Evidence is never presented for why our leader and saviour is bad.

TimeLady's mum made a camp Coffee cake back in the day.
Also a coffee kisses recipe is found.
The alt-right are mentioned a lot.
Paul McCartney gets a mention
So does Terry Pratchett's discworld.
Mr Fruity is remembered and discussed.
Nazi's were mention by early.
We were told we "need a common enemy"
(Why we need this is presently unknown.)

And now the exciting conclusion....

women- No. I stopped eating meat when I was a kid, first thyroid hiccup much later around my 30’s and diagnosed at 39. Doctors did insist I stop eating dairy for my thyroid, but I was already thinking that way anyway. There’s no diet specifically for hypothyroidism. There’s a couple of things that appear to trigger nasty symptoms in a lot of sufferers, but no hard and fast rules- other than obviously the healthier you eat the easier it is to manage an existing health condition. I cannot eat all the sugary cake I want for instance, which sucked this w/e when you all talked about cheesecake so much! I sent my daughter down the road to get vegan cakes and had to stop myself doing so again today. At the moment I’m on Nature Throid, I used to be on w massive dose but it’s now 3 grains, sometimes less as I unfortunately swing a little even medicated. I really hate having to take NDT, but was told in no uncertain times, take it or die early. I really hope one day to be able to switch to a synthetic combo of T4 & T3, but it’s not an option yet apparently and T3 is also not always easy to get here.

merrymouse · 27/01/2019 20:39

I don’t know really. The Tories have got a bloody ‘rape clause’ in their benefit plans. Woman are being majorly fucked over, any woman who’s been on benefits is likely to think the Tories are fucking over woman massively.

Except there is no mechanism for talking about women if we don't have a word for woman.

I can't talk about the consequences of a 'rape clause' if I can't explain who it affects.

The level of loss it at such a basic level.

Oxytocindeficient · 27/01/2019 20:40

Poor women could be more affected by self ID. Making out it’s more of a rich womans issue is not accurate. That’s another aspect of left v right politics I hate, both political parties like to pit working class and middle class people against each other.

WrathofRancidKlopp · 27/01/2019 20:41

ChewyLouie

I have met a Barbara Ganoush.

She had a very traditional marriage set up where her husband worked and she stayed at home cooking the dinner, even after her kids had left home.

I was shocked.

Oxytocindeficient · 27/01/2019 20:41

I can't talk about the consequences of a 'rape clause' if I can't explain who it affects

Exactly

lisamuggeridge · 27/01/2019 20:42

''I don’t know really. The Tories have got a bloody ‘rape clause’ in their benefit plans. Woman are being majorly fucked over, any woman who’s been on benefits is likely to think the Tories are fucking over woman massively.''

Hate to break it to you but this was by consensus, Labour went out of their way to maintain this consensus, and it was still upheld while the left abused women for discussing it. You appear desperate for left to be a solution ad therefore you demanding we silence people makes sense. You dont need to be on the left to be a woman, and you appear to not understand anything about the welfare consensus that exists on women in this country. The one thing I do know is that was subject to consensus and held up by left and right think tanks, parties, media orgs, and academia. Same academia who told us abusing women as terfs was sensible. TERF uses the same structures that mean women can be harmed by benefit rfeorm.

lisamuggeridge · 27/01/2019 20:44

Women dealing wit austerity and the bedroom clause should be forced to audition to a lefty committee for moral purity before they can object? No. Its not even remotely difficult to grasp.

lisamuggeridge · 27/01/2019 20:46

Mothers were harmed by austerity. Say it/. Mothers. Women made vulnerable to state abuse by them being mothers. Their biology. And that aint going to be solved by throwing women to the wolves of institutions who are trying to sell us motherhood and womanhood are not linked, cos they also provide the evidence base for these policies. MOthers. Women whose body produced human life are harmed by policies and making womanhood unspeakable is an extension of that.

Earlywalker · 27/01/2019 20:47

I’m not saying self ID is a rich woman’s issue, I’m saying the affects the Tory policies has on poor woman isn’t a rich woman’s issue.

I can't talk about the consequences of a 'rape clause' if I can't explain who it affects
Not quite sure I agree with that. Not saying self-ID or the labour stance is OK. But when you talk about a rape clause and woman it’s pretty obvious who you’re talking about. We all know who bares children. Transwoman May want in on the word ‘woman’, doesn’t change oppression and issues facing actual woman or our ability to campaign against them.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 27/01/2019 20:50

Transwoman May want in on the word ‘woman’, doesn’t change oppression and issues facing actual woman or our ability to campaign against them.

It does, you will be no longer able to define natal women as such. You will for example be forced to use menstruators, which isn't a good enough term to cover actual women.

OP posts:
userschmoozer · 27/01/2019 20:50

It does if we cannot legally protect ourselves. Laws depend on accurate language.
Its no good saying 'we all know who the mothers are'. Maternity and breastfeeding rights belong to women. If everyone can claim them, no one can refute that claim.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 27/01/2019 20:53

If we phase out that "woman" means people with the XX chromosome, how can we define the class which is oppressed?

OP posts:
userschmoozer · 27/01/2019 20:53

I'm actually stunned we have to explain this, its so utterly basic.

Only women can breastfeed.
Only breastfeeding women are permitted to access the breastfeeding room in a workplace.

If anyone can claim to be breastfeeding then you cannot legally challenge them or keep them out of the breastfeeding room, and that means men can harass breastfeeding women.

Cornish pasties and champagne and Stilton cheese and Jaffa cakes have more legal protection than women right now.

FactsAreNotMean · 27/01/2019 20:54

The left have utterly fucked over women time and time again - every time there is a more "trendy" oppressed group for them to support they'll throw women under the big red bus rather than look at the actual issue and support those who are actually vulnerable. Rotherham, self-id, refusing to even discuss Cologne...

I'm another mainly centrist who probably leans a bit left - but right now I would not vote for Labour. They lack realism and pragmatism to such a fundamental level that they couldn't run a corner shop let alone a country.

RepealTheGRA · 27/01/2019 20:54

If anybody’s interested in my opinion, I’ll be voting Tory (local candidate is GC). Tories are going to shit all over vulnerable and marginalised women, Labour are going to shit all over ALL women, in fact all people. Every single women I know in real life feels the same, including some previously die hard labour supporters. Anybody that doesn’t like the fact that’s fast becoming the opinion of middle England needs to take it up with the Labour Party (and god knows I know a lot of you have tried) not women on a forum who are using any privilege they have to try and preserve rights for all women.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 27/01/2019 20:59

I take synthetic T4 Oroxin and T3 troche (made up at compounding chemist). But I keep reading even that combination is not as good as NDT. I'm on lactose-free dairy but must give it up (notice I have still not accepted that fully - tea without milk isn't tea and no ice cream.....)

womanformallyknownaswoman · 27/01/2019 21:00

Great T-shirt slogan...

FloralBunting · 27/01/2019 21:01

It was during the Repeal referendum campaign in Ireland that someone pointed out to me that removing very specific sex definitions wrt abortion could quite easily lead to men being able to legally have a say in various abortion scenarios.

Ideas have consequences. And just because there are narrowly defined alliances now doesn't mean the people involved aren't very aware that this is not a long term proposition. And people do change their mind as time goes on and they engage with different ideas. In any direction.

Gah, I'm tired. Do we really have to have this same conversation for the next two hundred years?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 27/01/2019 21:04

But what you haven't realised is Posie is talking to someone right wing!

Nowt wrong with quinoa just don’t over cook it. Puy lentils in my lasagne, lovely meat alternative.
Liebour? Lost my vote long before this latest round of ineptitude.

This!! Bit long for a T-shirt slogan but it needs to be on a banner or something. 86% of effects of austerity fall on women but note how the word mothers and lone parent mothers have already been disappeared already, even though they constitute this group of grossly targeted women.

So not only women but mothers have become colonised terms

Oxytocindeficient · 27/01/2019 21:11

womanformallyknownaswoman Ben & Jerry’s has pretty good vegan ice cream, bit expensive for us as a regular thing so I make my own. Frozen sliced bananas & cocoa powder, blended. It’s soft ice cream but I proper ice cream is too hard and cold!!

Yeah, so we make 6 thyroid hormones, T1- T6. They don’t understand what the others do, but NDT has them all from what I understand and that plays a part. I’m no expert, and everyone is different and you have to decide what’s best for you, but there’s just so many women who feel so much better on NDT. If only there was proper research on this... but women’s health problems just don’t get the attention. Also, I couldn’t afford to go through a private doctor for each prescription, I did for as long as I could afford. Now I buy it in from a pharmacy in America. Do you know of the stop the thyroid madness website? Really good info there

The power of words demonstrated right there.
