How is she anything to do with the new gender politics? According to The Times, a celebration about her in Waltham forest will be ‘very queer’, including style, food, gender politics and aspiration. I thought she was just a cook but correct me if I’m wrong.

My mum told me she was unhygienic

I must admit I did shudder inwardly when she smeared all that egg white on the "paste" and then just carried on without washing her hands. I've just been reading up on her on Wikipedia - she certainly had an interesting life.

Imagine if you had to eat her food. [shudders]

Gosh. Just read wiki about her.

“However it did lead to one episode where she was making a roast dinner and dropped the chicken on the floor. She picked it up, picked off any fluff and said ‘remember, you are alone in your own kitchen’ while plonking it back on the plate”

I’m sure we have all done that 😂😇

Only if the dog hasn't got there first. 😚😁

There is a parody account on Twitter : Dr Fanny Cradock
"I'm the one your mother told you to listen to.

#AlcoholSoakedIndividualapparently
#RadFem"

Tweets in the inimitable style of Her Ladyship but with added quirks Grin

That omelette! 🤢

I normally only lurk on this board, as I think you're all fabulous, but never have anything to add.

I'm very puzzled about Fanny Cradock and gender politics, so fell down a bit of a wiki wormhole. And this stood out, in relevance to the thread,

When she appeared on the television chat show Parkinson with Danny La Rue and it was revealed to her that La Rue was actually a female impersonator, she stormed off the set.[28]

I've had so many moments over the last few years when I've been tempted to join Twitter. But then didn't because I'm too chicken for the toxic crap that could come my way plus I'm sure my blood pressure would rocket.

That Twitter account could make me do it! Hilarious.

That video is amazing. Mincemeat omelette!

And when she says men don't like small mince pies. So amazing.

I am a Fanny fan.

ChesterGreySideboard · 15/01/2019 14:14

it was revealed to her that La Rue was actually a female impersonator

How did she not know? Honestly.

RiddleyW · 15/01/2019 14:16

How did she not know? Honestly.

I don't think he was in drag at the time - I think she just didn't know who he was. I'm just guessing.

VickyEadie · 15/01/2019 14:16

I know! La Rue was unquestionably a bloke.

RiverTam · 15/01/2019 14:18

'unhygienic fanny' GrinGrinGrin

RiverTam · 15/01/2019 14:20

that Twitter is fucking hilarious. And that photo of Fanny makes her look like a man in drag, which I agree was, astonishingly, An Actual Look for women at that time.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 15/01/2019 15:43

“La Rue was unquestionably a bloke”

To be fair, fanny certainly wasn’t unquestionably a woman judging by her appearance 😂

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 17/01/2019 10:41

Nice to see Fanny Haddock here today >waves

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 17/01/2019 10:42

RiverTam · 17/01/2019 11:02

hahahaha, I know which thread you meant that for, hilarious mix-up!

Deliriumoftheendless · 17/01/2019 11:08

Fear of Fanny starring Julia Davis is a good watch.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 17/01/2019 11:12

River must be my pink lady brain 😊

Delirium I had to google as title made me laugh so much. May have to watch and quite like Mark Gatiss!
