I've spent two days laughing but this morning I've woken up feeling grumpy because yet again - and sorry if I'm misgendering you Zuby - it's people sitting up and taking notice when a man says something.
Agreed, but that's how it is for every low status class of people. I think it's great that Zuby is offering a place on his (her?) platform for feminists though - let's hope women aren't so bloody self-negating they push a male trans ally to take the offer up.
It's an uneasy relationship with male allies and the way I try to see it is that it will take a long time to end the cultural misogyny where women's knowledge, work and opinions are dismissed out of hand as worthless by the vast majority of people (including by other women) so we're forced to play the long game, otherwise we'll go bloody nuts with frustration.
At least the arguments are given an airing and can open up an avenue for female influence when men take them on. They'll still need correcting because of their own bias towards men (Johnny Best has needed this a few times) - but it is opening up avenues. Perhaps we need to get better at pushing women into those openings - since males feel more entitled to be heard than women and will rush in to fill the void.
