"
❤️Jane Austen was a Super Plus fan, Lizzie preferred a Mooncup + Emma didn't leave Hartfield without her Thinx. But some bleeders in the UK can't afford sanitary products, imagine the scandal at the ball!💃🏽 Donate to @bloodygood__ this Festive Period & help someone's #flowhoho❣️"

Very disappointing. I can't believe we are back in the Middle Ages so comprehensively.
And no, using 'bleeder' is not "more inclusive" because it includes trans men. It is massively, massively reducing women to a (distasteful and historically considered 'impure') bodily function.

Can I start referring to men as "standuppissers"?

One or two posts on the twitter thread claim it's a joke that's been taken the wrong way. I can't see the humour in it myself.

GreenHats · 10/12/2018 17:14

How is twitter ok with this?

VickyEadie · 10/12/2018 17:18

That's a thread that keeps on giving. I haven't seen a female roar of outrage like it in quite a while.

LaundryLaundryLaundry · 10/12/2018 17:29

Posh kids then. Evidently they've ever heard the term bleeder used in context, spoken with a regional accent, or they'd know it's ludicrous to use it this way. Insulting little wankers.

welshgendercrit · 10/12/2018 17:29

There are few things quite so satisfying as seeing someone rightfully handed their arse on a plate, however. And that Twitter thread's a masterclass in handing someone their arse on a plate.

Spot on. A couple of handmaidens trying to support her and everyone else eloquently tearing her to shreds.

I see that they do repeatedly use "babes" when directly addressing women and girls on their own threads.

Tossers.

Pennydrew142 · 10/12/2018 17:41

I’m not on twitter so I saw this and sent an email, firm and strong but not abusive ( obviously ) with my main point being I do not think erasing the words women and girls is either necessary or respectful and that I would not donate solely because they used the term, ‘bleeder’. I had never heard of this organisation before. How awful that the first time I hear of them, is using such a misogynistic dehumanising term. Then a snippy bitchy reply. Just wow.

FYI I regularly give to organisations like this, although never a refuge one, in both the UK & NZ. This is just rude and unprofessional

Hi there,

Thank you for alerting us to the fact that you will not be donating nor have you ever donated. We are an inclusive organisation and will continue to be. We are therefore not the organisation for you so no love (nor money) lost.

Kind regards

Gabby

littlecabbage · 10/12/2018 17:52

I’ve just joined twitter specifically to reply to this ridiculous tweet!

Neurotrash · 10/12/2018 17:52

They exclude women and girls.

VickyEadie · 10/12/2018 17:53

TO which email address should the rest of us send our messages, in order to explain to Gabby that your feelings are shared?

Pennydrew142 · 10/12/2018 17:56

Here it is:

[email protected]

Pennydrew142 · 10/12/2018 17:59

I’ve used this on behalf of my daughters- it’s a buy one give one thing

Popchyk · 10/12/2018 18:00

That is a very unprofessional reply.

The Centre For Innovation In Voluntary Action (CIVA) is the company that is funding the BloodyGoodPeriod stuff.

I wonder if CIVA has a view on:

a) How women and girls are referred to in the campaign

b) How members of the project respond to emails expressing legitimate concerns

Pennydrew142 · 10/12/2018 18:07

I regularly donate sanitary items to shelters for homeless people- my friend was homeless in her youth and it really doesn’t bear thinking about. There’s also a petition for those unaware, I might start another thread.

VickyEadie · 10/12/2018 18:08

I urge others to email using the address Pennydrew142 gave above.

Pennydrew142 · 10/12/2018 18:10

I don’t often email like that so I was having a brave moment... don’t think I’ll be emailing anyone else! I was just so blimin irate at being referred to as a ‘bleeder’ How gross! My daughter goes to a Girls school. Imagine if they were referred to that way in class! Knowing these girls they’d be a lot less polite than us!

picklemebaubles · 10/12/2018 18:15

I've emailed. We'll see.

rightreckoner · 10/12/2018 18:28

That's an obnoxious reply. She's not included me - she's labelled me a bleeder. She's excluded all women who like to be called women.

Pennydrew142 · 10/12/2018 18:33

rightreckoner

Exactly, she’s excluded me too. Does she really think refugees are worried about pronouns and inclusive fucking words?

She wrote again after I told her that her shitty attitude would be shared here. I’m not even gonna bother sharing it. It’s embarrassing how childish she is.

VickyEadie · 10/12/2018 18:34

Oh, I think you should share it, Penny!

Neurotrash · 10/12/2018 18:38

I find the term extremely degrading. It does make me think of those women and girls banished to cow sheds during their periods. And I feel it smacks of the hand maids tale. Like gestators, an empty vessel to produce babies in.

Here we are again; Orwell x brave new world x handmaidens tale.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 10/12/2018 18:43

Funny how defining “woman” as “adult human female” is “dehumanizing” and “reducing people to their genitals” but calling women “bleeders” (or “uterus bearers” or “vagina havers” etc) is not.

Innit.

And I donate pads etc to my local food bank and The Red Box Project so not I’m not getting upset about the ‘wrong’ issue.

Theperfectchangeling · 10/12/2018 18:45

Ugh. Bleeders. What a diminutive ‘woke’ pile of wank.

They can go fuck themselves.
And then, go fuck themselves again.

Please do share that response Penny! It’s time this kind of stupidity was exposed!
