Posie is still there for me - the link in the OP works. For now.

????? What?
Genuinely confused now.

Is a woman's Christmas shopping now fair game for criticism??!!

And if so, are we doing too little, too much, not quite right, etc etc etc etc!

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/12/2018 01:13

Thanks all.

I hope someone like Andrew Gilligan picks this up and runs with it.

BubonicTheHedgehag · 19/12/2018 01:32

Yes, - e.g Mermaids being able to use UK police as their personal attack unit, setting a police force to make an actual visit to women (and also, writers of e.g. Father Ted!) who speak out in defence of women's rights.

ClingFilmApplications · 19/12/2018 02:01

The latest Mermaids video "I Know Who I Am" was produced in partnership with Merseyside Police.

If I didn't know better, I'd wonder if Susie Green isn't trying to make Posie into a martyr for the GC cause.

She needs to give this up now.

I'm betting it's the "Wobberly" video that's kicked this off. It WAS brilliant tbf. Grin

Bowlofbabelfish · 19/12/2018 04:31

There is a post a while back that says that in her TEDx talk green says that her child’s close friend while transitioning is now a key member of West Yorkshire police’s hate crime unit.

I haven’t seen the talk so I can’t verify this but if it’s true it does suggest there’s a link and that the relationship should be looked at more closely (anyone seen the talk who can verify?)

fidgetspinner555 · 19/12/2018 05:37

I'm appalled by this.

Posie, I'm happy to donate to your legal fees to sue both the Police and Susie Green.

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 19/12/2018 05:47

It's not too late but I think we're going to have to get out on the streets and encourage every decent person to join us and make our voices heard loud and clear.

Well, we've done it before & we can do it again.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 19/12/2018 06:47

Support for PP. Mermaids is a horrible organisation.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 19/12/2018 06:49

this feels like harassment and double standards

and yes, if Posie has got a case and wants to sue the fuck out of Susie Green and West Yorkshire Police I will cheerfully donate large slices of my hard earned.

just say the word lady.

Invisible1234 · 19/12/2018 07:03

I hope Posie has contacted The Times and Andrew Gilligan. I am really uncomfortable about how close the police are to Mermaids.

sackrifice · 19/12/2018 07:04

Oh no, not Dr Wobberly?

Won't this backfire yet again when more and more people realise the insanity of it all?

Does this mean the end of all satire?

heresyandwitchcraft · 19/12/2018 07:11

Flowers for Posie. WTF is going on with the police that they have time and resources to dedicate to what is essentially a “let’s criminalize people on the internet for having free speech so that our mates don’t get have their PR department mildly annoyed by people telling the truth instead of just repeating propaganda”, when there are actual crimes that need investigating?

Babygrey7 · 19/12/2018 07:12

Insane....

Was just wondering how Posie was

Madness, why can the police be summoned to intimidate her, yet they won't come for a burglary?

fidgetspinner555 · 19/12/2018 07:18

West Yorkshire Police are clearly abusing their power.

Solidarity to you Posie. This is not right and needs to be called out.

Bowlofbabelfish · 19/12/2018 07:55

Just point me to the crowdfunder...

Free speech, satire, cartooning and lampooning are all vital for a healthy society where dodgy behaviour can be exposed.

The press should be worried about this. They’ll come for them next, once they’ve established a precedent against people with few resources to defend themselves.

these cases have a strong public interest.

Ereshkigal · 19/12/2018 08:11

And as she says in the video, they said when she was doxxed and pictures of her children and their schools posted, her local police, who are interviewing her for this, said it didn't meet the definition of harassment so they couldn't do anything. Appalling misuses of power going on in general in relation to this issue.

It should concern everyone. What she says about freedom of speech is right. It's so important that all views are heard. They should stand or fall on their own merits or lack of them.

WallyTheWasher · 19/12/2018 08:33

I’m not on FB and I wish we knew more. It sounds like the Police are being used as personal security and are not as impartial as they should be.
Linehan received a harassment notice but it was reported in the press/by TRAs as a caution (more serious) so I’m sure this will be bigged up as her being arrested etc when it sounds like an interview under caution, a voluntary process, and I hope she takes a decent solicitor
The police have a fine line to tread between the law and the human rights act

ChewyLouie · 19/12/2018 08:56

Susie Green is coming across as a bully in a playground taking offence to the most innocuous comments. She is using her connections to West Yorkshire police to cast them in the role of her enablers and is working on Merseyside next.
Can only think of one other person who acted with impunity knowing they had the police on their side. Where are investigative journalists in all of this- should be some who are able to expose this.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 19/12/2018 09:05

I'm so fearful that it is too late to stem the tide of trans ideology.

We need to make as many people aware of what happening as possible.

doctorbarbie · 19/12/2018 09:10

There was an article in the Guardian in August 2017 regarding West York Police investigating abusive messages Mermaids alleged they received so there has been a series of incidents linking the two.

The post up thread about the TED video is interesting.....

andyoldlabour · 19/12/2018 09:10

It was West Yorkshire police who were guilty of victim blaming in the child sex abuse scandals.

Bowlofbabelfish · 19/12/2018 09:14

The post up thread about the TED video is interesting.....

I havent watched the talk so I can’t verify if she said this, however I found the reference to it because I was sure I remembered people saying green had family/close friend connections to WYP. I’d actually thought I remembered that she’d said it was a close relative (ex in law or something?) but I can’t find a source to verify that. People with more time to google may wish to look.

The talk is available online (for now, anyway.) people do seem to be scrubbing their online presence though - someone may wish to save it. And transcribe it.

We have a few good transcribers on here - anyone up for it?
