Very disappointing. I can't believe we are back in the Middle Ages so comprehensively.
And no, using 'bleeder' is not "more inclusive" because it includes trans men. It is massively, massively reducing women to a (distasteful and historically considered 'impure') bodily function.

There’s so much colonisation of other people’s narratives and stories in this movement.

I know it’s cynical but I imagine much of the point of this campaign may have been to impose TRA language and categories onto refugee women. Because they like to believe that transness as it currently manifests in the West is a biological universal not a culturally specific phenomenon. So forcing their categories onto women from other cultures is a way for them to validate their narrative. And nothing is more important to TRAs than validating their narrative.

Whilst we (still) have a functioning NHS no-one should miss school because of painkillers, they will get them for free. On the other hand many girls may well miss school because the pain control available is inadequate. What we actually need is more research into endometriosis, adenomyosis etc, this may well be difficult once transpeople start complaining that the meagre research into these women’s health issues is not inclusive enough for them.
Campaigns to support women should not centre men, end of.
I doubt there would ever be a male sexual health campaign around condoms, that centres trans men.

They really do have contempt for women. Anyone who doesn't get on board with being called a bleeder or a menstruator is a troll! What total misogyny. And as was said many many times on the Twitter thread, you can be inclusive by referring to women, trans-men and non-binary people. Or if you really must, just "people" would do. Why there's a need to invent these dehumanising terms for women/girls I don't know.

I've never listened to The Guilty Feminist podcast, but I've seen them mentioned on here. They've been so patronising towards some women today on this issue. And they did the TRA thing of equating trans women with black women!!!

Couldn't agree more on “bleeders” being extraordinarily offensive when you know that asylum seekers are their core user group. Many of the women and girls they help will have witnessed bloodshed of a much more terrifying type.
Also agree re Prick News. The only time I had heard “bleeders” used, prior to bloomin Thinx having it on their website, was in gay clubs when i was in my teens and early 20s.

I only heard of it as in tv hospital or detective show, when someone has been shot or stabbed ‘emergency - we’ve got a bleeder! Quick ten units of (whatever flavour blood comes in)’

Oh disappointed in the Guilty Feminist.

None of these women get that an awful lot of us have been where they are now. It seems far more comfortable for them to disparage and patronise and imagine that they are on some higher moral plane.

I’m getting increasingly dubious about the whole concept of ‘period poverty’. Where women are too poor to afford sanitary products this is an outrage but the solution isn’t to make them rely on handouts, it’s to guarantee a decent standard of living, at least above the absolute poverty line, for all. I recognise handouts can be helpful while we don’t live in this world, but they also serve them unfortunate role of making the outrageous situation more liveable and stopping people feeling the need to do something/challenge at a policy level (see also food banks).

If a woman can’t afford sanitary products because she is a victim of economic and emotional abuse, then that is the issue to be tackled.

Period poverty seems to be about the terminally woke trying to jump onto a sexy issue so they can ignore the real, awful and deteriorating situation of so many of our sisters day to day.
