What we did was amazing. We pulled the GUardian, Parliament, the House of Lords, the media, out of a position they were determined to have, we changed the debate, we showed women were a political force, we acted, all over the country we acted. In different ways. We were bound by the GRA review and as soon as that was done it was evident that power relations had recreated within a social movement. Yes some people by reflex did things that they would always have done. Now we get to relearn and renegotiate power relations by saying we dont play the way media tribalists did. Whatever fall outs there have been were always going to hapen but we still did that. Thats why htis board is permanently monitored by nutcases and acually the power we demonstrated is directly at the root of the toxic fallouts and is a mark of success in itself. Political spectrum reforming within this movement is alright, but it probably pays to remember how amazing what we achieved was and letting that guide what we can achieve., We changed the conversation we can keep doing that. Easily. By having the conversation we want and not bowing to social media tribalism that hides all sorts of nasties and existing political orgs. And learning in a way they cant.

Marcus Ginantonicus!

I loved a spot of Asterix and Tintin when I was wee...and also Dougal And The Blue Cat.

"Women! Women, you are not being decent enough on this thread! How very dare you!"

Thank you Geeewhiz for kindly alerting us silly women as to the error of our ways. Oh, and DFOD.

Melroses · 28/01/2019 23:22

I read What Katy Did and it inspired me Me too Smile

I don't think I should have read Pollyanna though.

geeewhizz · 28/01/2019 23:25

Personally I couldn't stand around swapping recipes when the person I'm protecting destroys reputations, outs someone as a victim of rape, publishes private conversations, prints the most wicked allegations against strangers and generally does all that stuff men say women do to each other... And you wonder why women are being ignored.

PositivelyPERF · 28/01/2019 23:25

Better ripe cos they mash more easily. 🤢

Fuck sake Lang, you’re taking it a step too far.

I like a nice firm banana, sliced, put into a small jug off oat milk, heated, then poured over 1 1/2 Weetabix. Go on! Judge me! walks off with head held high

BubonicTheHedgehag · 28/01/2019 23:25

Today's delight of the photos of public statues of women, across the UK, dressed with the "Woman: adult human female" T-shirt, is most inspiring!

Wonderfully uplifting! Sincere thanks to all involved Flowers

PositivelyPERF · 28/01/2019 23:25

*of. 😳

Yep, Jean rides her bike to destroy women, that is definitely true and does not at all make the person saying it sound unhinged.

Worth repeating...

PositivelyPERF · 28/01/2019 23:27

when it's pointed out how childish that is as a technique to isolate and reject the new girl No girls on here, just women, men and socks.

ToeToToe · 28/01/2019 23:27

Pollyanna was the one with the Glad Game, was it not?

Ok, here goes. We have the TRA movement trying to ease women, and we have a massive gf on this thread - I'm GLAD so many fantastic women congregate on Mumsnet every day.

I'm also glad there are so many activist women willing to speak out, hold meetings, set up campaigns, bike ride for murdered women, put T shirts on statues, travel to the US to talk etc etc.

BubonicTheHedgehag · 28/01/2019 23:28

Weetabix, though.

No.

Just no.

And bananas as well??!!!

Honestly, some "so-called" feminists......

geeewhizz · 28/01/2019 23:28

Oooh, are we on to books? I can THOROUGHLY recommend Malignant Self- Love or Rethinking Narcissism or Becoming the Narcissist's Nightmare. They really help you identify those people who are so very envious of other people's success they just HAVE to try to destroy them. Seems so very appropriate right now...

lisamuggeridge · 28/01/2019 23:29

Positively Perf- you use OAT milk on weetabix? Really? Am all for respect for difference but thats a bit weird.

And you wonder why women are being ignored.

Its a curious question.
Bit odd (not sure there's much evidence for it being a common wondering amongst women here) funnily enough I'm sure I saw it asked over the weekend too. Not on here though.

Second most favourite post.

If here are any girls on here atm isn't it a bit past their bedtime?

lisamuggeridge · 28/01/2019 23:30

I like hot milk on weetabix but you have to eat them before they coagulate properly.

I read What Katy Did and it inspired me to become the compliant, pacific woman I am today.

This made me laugh out loud and almost woke the toddler (who will be getting WBH for breakfast, luckily we have ripe bananas :) )

feministfairy · 28/01/2019 23:31

Ahem - we're actually eating Weetabix, green chocolate, creamy milk with scones and an array of other foods Grin

I only eat cereal at night.

Never fancy it in the morning.

Porridge sometimes for breakfast and sliced banana ok but not if they're over ripe.

Over ripe bananas go in the freezer until there are enough for banana bread.
