that instead of having a huge campaign for better healthcare for women, we're having to fight against the biggest attack on women's rights in a century.

RedToothBrush · 07/03/2019 23:44

Fallingirl I thought the Miranda Yardley case was remarkably transphobic.

If you are trans you must do, say and think what the trans activists say. And many of them are not trans themselves.

Authoritarianism is a form of controlling behaviour.

SophoclesTheFox · 08/03/2019 00:01

Thank you for the flowers everyone - back atcha.

I should really try to stop being shocked by this, but yet AGAIN we have the evidence that it is girls and women who are fucked over by the trans juggernaut. Worse outcomes for girls!, oh well never mind, we get (marginally, possibly) better outcomes for boys. you might be on to something with this charlie “Is it possible they continued treatment because outcomes only worsened for girls? ”

And yes, you have to wonder if that is because dysphoria in girls and boys has completely different routes. It makes complete sense to be that wanting to opt out of womanhood and opt out of mandhood aren’t at all the same.

Bloody hell. The more this sinks in, the worse it gets.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 08/03/2019 07:21

As someone has pointed out, if gender is a tool of oppression, specifically used to oppress women and girls, then gender dysphoria in women and girls is not a disorder requiring treatment but a reasoned response.

ChattyLion · 08/03/2019 07:26

Yes which also means that the needs and motivations of transmen and transwomen are likely to be very different. A fact which always seems to be overlooked or ignored by the usual loud male voices keen to present trans people as one big cohesive group.

ChattyLion · 08/03/2019 07:31

Dr Biggs Flowers

MsMcWoodle · 08/03/2019 08:54

Bumping this because I fear it is getting lost because of the rightful enjoyment of Mck.
The Dr Biggs study and today's Telegraph article are so important.
This is experimentation on children on a global scale and the experiment is failing, especially for young girls.

ChattyLion · 08/03/2019 09:24

Also grateful to Camilla Twominey and Joani Walsh for writing the article and the Telegraph for publishing it.Flowers
Strong sunlight, truth telling and reality are all deeply needed and are much appreciated.

hoodathunkit · 08/03/2019 09:50

The Tavistock has past form for unethical experiments on children.

See Camila Batmanghelidjh (who had significant involvement with the Tavi) and her unethical involvement with brain scans into the effect of fear on children's brains at various locations including the Tavistock

all of which has interesting parallels with this (trigger warning)

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/03/2019 10:02

Yy to all these last 18 posts.

So many excellent points.

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/03/2019 10:05

And is it possible that outcomes worsened for girls because they are struggling GNC and/or LB and/or ASD girls rather than GD? (That is they're trying to identify out of becoming women rather than identifying into becoming men.)

When I read the article by the transman I linked below again with this in mind, I can't help thinking this. Especially when Todd describes the other girls trying to feminise them.

hoodathunkit · 08/03/2019 10:07

I should also point out that Camila Batmanghelidjh's dreadful Kid's Company and the squandering of millions pounds of public money, her wide array of quack therapies offered to vulnerable children and her unethical brain experiments on children were all championed by Prince Charles and David and Samantha Cameron.

clitherow · 08/03/2019 10:17

The researchers will use brain scans and psychological tests to examine the emotional and neurological profiles of the highly deprived children supported by Kids Company. They will also examine the impact of providing a supportive therapeutic environment to children who have been neglected to see how children's brains can adapt to make them less prone to violence.

This quote from the link published by hoodathunkit from ucl. And how long before the supportive therapeutic environment becomes a pharmacological intervention in deprived children who have been 'scientifically proven' to be more prone to violence?

This is why American psychiatrists are routinely diagnosing the under 5s as bi-polar.

In this and the case of trans children and young people we have an explosive mix of the naive well-meaning, the hardnosed empirical scientists and the social control ideologues all being milked by big pharma.

David Cameron was also very interested in social control and was instrumental in setting up the so-called 'nudge unit' which looked at ways at getting people to comply with government policy by appealing to their unconscious mechanisms.

crsacre · 08/03/2019 10:19

Good catch, hoodathunkit!

Tavistock’s Experimentation with Puberty Blockers: Scrutinizing the Evidence
hoodathunkit · 08/03/2019 10:35

Batmanghelidjh is / was involved with a network of people of interest involved in the Tavi, the Bowlby Centre, Confer and various other compromised organisations using quack therapies including hypnotherapy, emotional freedoms technique, "body psychotherapy" and others.

What these organisations have in common is links to 'tantric" cults and to false memories of sexual abuse including satanic ritual abuse

hoodathunkit · 08/03/2019 11:14

Batmanghelidjh and Grayson Perry seem to share the same dressmaker

www.tatler.com/gallery/holding-up-childhood-private-view

Grayson Perry is a friend of the disgraced (yet still mysteriously influential) SRA promoting quack Valerie Sinason
www.hamhigh.co.uk/news/cross-dressing-artist-grayson-perry-i-don-t-enjoy-being-a-transvestite-because-of-fame-1-3491555

Although to be fair to him, she is charming and prone to convincing naive people that she is some kind of activist for abused children.

Grayson Perry is one of a number of highly influential people who got married to psychotherapists. Perry's wife Philippa Perry is also involved in the Bowlby Centre and The School of Life, both of which have links to abusive cults and to SRA promoting conspiracy theorists.

www.redonline.co.uk/red-women/red-panel/a512334/philippa-perry-interview/

Just to be clear, my battle is with abusive quacks like Sinason. I cannot comment upon people like Philippa and Grayson Perry other than to notice that they are involved with organisations that, to me, appear be involved in social engineering and the spreading of conspiracy theories.
