Can't really see it catching on, to be honest.

'How has the form of your child been culturally interpreted?'
OP posts:
CisMyArse · 14/01/2019 19:36

My idea of hell is to be stuck next to one of these nuts on a long airplane journey. I’d rub sachets of ketchup on my eyes to fake Ebola.

FFS Aspie there is tea and cake all over me and my friggin floor because of that Grin

CisMyArse · 14/01/2019 19:38

Lang, I know I shouldn't but...

One of mine was ventouse-assisted (don't ask) and he spent his first week as a Conehead.

...has had me shaking in mirth.
Your poor, lovely little cone-Head.

CisMyArse · 14/01/2019 19:41

I bet John Cleese is wondering whether this is some piss-take revival of his Monty Python stuff. It's terrifying that folk are serious about this. Utterly terrifying.

When they squeeze something the size of a melon out of a whole the size of a lemon, they're going to feel incredibly stupid about what they've posted.

coolcrispwinter · 14/01/2019 19:44

Well, if I say so myself, he's considered amazing! Work. Of. Art. No, Blush, no need to applaud...

ChewyLouie · 14/01/2019 19:56

Loving the comments on here 😀
Just trying to imagine someone actually coming out with this drivel when they first see a new born but my brain keeps switching to the AA episode with Father Jack when a do stops him buying a drink ... 🚑

Doobigetta · 14/01/2019 19:56

I think a more important question is “how much time could you spend with Hannah McCann before needing to stick forks in your eyes?”

Weezol · 14/01/2019 20:03

Is pre-emptive forking allowed?

My mum has just discovered the art of turning her hearing aids off when trapped amongst drivel mongers such as these. She's quietly elated.

Anewoneforme · 14/01/2019 20:12

Actually I'd love to see her asking that in, for example, a breastfeeding support group. Where normally a large proportion of the mother's have bleeding/sore nipples, possibly stitches or damage to the vagina and surrounding area, and probably suffering from extreme sleep deprivation!
She'd either get blank stares, or be told "get to fuck?!" Round here! Grin

ChattyLion · 14/01/2019 20:14

so many good responses. Smile

LangCleg · 14/01/2019 20:14

Lang, I know I shouldn't but...

Oh, shake away, m'dear. Thank fuck it was a long time ago!

BlackeyedGruesome · 14/01/2019 21:28

I would never shove them in front of the telly with cheesy wotsits! Shock

they don't bloody like cheesy wotsits, salt and vinegar here

(yep this is as far as I have got in the thread)

museumum · 14/01/2019 21:32

Surely if you want to reject all gender stereotyping the only question left is “does it have a penis or a vulva” and only in medical context.

BlackeyedGruesome · 14/01/2019 21:36

oi, oi, thingybob

you are responsible for dd spitting soya milk all over the keyboard and snorting it uyp her nose...

ps ex refused to be warned about pee in the eye, ds peed on his precious records and on ex's head

BlackeyedGruesome · 14/01/2019 21:43

Thank you, you lot are wonderful.

mine was forceps assisted and had a black eye and bruised face.

deepwatersolo · 14/01/2019 21:52

Ironically, the simple question 'what is the baby's name?' will easily clarify the baby's sex in >95% of cases.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 14/01/2019 22:08

Grin Threewheeler!

My youngest came out facing the wrong way, not breech, but head looking up rather than down. Sunny side up they call it, friggin painful I called it.
His cone was on his forehead. Like a unicorn.

Also, what is 'aesthetic labour'?
Is that like, wearing makeup to give birth? Or that your look takes a lot of work? Neither of those is for me. Don't think we'd get along.

MargueritaPink · 14/01/2019 23:19

And the rest of the world will continue as usual to receive work emails about colleagues on maternity announcing "it's a boy" or "it's a girl". And no one will have a second thought about this.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/01/2019 23:48

Wouldn't these woke types just ask what pronouns to use?Confused

'So-called sex'. FFS.

FlatCapAndNoIdea · 14/01/2019 23:59

Threewheeler1 I so, so desperately wish you had a video of that doctor trying to keep a straight face in front of the panicky new mum worried her baby's arse-crack is too long Grin

StrangeLookingParasite · 15/01/2019 14:07

My idea of hell is to be stuck next to one of these nuts on a long airplane journey. I’d rub sachets of ketchup on my eyes to fake Ebola.

I love this so much.

GrumpyGran8 · 15/01/2019 14:43

She has now hastily back-pedalled, claiming that it was "tongue in cheek". She doesn't explain how we're supposed to tell the difference between "tongue in cheek" and "bollocks" in a tweet coming from somebody whose bio reads Research on femininity, postfeminism, fangirls, aesthetic labour, queer theory.

CandleConcerto · 15/01/2019 14:48

It’s all well and good using ‘baby’ to replace pronouns but once you know the kid’s name (I’m assuming it has a name) you’d be a bit of a prick to keep using gender neutral pronouns in most cases. Believe it or not, a vast majority of new parents are totally cool with their kids sex being decided by their genitalia.

GrumpyGran8 · 15/01/2019 14:52

She's also handily provided a link to an essay on her website: binarythis.com/2018/04/08/why-trans-exclusionary-feminism-is-anti-feminist/ where she "answers" Hadley Freeman's critical Guardian article on the GRA.
Note how she calls Mumsnet a mummy-blog-turned-radical-feminist group. Mummies, you have been told - you cannot be radical feminists! Get back to your kitchens - this lecturer in Cultural Studies has spoken!

Poppyred85 · 15/01/2019 15:01

Mine turned up 10 weeks early and still had lots of fine dark hair on his forehead, shoulders and back so initially we interpreted him as some sort of capuchin monkey.

Not dissimilar to this one

'How has the form of your child been culturally interpreted?'
deepwatersolo · 17/01/2019 08:29

Oh, that's a sweet pic Poppy, capuchin monkey babies rock!
