I usually ignore Harrop threads, as I don't feel it's worth the oxygen.
But today's posts here have really affected me.
I work in, and volunteer elsewhere in, areas which require me to be non-judgemental. Supportive.
I know that, even though we're non-judgemental in our actions towards others, lots of people doing these type of roles (including myself) will still have opinions, judgements, but will keep them to ourselves.
And I somehow naively parked that, and told myself that, whatever their beliefs, they'd treat all-comers without sparking up their own prejudices
But to see a purported Doctor endorse someone else saying another human (Caroline) deserved all the vitriol they would get.
Not for murdering someone. Not for raping someone. {Again, whilst these are all actions where most of us would naturally suspend our non-judgemental framework, and judge away, some roles need this not to be the case)
But for stating medical facts, honestly, with language that this Doctor would recognise.
And to then witness this so-called 'doctor' baiting, and snarking, and siding with people who deride the wishes of women who are asking for single-sex spaces in healthcare, prisons, refuges, changing rooms, life in general, and smearing as them as being somehow bigots.
I'm gobsmacked.
And disappointed in both Harrop and the system that is currrently protecting him.
And that not more people are calling him out on this.
