If anyone like myself was "peak transed" by the McKinnon story, and they know of someone who needs convincing about TW's competing in women's sport, then this may help.
I don't know how this went under my radar, but in New Zealand there is a young (21) downhill mountain bike rider called Kate Weatherly, who up to around 14 months ago was competing as a pretty average guy. Within 3 weeks of leaving the male side of the sport, Weatherly won their first women's race, and went on to win the 2018 National New Zealand championships in February of last year.
Weatherly will this year be riding in World Cup events.
Fellow competitors are not happy about it, and I know that I wouldn't be if I was in their situation.

Cheating. That is all.

VickyEadie · 23/01/2019 16:06

Part of the steady 'drip, drip, drip' of this is to make us think there will be so few - and (as in McKinnon's case) they won't really challenge at the usual elite adult level. so it won't matter, will it?

But here we are - a young adult person who was a mediocre male competitor now entering as a woman and winning at elite level.

Drip, drip, drip...

The confusion about the crossover period of transgender athletes is now causing some riders to shy away from competition in the sport, according the NZ Herald. Those would the female riders for whom the category is designed. Pushing women out of spaces and opportunities left and right.

Weatherly, the male cyclist: “If everyone’s not happy then maybe everyone’s not doing their best racing and I just want everyone to be having fun and doing their best.” Same rubbish as spouted by McKinnon and friends: if only women tried harder then surely they could beat males.

FGS. Thanks for posting, Andy.

AssassinatedBeauty · 23/01/2019 16:09

At least as more of these individuals become apparent, it will become clearer and clearer that they have an obvious advantage over women competitors. It will be hard to stick to the fantasy that reducing testosterone to low male levels makes any difference.

AnotherBewilderedQuoll · 23/01/2019 16:09

Another cyclist unencumbered by integrity. Cheat.

GerryblewuptheER · 23/01/2019 16:13

Well as was announced on radio. Women cap themselves and need to try harder 🙄

I've had colds longer than that person waited .

It's unfair plain and simple.

They are a big fat cheat

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 23/01/2019 16:13

Good.

The more of this that comes out, the better.

JSmitty · 23/01/2019 16:56

It's OK. My Kawaski 750cc triple identifies as a pedal cycle.

CallingDannyBoy · 23/01/2019 16:58

It’s Emperor’s New clothes and I can’t understand why people try to argue it’s fair. It’s making me angry now.

ScienceIsTruth · 23/01/2019 17:02

I see there's the usual: "it's not my fault that the women don't try harder".

It's also not the women's fault that he wasn't good enough to place in the men's races.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 23/01/2019 17:07

Wait until there are two in the same race. I can only imagine the excuses of whoever comes second. It won’t be pretty or ladylike.

SkylightAndChandelier · 23/01/2019 17:08

The confusion about the crossover period of transgender athletes is now causing some riders to shy away from competition in the sport, according the NZ Herald

Was it on here or in an article that the reason women were staying away was that having an amateur barrelling down a hill behind (or in front) of you is bloody dangerous, especially when they've got a good few kilos on you due to their larger frame.

“If everyone’s not happy then maybe everyone’s not doing their best racing and I just want everyone to be having fun and doing their best.”

Weatherly's best just isn't up to standard, that's the problem, and it's dangerous to the other racers.

littlbrowndog · 23/01/2019 17:39

Don’t they feel any shame. Just a wee bit of shame over their cheating

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 23/01/2019 17:43

Nope

andyoldlabour · 23/01/2019 18:14

I am going to have to monitor Weatherly's progress at the various World Cup events this year, because Britain's Rachel Atherton is a four time winner.
I only happened across Weatherley by chance when looking at this cyclist, another Canadian TW - Michelle Dumaresq.

www.outsideonline.com/1822371/michelle-raises-hell

As if that wasn't bad enough, one of the women competitors who complained about Dumaresq was banned for 3 months.

Another mediocre male trans person wins female race. How to cheat your way to the top.
What’s next I wonder? Competing against people with disabilities and smugly claiming disabled athletes should ‘try harder’.

BeUpStanding · 23/01/2019 18:30

CHEAT, CHEATER, CHEATING, CHEAT CHEAT CHEAT

JackyHolyoake · 23/01/2019 18:46

What will become even more apparent is that the entire "transgender" agenda is entirely bogus and that it is males' intent to eliminate females from public life in all its spheres.

WrathofRancidKlopp · 23/01/2019 19:33

Don't forget the joy of showering and changing with the girls.

Cheat

Zwischenwasser · 23/01/2019 20:04

This was what Peak transed me last year.

The ‚‘i have no advantage, despite obviously being a shit male Rider 3 weeks ago. Women should try harder‘ attitude.

FFS

Cheaty McCheatface

MsTSwift · 23/01/2019 20:29

Beup I think you need to get off the be fence Grin

andyoldlabour · 23/01/2019 22:16

Lance Armstrong in my opinion was a cheat and a doper, but he didn't get anywhere close to what these people are doing.
There is something very sinister about a system which allows this to happen.

Porridgeoat · 23/01/2019 22:24

‘If everyone’s not happy then maybe everyone’s not doing their best racing and I just want everyone to be having fun and doing their best.” Said weatherly.

Women try harder!?

WokerThanWoke · 23/01/2019 23:03

Lance Armstrong at least made an effort with his cheating.
