Courting the far right is wrong....

OneTimeThing · 26/01/2019 08:12

...if you follow that with a ‘but’ to justify Posie Parker’s courting of the far right, then you are a fascist.

I said I would only post one thing on this board. I kept that promise.

But this is the pits right here. Posie Parker is seeking funding and making deals with white supremacist, crypto fascists, misogynists, homophobes and racists. How does this not show you what your movement is and has always been?

You need to look at yourselves. If your response is anything other than total rejection of posie Parker and all the groups she is involving herself with, then you are just as bad. If you think that trans people/‘trans activists’ are worse than Tommy Robinson, ultra trump supporters and others who spew far right views then you are a racist, sexist, homophobic nightmare. Those labels equally describe what a person is as well as what a person does.

“But what about TRA’s?” Some of you will want to scream at me.

You don’t see Paris Lees going off to get funding from literal fascists. Hell, Caitlin Jenner votes for trump and the global trans community has never and will never forgive her. And either way, none of what “they” do will magically make it okay to go suck up to people that think gay people should be sterilised or that Muslim’s are evil.

Transphobia is revolting. It’s wrong, and it comes as no surprise to hear that transphobia (which most of you peddle right here) will eventually push people towards other kinds of hate.

Take a long hard look at yourselves. I’m a transgender woman, a mum, and I hope at least some of you are seriously thinking about what kind of person you want to be.

Sigh. Flouncing is so last year.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/01/2019 18:05

As flounces go "tyrannical" used to describe people taking the piss is pretty funny, though.

LangCleg · 26/01/2019 18:06

Who was he in the old BBC series?

Jeffrey Perry.

BettyDuMonde · 26/01/2019 18:06

My Bloody Mary breakfast led to a long and delicious map and I appear to have woken up to what may now be the best thread ever. Can Mumsnet move it to Classics, please?

5 pages on and i’m still chuckling at ‘swhittle’ the verb.

BettyDuMonde · 26/01/2019 18:06

Nap

WeRiseUp · 26/01/2019 18:08

I dunno. It seems like a fair few flouncers today. It's almost like there might be a pattern..... particularly since they have been on 2 divide a conquer threads.

lisamuggeridge · 26/01/2019 18:08

I havent had a bloody mary for breakfast for years. Vodka on ice, worcester sauce, tobasco, dry sherry, celery salt, tomato juice. Lots ice. Jug. Oh my god does that mean am old? Do they burn you at the stake for that? We could still double book, we should probably make a list of wrongthiink and punishment.

WrathofRancidKlopp · 26/01/2019 18:09

Aak
It's not nice to make people laugh when they're drinking something

You're on top form today Grin

WrathofRancidKlopp · 26/01/2019 18:10

Another thread?
I've missed that, oh noes.

Oxytocindeficient · 26/01/2019 18:13

Earlywalker flounced because one of their comments was deleted for breaking guidelines- just spotted it. Careful, 3 strikes and you’re out.

Earlywalker · 26/01/2019 18:15

I’ve only posted on this thread not another one. I stopped reading after I last posted tbh, someone said something along the lines of ‘you think GC people are all evil bastards’
I do love how MN deleted my post saying not to start with the ‘you’re a man’ bullshit. It’s funny isn’t it, what you all report during a debate yapping on about ‘free speech’ Almost like you want no debate censorship.
It’s very telling that me simply showing what Posie has openly said and done, in response to people claiming she’s done ‘nothing’ has been met with such hostility.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 26/01/2019 18:17

jeez louise

it's not you showing what posie has said (you've said nothing about what she's done BTW, unless you consider the billboards to be A BAD THING)

it's you trying to imply she's some sort of leader and trying to encourage people to excommunicate her in some way

it's dead annoying

Datun · 26/01/2019 18:17

You think a feminist that’s just entered the GC world is going to want to get on board with anti abortion protestors? You think anyone is going to believe it’s all in the name of woman when you don’t condem people like that?

Do you think that it's only gender critical feminists who object to this? Gender critical feminists are a tiny minority of people who object to this. Although, I grant you, that once people see the problem, many non-feminists, become feminist.

People who understand science and who grasp, in a nanosecond, the danger of men in women's spaces, will, guess what? encompass racists, sexists and every other ists. It's going to encompass everyone.

The builder I'm using wouldn't understand gender critical feminism if I took all day, neither could he give a fuck. But he totally doesn't want blokes in women's spaces.

Nor, as he earnestly tried to make me understand, does he want women in his toilets.

QuietContraryMary · 26/01/2019 18:20

Does anyone have any tonic water recommendations? The poncey Fever Tree stuff costs a fortune but the Sainsbury's own brand tastes like shit with the nasty chemical sweeteners the government wants us to have more of

birdsdestiny · 26/01/2019 18:23

Yep not a single straight man ( tory, Labour, bnp, racist, liberal) not a single one actually believes TWAW, when you get down to the nitty gritty. They aren't feminists either some may even be anti abortion. What the fuck should we do.

Earlywalker · 26/01/2019 18:24

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly
I think you illustrate the problem nicely.
I posted several screenshots showing exactly what she’s said and who she’s partnered up with. Besides a few people saying ‘well Islam is bad for woman’ and ‘anti abortion people deserve to be heard’ No one has really commented on it. You’ve just all pounced on the first thing you can find to criticise and gone with it.
That is what nodebate looks like.

WrathofRancidKlopp · 26/01/2019 18:26

Datun
once people see the problem, many non-feminists, become feminist

They can also become feminist allies like Glinner.
This is fine by me as this is a huge, single issue that needs to be discussed openly.

feministfairy · 26/01/2019 18:28

Earlywalker:
You are free to post what you like about Posy Nobody has called for you to be silenced, doxxed, thrown out, sacked or beaten. That's what free speech looks like.
Your points have been argued with. I can see that some of those screenshots have been taken from a 'discussion'. Without the context, I am not going to decide on 'guilt' or otherwise. That's reserved for idiots like Dr Haddock.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 26/01/2019 18:29

to be explicit, I have thorough;y objected to some of the things Posie says, and have in fact had a proper ding dong on here with her about them

however

  1. she's not here to defend herself, so if I argued now it would be a bit pointless and one sided

  2. on the subject of whether men should be able to identify their way into the ladies loos, I agree with her views 100%

  3. how she chooses to conduct herself is her business

lisamuggeridge · 26/01/2019 18:29

Earlywalker I know this is shocking to you, but women dont get fucked over on the basis of where on the political spectrum they are. We dont all think the same, we dont even like each other, often, but the kind of authority you are expecting us to assert here is about your own weird view of a world I have never lived in. Or would want to.

This thread is excellent.

On the whole, I'm with Daenerys talking to Cersei to withstand being overrun by White Walkers probably being a good thing.

I can see where Jean is coming from also, & respect her position.

Disclaimer: no, I did not just equate trans people to zombies, or for that matter suggest that PP has dragons at her disposal. Tis merely a metaphor, innit.

Also agree that upsetting batshit misogynists on Twitter is a given, so meh to them.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/01/2019 18:31

Nah, nodebate looks like threatening to get someone sacked or sending the police to talk to them if they say something you don't like. Taking the piss is not nodebate. In fact it's a fine Mumsnet tradition.

Oxytocindeficient · 26/01/2019 18:31

Almost like you want no debate censorship.

No. We are all subject to guidelines enforced because of TRA’s hounding of MN. Posie was banned from MN for violating them. Why should you not be subject to the same rules? If you name-call and swear at people here, you’ll have comments deleted. I’ve had comments deleted for swearing about TRA’s.

AspieAndProud · 26/01/2019 18:35

Who was he in the old BBC series?

Jeffrey Perry in the Eighties version, Angus Lennie in the Sixties one. Don’t know much else Perry did but Lennie was in The Great Escape (Steve McQueen’s mate) and Crossroads
