Nice Labour party woke bloke here engaging in targeted harassment of the venue.

Thingybob · 12/02/2019 19:35

The Labour party woke bloke has his occupation down as a teacher.

HerFemaleness · 12/02/2019 22:24

He's proteected his tweets now. What did he say?

GoGoJo · 12/02/2019 23:36

Great meeting. Just on my way back from the pub now. Julia Long was incredibly moving talking about lesbian cultural genocide, Stephanie spoke about transgender trend and her experiences with schools and young people with some great practical point for activism and Heather BE was also fab on the sociological shift that has happened in the last generation from the gender nonconforming child to the transgender child.

Good questions, nice drinks, the room was full- easily 150 women there and the protestors were actually very polite and sweet. Felt quite motherly towards them. They are so young and have been sold a lie.

Al in all great night.

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 12/02/2019 23:44

This is what the male labour teacher posted trying to get the meeting cancelled

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 12/02/2019 23:44

Hopefully here

Ah fuck. That's my local pub. Wish I'd seen this earlier

Thingybob · 12/02/2019 23:58

Felt quite motherly towards them. They are so young and have been sold a lie.

That's interesting to know as it wasn't clear from Venice's video how old they were.

It does raise the other issue that is always at the back of my mind though, how are we going to help the young that have been dragged into this ideology when it all comes tumbling down?

Cwenthryth · 13/02/2019 00:14

Fab night. Phone died and had to make a few stops on way home so only just got in so bit knackered to post much - but really good night. Very well attended, lots of connections being made, very positive feeling of solidarity in the pub afterwards. The protestors outside were just a bit pitiful really, really not confident or coherent at all in what they were doing, it was weird.

Missingstreetlife · 13/02/2019 10:31

Where is the video? I thought the protesters ok, offered to talk, that's good. Would have been glad if they came in. Thanks to all including venue

ScipioAfricanus · 13/02/2019 18:03

Wow that article is so unbalanced I’m surprised it’s not printed sideways.

Glad the Twitter teacher got to air his views more. Hmm

Missingstreetlife · 13/02/2019 18:35

Next time do a press release? Mr twitter is getting lots of replies.
Someone needs to respond to this

Missingstreetlife · 13/02/2019 19:24

Press release next time? Please write to ham and high, letters page or complaint.
Mr Twitter is getting some reaction.

VeniceAllan · 13/02/2019 19:58

I had such a lovely evening Glitterball
I was an inept chair but the speeches were excellent and the atmosphere was very positive and inspiring. Some of my fave people were there. Pub was brilliant. Go HR Smile

FeminismandWomensFights · 13/02/2019 20:32

That article is so oddly written..

So the teacher who objects to the meeting says of himself ‘As an LGBTQ man and a teacher....’
Confused He’s in all of those categories at the same time?

And I don’t understand the ‘trans activist’’s quote. She seems to be saying that trans people in general are in a bad way emotionally. Eh? Otherwise what does being trans have to do with not being able to ‘get out of bed in the morning’?

This really needs coverage that would be enquiring and informed.

The local vicar sounds absolutely awesome though. Flowers

FeminismandWomensFights · 13/02/2019 20:35

Venice Star. Hope you’ll do more of these meetings.

NowtSalamander · 13/02/2019 20:45

Yes - thank you Venice. I thought you and all of the other women on the panel were excellent. Hopefully see all participants again at the next one. Including that brand of TA protesters, who I thought were a lot more sweet and vulnerable than yore (2017)

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 13/02/2019 21:11

I would recommend a press release next time. The Manchester resisters got some bad press regarding the action they did with the adult human female t-shirts on the statues however they protested the biased coverage to the Manchester Evening News who later who wrote the article and re-released it using much more balanced approach. They use the press release that the Manchester resisters gave them to do this.

So it's definitely worth approaching the newspaper to see if they are as honorable as the Manchester Evening News were.

VeniceAllan · 13/02/2019 21:29

I cannot take any credit for this meeting, it was organised by the awesome Haringey Resisters. I just get roped in on the day because Julie Bindel's cat was ill.
