#TeamNavratilova is gathering pace!

Firing Martina from Allies is working out to be an own goal as more people stand up and speak out on this.

twitter.com/hashtag/TeamNavratilova?src=hash

We know how twitter works Hmm in regards to women speaking out so perhaps this thread could be a place to gather excellent quotes and pictures for people to spread across other platforms and show that Martina's views are shared not by a trickle of support but a tidal wave.

I feel in need of a very nice #TeamNavratilova picture to put on my fbook, any social media gurus around to advise?

At the moment having Male and female elite sport encourages activity at all levels by all people. Even if no more world records can be set, people still want to see sporting excellence, people are still inspired by seeing people like themselves, women gain respect for their achievements. Women can even compete safely in contact sports at all levels. removing sex catagories will take us back to only seeing and respecting Male elite athletes which will harm women. The world records are not the purpose of sports.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 28/04/2019 14:32

There is no other explanation. Men want to erase women and everything they have achieved.
You are very, very wrong. Hmm

clitherow · 28/04/2019 17:24

Well, I guess only time will tell but a poll on another thread

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3571456-Poll-62-say-Trans-women-should-not-be-allowed-in-womens-sport

Shows that our thinking is changing and the biggest change of all is happening among women aged 18-24. Only 43% of those young women think that transwomen should not compete against women with the rest either thinking that they should or are unsure. This indicates a huge shift in perception.

I am not arguing for this - I am saying that many people are framing their arguments without taking possible future trends into account. Only a fool would say that they can definitely predict what those trends will be.

WelshMoth · 28/04/2019 17:27

Watch that link from the athlete from Connecticut. It shows footage of one of the races that had a transgender athlete competing against females. The burst of speed was unmatchable for ANY of the girls present - girls who trained and trained and lived and breathed athletics. No chance whatsoever.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 28/04/2019 17:49

They are unrepentant here.

Women's sport is doomed if this doesn't stop.

#TeamNavratilova is gathering pace!
WelshMoth · 28/04/2019 18:25

Unrepentant is the word.

So.

Girls, work harder.

#despair

2BthatUnnoticed · 28/04/2019 19:59

Have a separate division. Perhaps that would even spur more trans participation in sport, surely a good thing all round.

clith it’s not about setting records. It’s about the chance to stand on the podium. It’s about fairness.

As Selina Soule said.. many girls are too scared to voice their opinions.

SophoclesTheFox · 28/04/2019 20:26

Glad that our spokeswomen are still on this. We will resist.

No powerlifting records were broken here and we all know it.

clitherow · 29/04/2019 08:45

clith it’s not about setting records. It’s about the chance to stand on the podium. It’s about fairness.

I agree 2B. This is what I think too. And I completely support efforts to stand up for women's sports and think that people should do this at every opportunity. But you, me, Martina, Sharon Davies etc, I'm afraid to say, are dinosaurs who are probably looking at the world through dinosaur-shaped glasses.

Hundreds of other people in universities, sports organisations, government and educational institutions obviously have a very different pov otherwise this would not even be an issue. Sport is a multi-million pound business and tool of propaganda.

We must add to this the fact that we are living in the relatively early days of a bio-technological revolution which will make the industrial revolution look like a walk in the park. The central plank of this revolution is that we must change the way that we look at the body: sport will be one of the major vectors for this.

Think of it like this. Imagine if an able-bodied athelete wanted to replace his/her limbs with the prosthetics that are being developed byProfessor Herr at MIT as in this clip that I posted earlier.

There would be a massive outcry.

If we move through time by fifty years to a population that has swallowed trans ideology - that is brought up on the No Outsiders Programme when we can all be what we want to be irrespective of our biology then things might look a little different. Bodily mutilation is accepted by these people because breast binding, double mastectomies at thirteen, puberty blockers etc have long been accepted. We have now moved into the era when biotechnology is being used to sculpt the body into whatever we want - the constraints of nature are now a thing of the past.

The "movers and shakers" aren't interested in what you or I think - they have their eyes set on the 0-18 year-olds.

Many scientists call this dream "human augmentation". It is being hatched at a laboratory near you

andyoldlabour · 29/04/2019 09:57

"I am not arguing for this - I am saying that many people are framing their arguments without taking possible future trends into account. Only a fool would say that they can definitely predict what those trends will be."

WTAF is a "trend"?
Is men destroying women's sport a "trend"
Sport was, is and always should be based on biology, never on social preferences.

clitherow · 29/04/2019 10:18

Clitherow
I really really hope you are wrong

So do I Jo. I'm a bit baffled why some people seem to think that I am arguing for this. I'm just saying what I see. But I think I might be guilty of de-railing this thread, so I'll shut up.

For what it is worth I really think that we should fight this with every weapon we have.

Shows that our thinking is changing and the biggest change of all is happening among women aged 18-24.

It's worth remembering, though, that young women in this age group are more susceptible to the liberal man-centred be-nice brand of feminism. Plenty will grow out of it as they develop confidence and the strength of peer pressure wanes.

So many women who think equality has been achieved at the age of 21 are fierce feminists by 40. I think we'll see that trend continue.

FannyCann · 02/05/2019 08:08

Interview with her on radio 4 Today about 7:35ish. Think she was trying to sit on the fence and not give offence tbh whilst talking about fairness in women's sport.

Hearwegoagain · 05/05/2019 21:21

I hear Martina has donated to Maya Forstater. That is very nice of her, if true (not on Twitter so just reporting hearsay).

boatyardblues · 05/05/2019 22:47

Refreshing realism from USAPL, fair and factual and making the (expert backed) point that maleness is a non negotiable birthright. They have referenced the IAAF and Fair Play for Women and clearly state Within those IOC Guidelines, each sport is given the latitude to determine how the guidelines are applied. The IOC Guidelines is not a blanket approval over all sports. For anyone looking to template a model for fairness in women's sports, this is the link you want.
www.usapowerlifting.com/transgender-participation-policy/

A suggested amendment allowing men to compete as women was presented during the annual national USAPL meeting and was voted down decisively.
savewomenssports.com/updates/f/usa-powerlifting-doubles-down-on-its-transgender-policy
Kristopher Hunt, MD, presented scientific data on behalf of the USAPL that concluded that transwomen, men who identify as female, have physiological advantages over women and that, “sex matters from womb to tomb.”

While MTF may be weaker and less muscle than they once were, the biological benefits given them at birth still remain over than of a female.

www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/05/05/league-revokes-female-weightlifting-records-claimed-transgender/
Polls show the transgender ideology is deeply unpopular, especially among women and parents. In 2017, former President Barack Obama told NPR that his promotion of the transgender ideology made it easier for Donald Trump to win the presidency.

hotair.com/archives/2019/05/11/male-powerlifter-stripped-titles-womens-championships/
If those records were allowed to stand, you might as well just not bother having a women’s division in weightlifting. No actual woman will ever win again. And the same goes for virtually every other sport.

It matters that girls and women are afforded opportunities equal to boys and men, including in elite athletics. It matters because this is the only way sport can achieve its empowerment goals.

www.dailysignal.com/2019/05/06/8th-place-high-school-girls-speak-out-on-getting-beat-by-biological-boys/
How did society get to the point where high school girls now fear their uncomfortable opinions could prevent them from being admitted to the very institutions where uncomfortable opinions are supposed to be explored?

thefederalist.com/2019/05/07/trans-competitors-womens-sports-destroy-women-won/
Believe it or not, there was a time women’s sports teams did not exist. Women had to strive and earn the right to have leagues of their own. They had the desire to compete, and they wanted to be treated fairly. Today, we’ve won that right, only to have it threatened by men who think they can manipulate their bodies to appear female.

Financial backlash, Thinktank Criticizes Company’s Support of Transgender Privilege, Which Penalizes Biological Athletes
nationalcenter.org/ncppr/2019/05/09/under-armour-rebuked-for-unsportsmanlike-conduct-regarding-transgender-athletes/
Biological female athletes including American tennis player Martina Navratilova, British swimmer Sharron Davies, American mixed martial artist Ronda Rousey and Welsh gymnast Gabby Logan have said that transgender inclusion in women’s sports is unfair..."What I would like for you to explain is how a company dedicated to providing the proper gear can also be all-in for advancing transgender activism in sports."

Just a quick reminder of what this is really about. Keep going.

Thanks for the update.

”Polls show the transgender ideology is deeply unpopular, especially among women and parents. In 2017, former President Barack Obama told NPR that his promotion of the transgender ideology made it easier for Donald Trump to win the presidency.”

Pondering this. Wonder whether he was aware how unpopular it was with women and parents as the election got underway, or whether this was a retrospective realisation.

And then, with hindsight, does he still think pushing this unscientific and unpopular ideology worth it, given the immense damage done?

KatvonHostileExtremist · 12/05/2019 21:56

I've often wondered about the effect of identity politics on the rise of the right. It's not good.

This just caught my eye. Seems now Sharron Davis is being labelled a racist for saying xy runners shouldn't compete against xx.

Sorry racist AND evil.

The little incel is too stupid to know who Sharron is married too.
