Trans umbrella expands to size of circus tent: #TransLooksLikeThis

Eye-opening Twitter thread that will drive old-fashioned gender dysphoriaists like Jane Fae & Munroe B insane has gone viral:

#TransLooksLikeThis

Apparently, there's no longer any criteria for calling yourself trans:
Trans people who don’t experience any dysphoria ARE STILL TRANS. Trans people who don’t want to/can’t transition ARE STILL TRANS.

You don't even have to feel ANY discomfort with your body or birth sex:
i’m afab and i present as such. i like my tits. i wear makeup. i embrace my outward femininity and i still know that i am genderqueer. nonbinary doesn’t mean white, skinny, androgynous.

Non-binary and proud. No gender dysphoria here. Using my tits and clit and ovaries whenever I damn please, and presenting however I want.

Talk about non-binary bedlam! It's a total free-for-all.

All hail Robespierre. The Reign of Appropriation, Infiltration, Colonization Redefinition & Inevitable Disintegration into Total Meaningless & Absurdity has begun!

"size of circus tent" 😁 Can't wait for the fall-out!

Vegilante · 06/01/2019 19:39

Needsleep I think we're beyond that now. Soon it'll be:

Don't bother, they're here.

Thingybob · 06/01/2019 20:09

I shouldn't laugh but to me Translookslike is average looking people trying to look seductive. What they don't get is that is that no one is attracted to a navel gazing ego who spends hours looking at themselves in a bathroom mirror and taking selfies. Oh and the pose where they put their leg onto the basin just looks bloody ridiculous!

The average person would find you much more attractive and lovable if you stopped looking in the mirror and cleaned the bloody bathroom instead.

NotMeOhNo · 06/01/2019 20:12

Wow. He/They=prostrate yourself to me, cur! What a way of forcing people around you to walk on eggshells!

PreseaCombatir · 06/01/2019 20:19

Amazing...

BesmirchingMotherhood · 06/01/2019 20:33

Put your fucking tongues away!

Vegilante · 06/01/2019 20:35

Thingy The average person would find you much more attractive and lovable if you stopped looking in the mirror and cleaned the bloody bathroom instead.

I had the same thought, but you said it so much better!

Fuck me, can only the beautiful people look ‘seductive’ (whatever that means). This is such a spiteful, judgey post and one of the many reasons I struggle with this particular topic on Mumsnet.

I'm sorry you find me judgemental and I wasn't knocking people for being average looking but I really don't get it. Why does anyone, average or beautiful looking, want to look seductive (other than occasionally in the bedroom)?

NoseringGirl · 06/01/2019 20:59

Back when I was a teenager, most of those people would've identified as goth.
There was a lot more patchouli and a lot less hormone treatments.
It must make it increasingly difficult for people with gender dysphoria to be taken seriously and get the support they need.

titchy · 06/01/2019 21:01

If that's the case I think we should all identify as trans....

ToeToToe · 06/01/2019 21:01

In all seriousness, one of the posts on that # - by someone who is clearly female: "I present my gender in a feminine way, but I'm still trans, I'm non-binary!" and is wearing an "End Gender" T shirt.

Female, feminine, trans, and nonbinary - but wants to end gender - all at once. This is what happens when kids have too much time on their hands and on social media.

AngryAttackKittens · 06/01/2019 21:03

Great, so everyone is non-binary. Feminists have been trying to point out that gender roles are bollocks for quite some time now...

ToeToToe · 06/01/2019 21:04

Grin Ah. those were the days... when we didn't give kids hormone therapy for playing with the wrong toys, or wearing the wrong clothes...

PineappleSunrise · 06/01/2019 21:05

Come back, steampunk. All is forgiven.

AngryAttackKittens · 06/01/2019 21:07

I think we need an emo revival to address the youth subculture aspect of this. Get the kids refocused on music so they can attach the totally normal and age appropriate urge to have dangerhair and funky clothes to that instead of "gender".

TimeLady · 06/01/2019 21:07

Yep, rainbow-coloured goths.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 06/01/2019 21:16

I does seem to be subculture obsessed with taking selfies rather than music or art.

FeministCat · 06/01/2019 21:48

So much navel-gazing indeed. And by this yes we would all be trans but it would require us all to acknowledge gender is actually anything more than make believe. Make believe that depends on time, place, culture...

ZuttZeVootEeeVro I have never appreciated until now how much I had influences like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and heck even the Beastie Boys in my youth as I do now. I was too busy trying to decide if I should get Alice in Chains Rooster on tape so I could listen to it on my Walkman, or on CD so I could listen to it on my new CD player. And also doing things like training after school for the non-gender conforming sport of wrestling, or running track and playing ringette, or drawing and painting which was a big passion of mine. Being a young girl and teenage girl has lots of pitfalls too, but my expression came from deciding I was going to wear all black for a year, not declaring myself genderqueer, non-binary, trans....

Voice0fReason · 06/01/2019 21:50

#TransLooksLikeThis
Ben (used to be Bennifer). HE/HIM or XE/XIR. My pronouns are NOT preferred, they're required. Transmasc Genderflux Demiboy Panromantic Asexual Faerie. And VALID. Respect My Existence Or Expect My Resistance.
Ha!

i’m afab and i present as such. i like my tits. i wear makeup. i embrace my outward femininity and i still know that i am genderqueer. nonbinary doensn’t mean white, skinny, androgynous.
So female, presents as female, but still trans!

Amazing hashtag to show the full extent of the circus tent.

ToeToToe · 06/01/2019 21:53

FeministCat - me too! I can actually remember the decision to "wear all black" - it was a thing. Slightly less damaging than binders and puberty blockers, fortunately.

After all the gender-bending in the pop culture of my teens, I find this pretty whole genderqueer thing laughable.
