Workshop description:

*Over the last year or so, we have seen an increase in anti-trans rhetoric in the media and the rise in trans exclusionary TERF groups.

Come to this workshop to learn more about transgender rights, why TERFs are so dangerous, and discuss the ways in which standing up against trans hatred is directly connected to fighting racism, capitalism and the prison system.*

Its worth looking at the misleading image for the event img.evbuc.com/https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.evbuc.com%2Fimages%2F57333744%2F148688826680%2F1%2Foriginal.20190224-113314?w=800&auto=compress&rect=0%2C140%2C794%2C397&s=33f8a9c8e3a10f6a812ed509492d5255

From a quick look through of the programme cant see any workshop offering the gender critical view on trans rights vs. women's rights.

Not sure who is funding the week of events but it is supported by York (calling itself Human Rights City) and University of York Centre for Women’s Studies

So once again women’s rights is seen as not important by Human Rights and Women’s Studies.

Angry Sad

Only response thus far is from York Women saying simply
'Your feedback on this event has been noted, and we are taking all comment seriously'

Thats it. Nothing else.

They got a thrashing on Twitter about it but I didn't see anyone from York Women responding, nor even the organiser. I have a suspicion they just unquestioningly accepted the event submission without giving it any further thought and they're now alarmed at the reaction they got. I mean, in the past they've run events like make-up workshops and allowed weight loss coaches to shill their wares as part of the programme, so I wouldn't think that a lot of consideration goes on there.
