Thanks for posting. If anyone who is able to attend can post a summary or links to one, that would be really great.

sunglasses · 07/02/2019 16:58

Looking forward to it

NowtSalamander · 07/02/2019 17:56

I’ll be there!

femaleadulthuman · 11/02/2019 06:57

Does anyone know how / when they are announcing the venue? Want to go and just trying to work out how to get there.

Cwenthryth · 11/02/2019 09:36

I’ve only just heard about the event from this thread (despite having been actively trying to find information about any resisters groups in north London!) but from their website it seems their original venue withdrew haringeyresisters.org/2019/02/04/12th-february-meeting-venue-changed/

We do not want our new venue to have to field complaints about our meeting, so we have decided to release the address of the new venue at 4pm on the day. Please check this web site or email us.

I can’t see anything about tickets on the web site though, is there any more detail elsewhere or that anyone else knows? Do we just check the website and show up if we wish to attend?

sunglasses · 11/02/2019 16:27

Please come along! Just turn up and give a donation to cover some transport costs etc. Check the website for details of the venue which won’t be announced until 4pm tomorrow but is somewhere in Crouch End/Hornsey area.

femaleadulthuman · 11/02/2019 21:11

Thanks for the details. I'll check the website at 4pm tomorrow. I can't actually believe that people would try to stop a meeting like this. I know lots of parents who are keen to find out more. A friend has a child at a North London secondary, she told me details of this meeting were posted on the parents Facebook page then removed, apparently a member of staff complained. Yet the school are continually dodging any attempt by her and other parents to engage in discussion around this topic. I hope there's a good turnout tomorrow.

PencilsInSpace · 11/02/2019 22:03

Bumping this, I wish I could go.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/02/2019 12:42

Attempts to deplatform have begun. I hope you manage to proceed with the event regardless

I learned today (in an unrelated matter) that the following are offences under the public order act:

1)Any person who at a lawful public meeting acts in a disorderly manner for the purpose of preventing the transaction of the business for which the meeting was called together shall be guilty of an offence, and shall on summary conviction be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale or to both.

(2)Any person who incites others to commit an offence under this section shall be guilty of a like offence.

That post from “Sister Not Cister UK” looks suspiciously like incitement to a public meeting me, an offence in and of itself. Is it on a publicly viewable page?

Missingstreetlife · 12/02/2019 13:01

This should be trending?

Cwenthryth · 12/02/2019 13:17

@sunglasses @RadicalStitch if you are organising this event, you could consider reporting the fb posts as a suspected offence as above. I’d support you doing that but it doesn’t feel appropriate to do so myself as an onlooker.

RadicalStitch · 12/02/2019 13:29

Hi sunglasses, I hadn't thought of that! Yes, great idea.

Thank you Cwenthryth for the public order quote. That might come in handy anyway!

Thank you!!!!!!!

I just want to be clear for the lurkers and the eyes 😎 - I believe that ‘Sisters not Cisters UK’ have a right to peaceful protest and they should be able to do that, hell they should be welcome to attend the talk if they behave respectfully for the duration. But attempting to disrupt the meeting, and incitement to disrupt the meeting, is not on and looks likely to be a criminal offence. Harassing the venue is not on either (don’t know if incitement to harassment is a thing!)

I’m going to try and attend, depending on work, although would arrive late.

RadicalStitch · 12/02/2019 14:15

Thank you!
I absolutely agree. Everyone is welcome.

Hot off the press: Heather Brunskell Evans is replacing Claire Graham.

Yes it would be great to have a debate instead of being shut down

GoGoJo · 12/02/2019 15:10

Oh glad you got that sorted. See people later.

femaleadulthuman · 12/02/2019 16:19

Venue has been announced on the Facebook link. Hope to see others there later.

VeniceAllan · 12/02/2019 17:03

Ooo I'm so excited about this, I have the feeling it's going to be historic! Wink

Missingstreetlife · 12/02/2019 17:06

Thanku

FeminismandWomensFights · 12/02/2019 18:28

Would anyone be kind enough to post some of the discussion tonight? Is there a hashtag to follow etc?

NotTerfNorCis · 12/02/2019 18:39

Good luck everyone! Hope to see some updates on Twitter.

GoGoJo · 12/02/2019 18:50

Well I'm in. Big gaggle outside but quiet and peaceful.
