Courting the far right is wrong....

OneTimeThing · 26/01/2019 08:12

...if you follow that with a ‘but’ to justify Posie Parker’s courting of the far right, then you are a fascist.

I said I would only post one thing on this board. I kept that promise.

But this is the pits right here. Posie Parker is seeking funding and making deals with white supremacist, crypto fascists, misogynists, homophobes and racists. How does this not show you what your movement is and has always been?

You need to look at yourselves. If your response is anything other than total rejection of posie Parker and all the groups she is involving herself with, then you are just as bad. If you think that trans people/‘trans activists’ are worse than Tommy Robinson, ultra trump supporters and others who spew far right views then you are a racist, sexist, homophobic nightmare. Those labels equally describe what a person is as well as what a person does.

“But what about TRA’s?” Some of you will want to scream at me.

You don’t see Paris Lees going off to get funding from literal fascists. Hell, Caitlin Jenner votes for trump and the global trans community has never and will never forgive her. And either way, none of what “they” do will magically make it okay to go suck up to people that think gay people should be sterilised or that Muslim’s are evil.

Transphobia is revolting. It’s wrong, and it comes as no surprise to hear that transphobia (which most of you peddle right here) will eventually push people towards other kinds of hate.

Take a long hard look at yourselves. I’m a transgender woman, a mum, and I hope at least some of you are seriously thinking about what kind of person you want to be.

Besides a few people saying ‘well Islam is bad for woman’ and ‘anti abortion people deserve to be heard’ No one has really commented on it. You’ve just all pounced on the first thing you can find to criticise and gone with it.
That is what nodebate looks like

I'm not sure I entirely follow this point but Islam is fair game to be criticised in the same way as any other religion. Are you seriously suggesting that a comment about not liking to see small girls wearing a hijab is evidence of Islamaphobia ?

lisamuggeridge · 26/01/2019 18:36

I wont pretend that Posie's hounding wasnt what it was and wasnt openly done. It was and it was educational. No secret me and Posie are not friends, that is still true. THis appears to be beyond the comprehension of people who live for audiences of crazy internet people. Which is not a shock I suppose.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/01/2019 18:38

"I don't like her but still don't want to see her mobbed by flying ragemonkeys" does indeed seem to be beyond the comprehension of TRAs. Awfully vengeful, they are.

Datun · 26/01/2019 18:39

When Posie posts the definition of an adult human female and stands back to await criticism, she is speaking for me.

She's not speaking for me about anything else.

Strewth. It's not complicated.

MargueritaPink · 26/01/2019 18:39

I do love how MN deleted my post saying not to start with the ‘you’re a man’ bullshit

I didn't see that post. FWIW I agree with you on the feebleness of the "you're a man posts"

I'm not particularly gender critical. I am however very opposed to tribalism.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 18:39

AspieAndProud

What brilliant knowledge.

Oxytocindeficient · 26/01/2019 18:40

I posted a link from Posie addressing some of the screenshots, as they’re out of context that’s only fair.

You’ve repeatedly claimed she’s a known bigot but actually given no proof of such. The screenshots regarding hijab, is not evidence of racism and it’s really silly and extremely far left thinking to suggest it is. We are allowed to criticise other religions or cultures and not be called racist for it. Children in hijab is disgusting to me. Any religion which makes women cover up deserves to be criticised.

You’ve had responses to the screenshots, it’s just not the response you wanted. That doesn’t equate to no debate. At all. You’re actually not making a ton of sense at all tbh

Earlywalker · 26/01/2019 18:40

I agree Marguerita in one sense but I think saying that Islam is ‘convert or die, not a peaceful religion’ is not the best way to discuss.

WrathofRancidKlopp · 26/01/2019 18:41

Ahh Crossroads
I've gone all nostalgic now.
Haha I remember there was a Mrs Whittle who I think was a cleaner.

Can't stand Stonewall sponsored Emmerdale.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 18:41

Wait are you guys saying that humans are very complex and can have a range of opinions on topics?

Oxytocindeficient · 26/01/2019 18:41

MargueritaPink actually the comment deleted said, ‘ you can fuck off’, that’s why it would have been removed I would of thought.

RepealTheGRA · 26/01/2019 18:42

The irony of posting screenshots and saying that we shouldn’t agree with anything said by someone who’s tweeted X on a thread where people are discussing the problems caused by groupthink and tribalism.

Once again for the hard of hearing at the back.

I stand with Jean.

I stand with Posie.

I stand with Caroline Farrow.

I stand with all women, even those poor deluded sods who have just admitted to voting Lib Dem.

Fuck it, I even stand with banana curry pizza eating women, they are all entitled to respect, free speech and sex based rights.

Oxytocindeficient · 26/01/2019 18:43

I thought you were flouncing? You’re still debating, so clearly claims of ‘no debate’ are not true.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 18:43

You people here discussing issues and responding openly are identical to nodebate.
ADMIT IT!

MargueritaPink · 26/01/2019 18:44

You’ve had responses to the screenshots, it’s just not the response you wanted. That doesn’t equate to no debate. At all. You’re actually not making a ton of sense at all tbh

Indeed. I assume the screenshots were meant to be a "gotcha". Here is Yasmin Alibhai- Brown on the same subject.

JellySlice · 26/01/2019 18:46

How dare you accuse me of cultural appropriation! If I identify as Scottish I AM Scottish! TSAS!

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 18:48

There are people who have come here to good old Mumsnet, fully expecting the reported "hot bed of transphobic repute" and actually realised it's not, then stayed because it's a fun place.
There are other who expect to be torn to shreds by the nest of vipers but realise after they've posted that they are excepted with open arms regardless of opinion.

It's happened a few times and it always makes me smile.

Earlywalker · 26/01/2019 18:49

The screenshots were sent in response to people saying ‘she’s not done anything, I’ve not seen any proof of her being this or that’
I didn’t post the screenshots and say anyone had to agree with me, I said this:

Two more for you, for anyone that maybe hasn’t done their research on who exactly they are supporting.

Why people are so intent on twisting things I simply don’t understand. Robust arguments don’t require lies.

The thread is regarding Posie, if you don’t want to discuss it why are you here?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 18:50

It's why we have a growing number of transpeople posting.

Bowlofbabelfish · 26/01/2019 18:50

So i have to agree 100% with posie on all issues? Well this is going to take a while. I’m going to have to ask her to fill out this 736 page questionnaire to make sure we are totally aligned.

Buckle up, Posie!

  1. Pickled onion crisps - evil. Y/N ?

We keep seeing this though dont we? The idea that we are being led rather than individuals. We must have a leader - women can’t possibly come to their own opinion. Must be Christian Right money for that metro ad - cant possibly be a few thousand women chucking a fiver in. Can’t possibly see enough nuance to say well, I agree with you on the pickled onion crisps but not on x, but that’s Ok. We must be passive followers.

The alternative is that several thousand- maybe even tens of thousands ... maybe even most women want to keep women only spaces, are worried about the rollback of our rights and would like to do something about it. Without being told what to think by a leader.

Divide and conquer. Tell women that if they think this, or agree with this, that they are extreme right. Demonise anyone who puts their head above the parapet. burn the witch.

MargueritaPink · 26/01/2019 18:51

but I think saying that Islam is ‘convert or die, not a peaceful religion’ is not the best way to discuss

But for non- Muslims or Muslims who abandon their faith in some Muslim countries it is - or a go to jail for a very long time. Are we not allowed to discuss that?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 18:51

Why people are so intent on twisting things I simply don’t understand.

The opening post does this.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 18:52

Nobody agrees with anybody 100% of the time not even our leader and God Posie Parker.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 18:53

I hope bits of this thread get chopped up out of context, then we can have some really disappointed people coming and post on it.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/01/2019 18:54

The opening post couldn't have been more manipulative if it tried. Manipulation is not nice. It's not kind, it's not ethical, it's not a sign that the person doing it is in the right.

No amount of manipulation is ever going to convince people that what they can see with their own eyes isn't true.
