Caro have the latest golf club jokes from the other day been reported to the GMC? I understand they were taking the last lot very seriously and he's done it again! He's an absolute menace and they really need to act now. Sorry you are going through all this.

I need to speak to the GMC on Monday. They asked me to meet with them, it was weighing very heavily on my conscience because I am well aware of the potential consequences for him, but after seeing that tweet above and hearing what he is doing, then I am left with little choice.

Any consequences are down to his own repeated behaviour, Caro. He cannot fail to have seen the responses urging him to act more professionally but he chooses to curry favour with folk that would throw him under a bus just to get their kicks.

He could choose not to do this.

He could try behaving like a decent human being.

Actually caro I believe you have a responsibility to report everything to the gmc. Harrop is a real danger and bully of women and he won’t stop until he’s held to account.

Caro AF is right, he has had ample warning to alter his behaviour. I've seen people telling him to rein it in for nearly 2 years but he's escalating, making jokes again about golf and mentioning specific locations, he either has zero self control or he just thinks he's untouchable. Either way he shouldn't be around vulnerable patients.

I remember yonks ago a medical professional trying to warn him publically on Twitter.
He has escalated since then.

I remember that too, AF. He's gone stratospheric since then. And for some time now no medics have interacted with him on Twitter. They have distanced themselves from him.

The GMC are taking their time, aren't they? I thought they were supposed to be making a ruling a few weeks ago. It's good you're going to talk to them, though, Caro - that kind of behaviour is worse than unhinged, it's deeply sinister, and quite frightening to think it's coming from a medical professional.

Hope your piece is still going to be in the paper tomorrow and they haven't spiked it as a result of the police dropping charges.

Yes, please report it and do not feel an ounce of guilt. This person is behaving in an unacceptable way, is intimidating and threatening. We have no idea of how dangerous he is and he should not be around patients if he is like this.

It needs reporting. My husband is connected to the golf club mentioned, and we are deeply concerned as a quick Google of our surname links it.

It’s ridiculous. A school would have sacked him long ago for his Twitter behaviour were he a teacher, but apparently a doctor can behave with impunity?
