I hate aubergine. It tastes like fibrous wet bitter purple evil. They do look very satisfyingly shiny on the shelves in the shop, though. But it's pure bait and switch.

I’ve had an enormous amount of crap from non vegans and the ‘jokes’ about how awful vegan food is pretty regular. It’s funny because I grew up on a farm and in a very large extended family ( dad had 18 siblings ) all involved in farming in some way, never a peep of teasing and nothing but respect for each other....

But I digress... I admit I used to close my eyes and mind to the warning signs in the left, because I was of the left v right thinking. I also was one of those people that believes in voting, always. It was very hard not to vote last time, but I could not in good conscience vote for anyone wishing to open our spaces to men. What to do...

But you and others aren't going to do that. It's not an all or nothing situation. Hearing an opinion isn't going to make you right wing.

Some supporters of those campaigns are willing to do this and others are not. There is no right or wrong overall choice - everyone must make up their own mind as how best their objective can be achieved.

Indeed. I have serious issues with American Christian Evangelism. I choose not to align with them. I will fight tooth and nail for those who choose to, because I believe they absolutely have that right - because that's what democracy is about. Respecting the free will of each individual to make a personal choice, especially when I may not agree with that choice.

I respect Jean's choice not to be involved. I also respect Posie's choice to work with these groups. Simple as that.

aubergines grow on you but require salting and bitter juices drained out of them and then doubled cooked with garlic and onions and courgettes into ratters which is then frozen and used during the winter months - so worth the work -
