Prominent New Zealand lawyer calls GC women 'anti trans whores'.

I have never started a thread on mumsnet but I am so angry I have had to as I can't see it mentioned in other threads and it is my (small) stand.

Earlier today Steph Dyhrberg, a prominent lawyer in NZ , a self proclaimed 'stroppy feminist' and the 2018 WELLINGTONIAN OF THE YEAR, in a now deleted tweet, called GC women 'anti trans whores'. She subsequently apologised for the word, saying 'it was demeaning to sex workers'.

I am so disappointed? enraged? consumed by this - a woman calls another woman a whore because she believes sex is a definable biological category. It is utterly awful.

I still feel a sense of shock I guess that we have ended up here.

I suppose there have always been women doing men's dirty work for them, in other time's and other cultures. Arranging marriages, taking their daughters on holiday to be cut, prioritising their sons over their daughters, in lots of ways, small and large.
I just find today's Aunt Lydias more infuriating because this is about BIOLOGY, these are biological women who have periods etc denying that biology.

Also when did the Greens stop being about saving the planet and roll over to be the trans party of choice? I missed that one.

Agree Reflectent it’s complex. Also a lot about the way people are brought up, what they do and don’t internalise etc.
Also agree Eresh about cutting slack occasionally, I do it too. In this instance though- ugh. Who calls women ‘anti-trans whores’? What a fucked up thing to say.

It just shows the hypocrisy. Of course they know that's a lie.

The libfem girls I know call women they hate all sorts of nasty misogynistic names. Bitch, Cnt, Wh*re, Prudes. It's fine if they are conservative in their opinion. Or if they are GC or oppose prostitution.
