Trans umbrella expands to size of circus tent: #TransLooksLikeThis

Eye-opening Twitter thread that will drive old-fashioned gender dysphoriaists like Jane Fae & Munroe B insane has gone viral:

#TransLooksLikeThis

Apparently, there's no longer any criteria for calling yourself trans:
Trans people who don’t experience any dysphoria ARE STILL TRANS. Trans people who don’t want to/can’t transition ARE STILL TRANS.

You don't even have to feel ANY discomfort with your body or birth sex:
i’m afab and i present as such. i like my tits. i wear makeup. i embrace my outward femininity and i still know that i am genderqueer. nonbinary doesn’t mean white, skinny, androgynous.

Non-binary and proud. No gender dysphoria here. Using my tits and clit and ovaries whenever I damn please, and presenting however I want.

Talk about non-binary bedlam! It's a total free-for-all.

All hail Robespierre. The Reign of Appropriation, Infiltration, Colonization Redefinition & Inevitable Disintegration into Total Meaningless & Absurdity has begun!

The thing about other youth subcultures, like goth or emo, is that hair can be dyed back to its original color, and piercings taken out, if you get tired of it or change your mind. Humans aren't starfish - when we cut bits off they don't grow back, and the impact of massive doses of artificial hormones can't be easily undone either, not to mention to possibility of cancer.

So yeah, can we please come up with a less dangerous and permanent thing for adolescents to identify and experiment with? This stuff used to be fun...

IShouldBeSoLurky · 06/01/2019 22:07

Surely taking the piss. Surely?

Taking selfies rather than making music or art -- EXACTLY.

They've decided that their existence as a human being is a fascinating, compelling gender performance we should all pay attention to, especially if we're so ho-hum boring that we've accepted being called what we were called at birth.

It's safe to say that they view being "cis" the same way that someone 20 years ago would view a person saying that they planned to simply do the same job as their dad and their dad's dad and their dad's dad's dad. That same sense of "why would you just take on the role you're assigned, instead of exploring the wider world?"

They truly believe that renaming themselves is reinventing their existence, and that what they call themselves changes their daily life from dull normality to a brave everyday struggle against the forces of intolerance (which they should, naturally, be praised for).

I'm going to flood that hashtag with pictures of Thomas the Tank Engine and friends. squints myopically

Vegilante · 06/01/2019 22:13

How 'bout we get the youngins to bring back shoegazing? Then they could flood social media with pictures of themselves showing off their foot ware & toe rings. And they wouldn't have to worry what their faces look like since they'd remain hidden. Bet PUMA would be sponsor a whole campaign!

I'm loving Miss Lemon. (Poirot). I hadn't marked her down as trans but now I think about it....

NothingOnTellyAgain · 06/01/2019 22:19

I am getting a very lively ad for 'all Gay cruises' coming up on MN suddenly, not sure what I've done to get that but beats the knickers ones I get so often...

If I ID as a gay man I can totally go, right?

TimeLady · 06/01/2019 22:20

Oh, that made me chuckle. Do it. Please.

Vegilante · 06/01/2019 22:26

Seriously, everyone, I posted this not to poke fun of the people showing the world that #TransLooksLikeThis nowadays, but because of the implications the new trans circus tent has for public policy & law. There's no way to give special, protected status under the law to a group that can't be defined, & includes basically everyone. The entire TRA movement is being hoist on its own petard. Most of us mean terfies are laughing about that turn of events, not at the kids.

Ben looks like, well, a fairly standard, young white man. Is this a wind up? Or is it the next 'logical' step? I am perplexed.

Beamur · 06/01/2019 22:31

It's impossible to detect satire from someone's reality ...
I'm getting the gay cruise ads too, alternating with asking me if I want to date older women. I'm not in either demographic. I don't think...

AngryAttackKittens · 06/01/2019 22:32

My cynical side says that some very nasty people in politics understand very well that a group that cannot be defined also cannot be protected, legally speaking, and that they're supporting this loosening of categories and definitions for that reason.

PineappleSunrise · 06/01/2019 22:32

I definitely think there are a few people on the wind-up on that hashtag. But - and this has been the criticism all the way along - how can you actually tell, when the whole ideology is about individual feelings and perceptions of un-definable genders?

Cue some outraged shouts of "how dare you, you're not truly trans!" met with, "how dare YOU, telling me how I FEEL..."

LangCleg · 06/01/2019 22:47

Could that be the same bunch hoping for a no deal Brexit that would make it easier to walk away from ECHR?

Ereshkigal · 06/01/2019 22:48

Isn't that Ben Shapiro?

TinyRick · 06/01/2019 22:57

IShouldBeSoLurky

Yeah, that's someone taking the piss out of Ben Shapiro, a well-known critic of the TransAgenda.

It seems to be the absolute worst to be 'c*s and het' nowadays. So boring amirite?

And I have seen plenty of trans people sneering at the 'c*ssies' and regarding anyone 'not trans' as the enemy Hmm

Ereshkigal · 06/01/2019 23:09

And I have seen plenty of trans people sneering at the 'cssies' and regarding anyone 'not trans' as the enemy

YY. For example a secret FB group linked to a certain Labour figure entitled "Down With C*s"

Vegilante · 06/01/2019 23:23

I wouldn't be surprised if Ben Shapiro's team posted that themselves. He seems to have a crew that scours the internet for the latest examples of wokeness run amok. And though his conservative politics are obviously not to the liking of most feminists, far from it, he's always struck me as having a pretty good sense of humour.

Also, Shapiro has been consistently out there in public with his head way above the parapet challenging transgenderism in an outspoken way. This has caused him to be relentlessly attacked, shouted down & no-platformed by SJWs. In a now-infamous TV appearance in 2015, he was also physically threatened by a brawny transwoman former soldier who said if Ben didn't STFU about trans matters she'd make sure Ben ended up in an ambulance:

“ToeToToe

In all seriousness, one of the posts on that # - by someone who is clearly female: "I present my gender in a feminine way, but I'm still trans, I'm non-binary!" and is wearing an "End Gender" T shirt.“

I’m lost. Can someone explain what this means? I thought trans gender people did believe in gender and just wanted to be/believed they were the other one? If we could “End Gender” (I don’t see how we can but if we could) what would there be to transition into? Sorry for my ignorance but I’m serious confused about what is being asked for here? I though that what trans gender people wanted was to be accepted as being the other gender?

AngryAttackKittens · 06/01/2019 23:31

In this case it's not you being ignorant, it's just that trans ideology doesn't make any sense. Trying to apply logic will just give you a headache.

ToeToToe · 06/01/2019 23:39

We're all lost Marshmallow it makes no sense at all.

It's like but with words, not numbers Grin

PencilsInSpace · 06/01/2019 23:58

Half of them look the same.

RedemptiveCrocodile · 07/01/2019 00:00

Word salad is my favourite description of such paragraphs.

Ingredients:

  1. At least two mentions of gender
  2. A demand for preferred pronouns (several choices on offer at many local establishments such as Facebook or Twitter)
  3. A casual mention of your "quirky" style that conforms to many other "quirky" styles available (thus proving your specialness and interesting personality) such as wearing bowties, dying hair unnatural colours, wearing oversized glasses (glass optional), posing in 50s rockabilly dresses with toes pointed inward, artfully exposed tattoos and/or facial peircings, a liberal use of foundation either 2 shades too dark or too light for your face, brandishing a whip. (Using/mentioning more than 3 of these ingredients at one time is inadvisable, plus it would probably make your Twitter bio too long anyway)
  4. Include words like queer theory, enby, trans inclusion, sex work and love. Other words are available but love is required at all times.

Method:

  1. Blindly choose from the above list of ingredients
  2. Add a few verbs, adverbs and adjectives (Mad Libs are best for helping you decide)
  3. Create a suitable selfie to enhance your online sense of self importance
  4. Stir, stir, stir! Enjoy that sweet taste of self righteousness as you force it down everyone else's throats!
NotTerfNorCis · 07/01/2019 00:04

I've started reading Julia Serano's Whipping Girl. Surprised to see Serano included masculine women and cross dressing men under the trans umbrella. This was written years ago.

MarshmallowSnowDon · 07/01/2019 00:11

Right OK... I’ll ask another question then. As far as I understand it, if the government “abolished gender”, I.e if they changed the law so that there was, legally speaking, no such thing as gender, then how could laws against discrimination on the grounds of gender even remain in force? For discrimination on the grounds of gender to remain illegal gender would surely have to legally exist. That cannot be what these activists are asking for? There must be more to it than that.
