Firing Martina from Allies is working out to be an own goal as more people stand up and speak out on this.

twitter.com/hashtag/TeamNavratilova?src=hash

We know how twitter works Hmm in regards to women speaking out so perhaps this thread could be a place to gather excellent quotes and pictures for people to spread across other platforms and show that Martina's views are shared not by a trickle of support but a tidal wave.

I feel in need of a very nice #TeamNavratilova picture to put on my fbook, any social media gurus around to advise?

@pombear this is just awful.

Jeska is to serve the 18 year sentence in HMP Foston Hall, a women’s closed category prison. Sentencing details from the Crown Court indicate that this violent crime will be recorded in female crime statistics rather than male, as Jeska is listed as female. In 2016, Ministry of Justice statistics reveal there were only 6 women convicted of attempted murder in England and Wales (presumably including Jeska), meaning that Jeska’s inclusion has effectively distorted and increased the female crime statistics in this category by 20%. Likewise, Claire Darbyshire‘s 2016 conviction for murder will also be counted in female statistics.

Iused2BanOptimist · 02/03/2019 21:08

Haha rightreckoner
I did a double take there. Not expecting the younger Daley to come out in support any time soon.
Even though he knows what to look for in a potential surrogate to bear a child for him. If he's looking for some sporting genes in the egg donor I don't imagine he'll be approaching the world champion cyclist any time soon for instance.

ChattyLion · 02/03/2019 21:10

Yay Daley Thompson!! Excellent tweet from him.

NotTerfNorCis · 02/03/2019 21:16

TRAs already there trying to claim no TRA would ever say lesbians should be attracted to people based on gender, not sex. Hope someone goes there and provides a link to Riley J Dennis or similar.

OvaHere · 02/03/2019 21:26

I see Martina is rapidly climbing the peaks of all the batshittery that sits outside of just sport.

JaneJeffer · 02/03/2019 21:46

The Ultimate Nut for sure.

It’s like that bit in Lord of the Rings where they light all the beacons Grin wave after wave of gender critical beacons bursting into flame across the interWebs!

MacKinnon must be having actual kittens by now.

a distortion of the stats by 20%. Wow. This should not be allowed to stand FFS.

I love that image. Can someone clever make it a GC gif? Grin

Datun · 02/03/2019 22:30

I hadn't realised that about Jeska.

From memory. Jeska packed three kitchen knives, drove 100 miles to Knebb's office and stabbed him in the neck, leaving him partially blind and disabled.

A violent, entitled, unhinged liar. In a woman's prison.

Because some fuckwit drew up a law to allow it.

This has to end.

EweSurname · 03/03/2019 08:02

And Martina herself!

Nathalie van Gogh, another transwoman who has been winning women's sports events.

cyclistsalliance.org/articles/i-am-finally-human/

When the sweat and snot before my own eyes had cleared after a few kilometres, I noticed one bottom to be particularly square. The upper legs seemed to have been made out of concrete and the calves were triangular in size.

The remainder of the race I went from being focused on the race to being fascinated about that body. I secretly looked at the jaw line, the broad shoulders and that clearly feminine curly ponytail. After the race Google quickly helped me to find out who she was. This was Natalie van Gogh, or Kees Race-Kees, as she was called in the bunch. She was a cyclist who once was a man and now lived and raced as a woman. She did so at the highest level causing a lot of controversy.

Quoting van Gogh: Strictly spoken you could even say I am at a disadvantage. Testosterone doesn’t only make you strong but it also helps with recuperating. I have no testosterone so I don’t recuperate as fast.

That didn't stop van Gogh winning recently, and against competitors who were on average much younger and would ordinarily have had an advantage from age.

LatinforTelly · 03/03/2019 09:41

I don't understand this 'no testosterone' argument,NotTerf. They may be on testosterone blockers but surely the IOC guidelines allowing transwomen to compete with women at a significantly higher level than would occur in women means that they still have more than women?

Paris Lees used that argument when she was useless on Celebrity Island (Yes, sorry I did.) Said she was weaker than the women because she had no testosterone at all. That isn't right is it?

NotTerfNorCis · 03/03/2019 09:48

If van Gogh had been weakened that much by lack of testosterone, we should be questioning what they're doing on a winner's podium instead of languishing helplessly like Paris Lees on Celebrity Island (yes I watched it too).

Manderleyagain · 03/03/2019 10:12

Ewesurname's link above is to an article by Martina on her Web site. I think it's good. She is trying to create a space and climate where this (sport) can be discussed sensibly and different opinions heard. She's not coming up with answers at this stage which seems fair enough to me. It's telling that she felt the need to point out that she was not advocating violence against trans people!
She really is an excellent woman.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but Martina has posted a follow-up to the original Times article:

Kerning · 03/03/2019 10:31

Ah sorry I see there is a separate thread about Martina's response.

The comments are supportive and still #TeamNavratilova
twitter.com/Martina/status/1102094503048024064

There is already a twist to try to make it look like a retraction, won't link to any of those pieces! I will say they are generally trying to rewrite her statement for her which we know to be a desperate and foolhardy reach. The BBC are first in line trying to force meanings onto words that simply aren't there.

twitter.com/fairplaywomen/status/1102201497809494018

I think the best path here is for as many people as possible to read the original statement from Martina and not the wildly forced misinterpretations of it. A huge amount of Jane/Joe Public twitter is simply shouting CHEAT IT IS CHEATING THEY ARE CHEATS etc which is hilarious a hilarious backfiring of trying to force a retraction of that word. It's the word of the moment and the BBC and woke ilk are just making it more popular than ever Grin

So ignore crap BBC title and link, lol at ridiculing comments, the BBC are taking an absolute battering over this, rightly!

Why is the Independents headline ' FURY AS EX-OLYMPIAN SHARRON DAVIES SAYS TRANS WOMEN SHOULD NOT COMPETE IN WOMEN'S SPORT

Some have called for Davies to be stripped of her MBE'
Based on what (correct me if I'm wrong) is a handful of responses to her tweet, rather than 'massive support for Sharron Davies for standing up for women's rights' based on the 22,000 likes and 3,000 retweets.? Hmm
