Wow. What a week for the so-called "gender critical" movement!

OP posts:
Imnobody4 · 31/01/2019 11:49

I'm not a feminist in order to usher in a one party dictatorship even a left wing dictatorship.

FlyingOink · 31/01/2019 11:49

ReflectentMonatomism
Thanks for that link. As a homosexual I never feel I can take political support for granted. Sad

Oxytocindeficient · 31/01/2019 11:50

Don’t take the bait, this user is not here for constructive or civil discussion. Ignore and they’ll be left talking to themselves.

ChewyLouie · 31/01/2019 12:00

I don’t get the hoo haa being stirred up over PP - she is raising awareness of the erasure
of women’s rights at a critical time, she’s not an elected leader of a women’s party. Political views, religious beliefs, race, sexuality are all connected by the fact we are biological women and our rights as a biological class are being taken from us. That is what matters right now; those who support the biological female class. The rest can be quibbled over later.

BettyDuMonde · 31/01/2019 12:01

Liberation from the patriarchy INCLUDES the left wing patriarchy, no?

Ha Lildog ! You know we can’t vote Green - the report said pretty clearly that their only concerns re: a child rapist in the party were the problems it might cause the PR department 🤷‍♀️

AspieAndProud · 01/02/2019 00:18

Is that how we should describe TRAs regarding your support of Ian Huntley and Karen White?

This. When GC women start campaigning for the release of child murderers and rapists that’ll be a bad week for GC.

Ereshkigal · 01/02/2019 00:24

teaming up"

Rich and poor, Christian and atheist, left and right know that the sky is blue, the grass is green, and sex is immutable.

And if my house was on fire I'd accept a bucket of water from anyone of any political belief to help me put it out, thank them, then return to opposing them politically exactly as before.

Grow up.

Well said.

Because the OP is a fairly prolific drive by plopper poster. And doesn't have anything to offer of value in a discussion on this subject, so she certainly won't stick around to engage with the women here.

QuietContraryMary · 01/02/2019 00:36

They weren't 'at work', they were in the Senate lobbying an elected representative in the pursuance of men's sexual rights.

Great article.

If you watch the video closely, you can see the very obvious "duper's delight" smile on the face of Sarah McBride. Sarah McBride was trying to pass legislation that will undermine or even destroys the right of women and girls.

Sarah McBride wasn't upset, or intimidated, or scared.

Sarah McBride smiled.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 01/02/2019 01:19

There’s a distinct whiff of old-fashioned, burn’em at the stake, commentary coming through.

For example:
“Plus it exposes your followers to them. It's best to refute them in a separate comment so as to not get drawn into the devil's dance.”

Bursting into a meeting wasn’t nice. It goes against all our socialisation. The men are outraged because women didn’t know their place and penetrated (deliberate) the bastions of power without permission.

This is not a war that will be won with tea and biscuits. Men are in the process of removing the few protections women have fought for. They’re not doing it for the right to express themselves freely, but out of a deep-seated, long-standing, culture-wide resentment of women’s rights.

And the first of those rights they want to remove is the right to name ourselves. Adam’s Task was the naming of animals, and in the naming he gained sovereignty over them. If we allow men to name us, to take all meaning from the words woman and female, the patriarchy is asserting ownership.

We’re not going to polite the opposition into justice.

If 80% of the population or whateveritis believe sex is immutable etc then we are all going to have to cope with the fact that we will agree on this with a whole lot of people we would not wish to be stuck in a lift with

Just because we all share an opinion doesn't make us responsible for each others' choices.

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 01/02/2019 07:43

At least they haven't been threatening to harass women at their churches. You know, just drop by with their criminal buddies.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 01/02/2019 07:45

Someone call a waaaahmbulance to treat the hurty feelz, stat.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 01/02/2019 07:45

I read that Spectator US article ToeToToe

it's outstanding. Posie and Julia are really making waves

I think what they have done is fantastic

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 01/02/2019 07:46

and Venice of course!

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 01/02/2019 07:48

I was reading the comments on the independents very negative report on Posie and Julia. They were surprisingly supportive.

I'm still not sure it was a great idea. But at least (unlike trans activists) they didn't get violent

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 01/02/2019 07:52

I think this is a broad church

there's people in it who do things I wouldn't

and I think that as long as those things are legal and not violent, that's a good thing

suffragettes weren't nice, they did a bunch of stuff that was both illegal and violent.

Qcng · 01/02/2019 07:53

Stop the War's "teaming up with" the Islamic religious right got a free pass with the woke, despite similar homophobia and often far worse anti-women attitudes and practices

This is a really goof point. I'll try to remember it when this "you baddies, teaming up with right wing groups on a single issue that you happen to both agree on" nonsense comes up again.

Qcng · 01/02/2019 07:55

^good, obvs

Alltheprettyseahorses · 01/02/2019 08:09

Does that mean transwomen on the religious right aren't real transwomen in your view?

A political lobbyist lobbying the senate for their own purposes isn't at work. The principles of democracy demand their actions must be public and open to full scrutiny at all times. It is correct to question them.

Now I'll just wait for your condemnation of bomb threats, violence etc to stop women meeting to talk to each other. I'm sure you'll do this within seconds of me posting Hmm

Ereshkigal · 01/02/2019 09:38

Agree that was a great article in the US edition of the Spectator.
