Can't really see it catching on, to be honest.

'How has the form of your child been culturally interpreted?'

Today in "how to baffle and annoy anyone unfortunate enough to interact with you".

Quite. The woke shower and their need to make the simplest things dodgy for the unwoke.

SittingAround1 · 14/01/2019 14:12

I'd like to see how they'd react to the sonographer at a 20 week scan :
sonographer : you're having a boy
woke person : is that your cultural interpretation of the form of my unborn child ?
sonographer : no that's a willy you can see in the middle of the screen

AspieAndProud · 14/01/2019 14:15

My idea of hell is to be stuck next to one of these nuts on a long airplane journey. I’d rub sachets of ketchup on my eyes to fake Ebola.

AngryAttackKittens · 14/01/2019 14:16

"You're having twins"

(Narrows eyes) "Is that your cultural interpretation of the fact that there are two heartbeats and also two heads?"

AngryAttackKittens · 14/01/2019 14:16

I'd pretend not to speak whatever language they're evangelizing in.

VickyEadie · 14/01/2019 14:17

WHY have some people become like this? WHY?

I preferred it when it was just sexism we had to deal with.

userschmoozer · 14/01/2019 14:18

AspieAndProud Pmsl Grin

AngryAttackKittens · 14/01/2019 14:18

Maybe some people have always been like this, but being able to find each other online has encouraged them to become more aggressively irritating.

Leatherandsilk · 14/01/2019 14:21

Actually it is important.

Because otherwise I might buy the nappies where they catch wee at the back rather than most of the wee at the front.

I might not show you how to wipe babies bum front to back to avoid infection.

I might not have the chat about checking for hairs/strings in nappies as it can cut the circulation of their penis off.

There are ACTUAL considerations on how to treat males and females, from the very very first moment.

You woke prick.

FlippinFumin · 14/01/2019 14:23

But surely Butler and her work are not the end game of theories? These works are tools to help us interpret literature? Then in your essay or dissertation you would use a broad base of theorists and how they would interpret the text. You could use Butler and then juxtapose that argument with Marxist theory or another Feminist theorist. Then present your own argument. Or does it not work like that these days? Hmm

Tony2 · 14/01/2019 14:24

Personally I'm outraged that a woke person could possibly use the totally inappropriate word brainstormed. Does she not realise how deeply insulting it is to those who's lived experience could possibly result in being triggered by such an offensive word. Ban her from Twitter! To the reeducation gulag!

Knicknackpaddyflak · 14/01/2019 14:29

WHY have some people become like this? WHY?

Way, way too much time on their hands and not enough to think about. Basically.

Katvonbatshitmermaid · 14/01/2019 14:30

Tell me this is a parody / satire account

TELL ME IT'S NOT REAL

MagicMix · 14/01/2019 14:36

I agree that there are a few minor differences in infant care depending on genitals (not that I'd be offering unsolicited tips tbh), but is this really a thing? I have never seen sex-specific nappies in the shop here, sounds like a scam to be honest.

I've got one of each sex and they have used exactly the same nappies, never had any problems with leaking or anything.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/01/2019 14:38

"so, what genitals did yours get?"

Innie or outie?

Micke · 14/01/2019 14:39

As an entire aside, this can happen with swimming shorts too - the internal mesh, which looks too tiny to do anything, somehow, boys can get their foreskins caught through them in a little bubble. I know this because it happened to my son, and we had to spend a fraught few minutes under the beach parasol with a pair of nail clippers I happened to have in my bag to free him!

He's budgie smugglers all the way now.

InfiniteCurve · 14/01/2019 14:45

Them: "how has the form of your child been culturally interpreted?" Smile
Me:Sorry,what?
Them: um,the new baby - how has it's form been culturally interpreted?
Me:
Me: (silently) And please don't refer to my darling baby as 'it'....
Them: culturally we impose certain expectations on babies according to how they look as infants, what do people think about yours?
Me: Um,well,no ones said anything really....
Them: Confused
Me:Confused
Me: Don't you want to know how it all went ,and whether it's a boy or a girl? He's a boy actually, doesn't he look cute in his pink babygro?

Exeunt Omnes.......

AngryAttackKittens · 14/01/2019 14:46

We could have a whole series! Butler fans attempt normal social interactions, awkwardness ensues.

Olgatheoptimist · 14/01/2019 14:56

arggg I had two boys -no one ever told me that could happen. Still, I guess it would have just been one more thing for me to be neurotic about ...

Natsku · 14/01/2019 15:01

This is hilarious, off to find it on twitter and see what replies there are

And more importantly, I want to be prepared as to whether I'll be hit in the eye by a stream of pee the moment the nappy comes off.

My Ds' nappies are gender fluid

KatherinaMinola · 14/01/2019 15:08

It sounds like the first line of a free verse poem.

Maybe something by William Carlos Williams.

KatherinaMinola · 14/01/2019 15:13

how has the form
of your child
been culturally interpreted?

if one must ask
(and one need not)
how to define a just-born child without gender

people use so-called sex
but (as Butler reminds us)
so-called sex is not free
from so-called gender

how has the form of your child been culturally interpreted?

BettyDuMonde · 14/01/2019 15:15

That’ll make for a complicated ‘congrats on your new baby blank’ card.
