First post is asinine at best, but the replies are gold.

I've been wondering more and more if things are really changing or I'm seeing more GC material because I'm looking for it and creating an echo chamber, but this is spontaneous and I don't see a pile on in response.

What do you think? Wishful thinking or a real change?

The public has never been behind this, their eyes are opening, so in that respect things are changing.
However those in power are very adamant self ID and erasure is going to happen, so it will happen.
But remember, rules only work if people follow them, the more the public know, the less they will follow this.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 19/01/2019 19:44

Some great, funny responses

MoreCheeseDear · 19/01/2019 19:53

Fabulous.

Smellbellina · 19/01/2019 19:54

I think there is a bit of a tide turn. Has there been a thread about Gloria Hunniford on Loose Women in the week? I couldn’t see one when I looked.

BirdieInTheHand · 19/01/2019 20:10

It's always been a very small but terrifyingly vocal section that think TWAW.

The public at large are content to call "jack" "Jackie" to be nice but the vast vast majority of people don't actually believe he is a woman.

endchauvinism · 19/01/2019 22:22

That's so encouraging. A lot of the responses are ones I've been thinking myself. It's so nice not to be alone. The mainstream media won't show it but the vast majority of people don't believe transwomen are the same as biological women.
At work on the breakroom television a transwoman was boxing a woman and really beating her. All my co-workers referred to the transwoman as "he" without giving it much thought.

HumourlessFeminist · 19/01/2019 22:46

😂 Some of the replies are very funny.

OlennasWimple · 19/01/2019 23:08

Nah, it's OK, we can all ignore most of the responses because they are by "old ass ladies". Which is a) assuming the gender of most of them; b) presumably all the ones from men are a-OK; and c) nothing like a bit of ageism to compliment one's misogyny, eh?

failingatlife · 19/01/2019 23:33

I liked this replyGrin

My favorite one so far:

“ts true many women no longer have a uterus & a small number are born without one but I have never met a single woman who begrudges others their womb or demands that women's bodies are not spoken of in their presence. Watch out your misogyny is showing.”

Katispancuddly · 20/01/2019 11:23

Oh the silly child.
They should stick to wanting One Direction to reform.
Sigh

almost every single response is passionately and resolutely telling that person to stop being ridiculous. It gives me hope. And the GC crowd on Twitter usually sound educated, informed and calm, unlike the Trans activists who mostly seem to sound unhinged and deluded.

teawamutu · 20/01/2019 12:28

I considered starting another thread for this gem but don't want to spam FWR - behold: mobile.twitter.com/owlandcoconut/status/1086909449376284672

Here is another excellent twitter feed, and it shows that a lot more people are aware and spreading the news.

tea links not working for me... you tease!!!

R0wantrees · 20/01/2019 13:32

Was this the Owl & Coconut gem?

Given all the the mental health issues and cuts to services.
This is suggested by a project which receives public funding and lottery grants.

(and who clearly have no concept of duty of care or safeguarding or AGP)

teawamutu · 20/01/2019 13:33

Oh! They must have taken it down. It was some wokey collective called Owl and Coconut offering an empowering Glitter Tits (I shit you not) painting session with prosecco for 'self-identifying women' in Manchester.

The responses were an utter joy, ranging from how 'painting your baps' could possibly be empowering to the environmental damage of glitter to the likelihood of any actual women turning up and why men might want to.

teawamutu · 20/01/2019 13:34

XP - thanks R0wan, glad to see it's not entirely lost to posterity. Wonder if the actual event will be cancelled?

R0wantrees · 20/01/2019 13:35

Someone should go along.

Its beyond parody.

R0wantrees · 20/01/2019 13:37

Lot going on in Manchester!
Not all of it is good or as progressive as the claims made.

Much is very regressive, just decorated with glitter.

Purplewithgreenspots · 20/01/2019 13:50

How many women do identify as ‘cis’ women, though? I think I might have met one when I was campaigning against the GRA changes.

pearlkent · 20/01/2019 14:01

There seems to be more decent men writing about this too - a link on the Dr Dutch twitter account that andyoldlabour linked too is this gem from "Ben":

andyoldlabour · 20/01/2019 15:22

"is this gem from "Ben""

I would say that Ben has been well and truly "peak transed"
That is a brilliant Twitter thread.

Has anyone seen the coverage of this debate in private eye? Curious as to which way it runs. Sorry, just randomly saw an interview on YouTube with Ian Hislop, he mentioned the tra/terf wars and was met with incomprehension.
