GRA and Labour Party

Help! I am meeting Labour next week to talk about the GRA. I have some excellent stuff but I wondered if people might be able to add anything specific to the Labour Party.

I have L Madigan. The AWS party being sued. I also have the Fawcett Society and the idea that women's equality would be advanced by a Parliament of 50% men and 50% transwomen.

If anyone has anything else I can add to my meeting I would be very grateful. I have already had a huge amount of help but a bit more would be very handy,

Corbyn says "transwomen are women"

just ask them if they really believe it, if they do ask them what that actually means

userschmoozer · 14/02/2019 15:59

Oh well done! Star
Sex is a protected characteristic.
Do the Labour Party believe that women have won all the relevant battles and are no longer discriminated against on the grounds of sex?

Today, BPAS are posting on Twitter about the BBC. Because apparently abortion is not a healthcare issue, its a moral issue.

The #BBC says it will not include abortion information on its Action Line website - a site that provides signposting for viewers seeking support on issues covered in their programmes - because it's too "contentious".

I’d love to have this meeting go in a way that you outline your concerns and they listen.

But if it doesn’t: Ask them if they believe people can change sex.

And when they start waffling about gender, say ‘no - sex. Can humans change sex?’

Then when they say no, ask why we have any single sex provision at all.

Then remind them that as humans can’t change sex, what they plan on doing (allowing self ID) will make all provision mixed sex. Ask them how they think the electorate will react to that.

Remind them that enshrining gender ID in law and allowing self ID are totally incompatible with keeping sex as a protected characteristic. So what they want will remove all sex based protections. All of them. How will the electorate respond to that?

Follow up with an email with all your concerns and note that in the event of a serious case review they were bloody well told.

Might I suggest the Chesterton's Fence approach - if Labour are considering removing single-sex prisons, changing rooms and sleeping arrangements for Girl Guides then first they need to state why they were necessary in the first place (generally I think safeguarding is a key part of the argument and this helps point it out).

  • Corbyn says "transwomen are women" just ask them if they really believe it, if they do ask them what that actually means*

Yup.
What do you mean by "women" (without circularity or leaving undefined. That's useless for legislation)
What do you mean by 'transwomen'? (They may go with anything from fully transitioned TS to 'anyone who says they are' ...)

And having done that, can they then say what they mean by 'are'.

StuntNun · 14/02/2019 18:35

Wasn't Corbyn talking about amending the Equality Act a couple of months ago?

Cismyfatarse1 · 14/02/2019 22:31

Thanks very much indeed. I will do my best.

Self-ID is not law. Only with a GRC is a personally legally regarded as the opposite sex. They should not be allowing self-ID within the Party.

Women's rights are sex based, if you replace sex with gender, you eradicate women's rights. There is no evidence that women no longer require sex based rights.

Training provided by gender lobbyists is not compliant with the law or accepted science.

The role of women's officer has been granted to some people who have shown themselves to be unsuitable for the role, even before election.

50% men + 50% trans women = 100% men.

I want to know why stonewall has been given free reign to enter schools and labour meetings to “educate” & “demand” society accept something that isn’t a legal requirement. And speaking of legal why are children under 18 being prescribed puberty blockers with all the risks (and potential that they may be misdiagnosed as having dysphoria) and companies being given money by the government to provide breast binders, reminiscent of feet binding in China. Why are schools told that they should not inform parents of a child’s “secret” that their child is identifying as the opposite sex at school? This is a horrific betrayal for parents and a total disregard for safeguarding a child considering they may get bad/incorrect advice about transitioning esp as many children who self id appear to fall into the autistic/aspergers spectrum?
I’d also like to ask why labour have stonewall on their headed notepaper?
And why they are allowing men who only identify as women to fill women’s roles?

ChattyLion · 15/02/2019 19:09

Well done for securing this meeting

I would like to know how they think they are going to attract and retain female floating votes, female Labour voters, female party activists, female party organisers and female party staff and female councillors and female MPs, and one day a female Labour Prime Minister, when they treat women as such lesser beings and ignore their concerns.

Do they know that for every letter sent by a motivated person to an MP etc or questions raised at a meeting there will be x amount of other people thinking the exact same thing? They can’t just ignore this.

I think Corbyn said he would meet with women’s groups in 2018- did this happen? What was the upshot?

ChattyLion · 15/02/2019 19:17

Loving Chestertons fence. Brilliant approach.

Get them to say why normal safeguarding should not be applied to children, why normal medical ethics on not experimenting on children should be abandoned, why women’s single sex spaces, educational opportunities, toilets, awards etc are not needed now.

I'd be wanting to know which 'women's groups'.

Erol agree with you. If there were any women’s groups that he met with at all..

he said he would meet with Linda Bellos specifically when that was proposed in an interview.

Isn't Telford where this happened:

At minimum I would hope that a Labour Party Womens Officer is trusted by, and seen as approachable by, working class women in the town. Surely that is the point of a CLP officer holder.

Beamur · 16/02/2019 10:31

I reckon once the wider public see what's been going on with blurring the distinction between sex and gender, you will not see wider acceptance of this philosophy, you will see lost votes.
