This whole hate speech/incident law is completely out of control. This is sinister.

'They say something is a hate incident if the victim or anyone else think it was motivated by hostility or prejudice based on one of the following things:

  • disability
  • race
  • religion
  • transgender identity
  • sexual orientation.'

So any objection to a male in female-only areas is actually fine, then, provided you'd equally object to a transwoman or bog-standard man in that situation.

Oxytocindeficient · 29/01/2019 17:11

Surely Harry can log that Harrop tweet as a hate incident or threat?

Popchyk · 29/01/2019 17:24

There are more than two thousand comments on the Humberside Police Twitter statement now.

Crikey.

TimeLady · 29/01/2019 17:29

Harry, you might well be peak transing the nation Grin

Carowiththegoodhair · 29/01/2019 17:33

I asked Stephanie for a round of golf and they called me a disgusting unforgiving hypocritical Christian bigot before deleting it.

Wish I had the foresight to screenshat the thing.

Bittermints · 29/01/2019 17:33

It wasn't Hayden who launched the private prosecution against Venice and Linda (which FAILED), it was Giuliana Kendal.

Anyone puzzled by the references to golf clubs - look here.

Iggi999 · 29/01/2019 17:39

I hadn’t realised it was a parking dispute! Should have come on here with a diagram instead of assaulting someone.

Melroses · 29/01/2019 17:44

I hadn’t realised it was a parking dispute! Should have come on here with a diagram instead of assaulting someone.

Yes that stood out to me too. How many crimes of violence has Mumsnet prevented with a demand for a diagram. Smile

RepealTheGRA · 29/01/2019 17:44

So it was Bittermints Blush I’ve got my idiots confused. Is Stephanie the one who identifies as a lawyer and called the police on Graham Linehan?

Carowiththegoodhair · 29/01/2019 17:45

Definitely an implied threat of violence. But Harry has been talking about trans issues on the internet, so as far as the police are concerned...

Anything from the GMC yet?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 29/01/2019 17:47

I don't know own why that article states that The judge noted that Halliday had appeared in court and been convicted in respect of several other crimes, which included disorderly behaviour and "a number of offences of dishonesty".

When as far as I know the judge actually stated ^He had appeared before the courts on five previous
occasions for offences which included disorderly behaviour, indecent assault on a male, and
also a number of offences of dishonesty^

Not sure why it misses out the indecent assault?

SmallHaddockAndChips · 29/01/2019 17:48

Ah now I get the references to threats of violence!

Can I also just say - and I think Harry has said the same - the fault here isn’t really with the PC who rang him, it’s the legislation and guidelines that are to blame.

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/01/2019 17:49

Bluestitch I think @JSoosty might be interested in your screenshot

RepealTheGRA · 29/01/2019 17:50

Oh yes, responsibility rests MUCH higher up than PC Gul.

Oxytocindeficient · 29/01/2019 17:51

This is so sad I can’t even...

Oxytocindeficient · 29/01/2019 17:52

Didn’t have the fucking resources for someone’s life. Ffs. I am actually pretty mad now.

Bluestitch · 29/01/2019 17:53

Thanks BoreofWhabylon one of them is clear doxxing.

Imnobody4 · 29/01/2019 18:16

That is most definitely a hate incident - protected category religion.

Poor deluded PC Gul will be currently finding out that corporate responsibility always devolves downwards to the the junior staff member.

rytonsister · 29/01/2019 18:48

oxy - did the family take any responsibility and investigate the flat before calling police i wonder?

that happens a lot. people living 2 miles up the road but devolve responsibility to another agency.

fair enough if they lived other side of country but rarely is that the case.

rytonsister · 29/01/2019 19:03

ive just read the statement from humberside police - i cant really see the issue with what they have said to be honest, but i see it from both sides.

professionally i have to investigate some absolute rot and bollocks that wouldnt be worth taking the lid of my pen for.

policing in the uk is fucked quite frankly. no common sense is applied any more and we just spend hours pandering to people who didnt like the hurty words on facebook/twitter. etc

i would much rather spend my time preventing and investigating crime. sadly the police is no longer a "force" but now a "service" run pretty much like any other "customer service" .

Bluestitch · 29/01/2019 19:05

Don't you think there is an issue with contacting someone's workplace, telling them boys grow girl brains in the womb and to check their thinking? They have decided to get involved in enforcing an ideology. There was no crime committed.

rytonsister · 29/01/2019 19:10

hate incidents have to be logged - not necessarily a crime but if someone phones 101 complaining the hurty words upset them and they needs the there there cream and the bad man telling off then im afraid police officers are merely fucking puppets and have to record a "hate incident"

i agree with you. its not that i dont. i think its absolute bullshit. i wish we could just say go get a fucking life and contact the police when you need to report a CRIME.

i say this quite often actually. one of these days i will get the sack except i do tend to phrase it rather more diplomatically than that - i do often tell folk however that the police are there to deal with crime and offences and if no offence has occurred then get a life and find someone else to whinge to....

i will get sacked on of these days.

SharkBastard · 29/01/2019 19:12

So what happens when a serious crime has been committed and yet no contact is made? Is there a hierarchy of investigation?

TimeLady · 29/01/2019 19:16

I think it's imperative that hate crimes and hate incidents are logged and reported separately in annual figures, otherwise these meaningless 'incidents' are simply going to skew the stats.
