Gender-fluid principal to be allowed to return to work

Some of you may have seen this story earlier in the year.

Basically Mr./Ms. Daniels declared him/herself gender-fluid, Bunce-style

The Huffington Post obviously declared him/her stunning & brave

www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/shannon-daniels-transgender-principal_us_5a832943e4b02b66c5128850

Daniels' letter declared him/herself as a 'wise river' with a name 'perfectly designating his/her fluid gender identity'.

www.documentcloud.org/documents/4368681-Letter-from-Principal-Daniels.html

Daniels reportedly changed her gender identity up to four times a day.

The children at school got quite confused and parents eventually declared that he/her would have to leave. www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2018/03/02/parents-declare-confidence-transgender-principal/odABhbh1ySVKo15ceedCWM/story.html

Now Mr Daniels has come to a settlement with the school district to be Mr. Daniels and 'he'. commonwealthmagazine.org/back-story/swampscott-agreement-deals-with-gender-fluidity/

He has also agreed not to change clothing during the school day, and to give at least 2 weeks notice of any future changes in his gender fluids.

This settlement is according to Howard Friedman, a civil rights lawyer proof that liberal, 70% Clinton-voting, Boston suburb Swampscott is horrifically conservative and bigoted. Swampscott should be more like 90% Clinton voting Boston suburb Brookline, which "has a reputation for being a pretty progressive, pretty forward-looking town.”, and also had a transgender principal.

Particularly offensive is the requirement that "a psychiatrist must certify Daniels’ fitness to teach."

This is apparently an offensive piece of transphobia to appease bigots, and there's obviously nothing about changing your clothes four times a day and turning your school into a circus that suggests any need for psychiatric evaluation.

"The children at school got quite confused and parents eventually declared that he/her would have to leave"

Sorry he/she. I apologise for mis-pronouning Mr/Ms 'wise river' Daniels.

I wouldn't apologise, Contrary Mary. How could any rational person be expected to keep up with that fruit loop?

VickyEadie · 05/12/2018 12:32

Something something mental health issue.

"... the petition faults Daniels solely on performance, alleging the principal created a toxic environment for students and staff, and failed to recognize mistakes or listen to parents and staff."

Popchyk · 05/12/2018 12:48

I can't imagine sending my child to a school where the principal has time to get changed four times in the day.

Because that looks like a school with wrong priorities to me.

HollowTalk · 05/12/2018 12:50

I would say that if a man was changing into women's clothes randomly throughout the day, there'd be a fair bit of wanking going on, too.

littlbrowndog · 05/12/2018 12:54

Haha true

andyoldlabour · 05/12/2018 12:55

How is any logical, sane person expected to take any of this seriously?

Lougle · 05/12/2018 12:55

Tbh, it's a bit of a non-story. The letter says that the children could use 'he', 'she', 'they' or 'Principal Daniels'. So the children weren't expected to change anything in how they referred to the Principal. The teacher is coming back to the school as a man, which is his natal sex. He's lost his Principal role, which seems to be a culmination of a list of complaints, so I think that this was just the icing on the cake.

Move on and give the person their privacy.

NetballHoop · 05/12/2018 13:11

@Hollow, sorry to be picky but... the man realises he's wearing women's clothes and gets changed into men's clothes at which point the woman realises she is in men's clothes and has to change back again.

So at no point is the man actually changing into women's clothing.

Hope that's all clear. Confused Grin

I'm sure you're right about the wanking though.

QuietContraryMary · 05/12/2018 13:15

"Move on and give the person their privacy."

We're discussing it now and then we'll move on, unless he does something else sill in the future.

It's hardly a 'non-story'. He came out not as transgender but 'me-gender' - this was too much even for Massachusetts, and they've said 'look mate, we don't mind you saying you are a woman or whatever, but there are limits'.

It's the placing of limits on gender-related narcissism that we are grappling with in all these threads....

In this case they've come to the conclusion that a man - actually scratch that, not a man, but the man young children were looking up to as a major authority figure in their lives - playing dress-up during the school day is a step too far.

Normally there is no such thing as 'too far' when gender insanity involved.

" the man realises he's wearing women's clothes and gets changed into men's clothes at which point the woman realises she is in men's clothes and has to change back again. "

No no, you have that wrong.

Everyone has a gender essence. This gender essence is ethereal and mysterious, but it is believed to be connected to dresses, tampons and My Little Ponies, and conversely to boxing, the colour blue and monster trucks. Anyway in rare cases your gender essence undergoes transmutation from one form into another. For example, when a man puts on his wife's knickers & cracks one out her gender essence transmutates into female.

Some people do not believe in transmutation of gender essence or even in gender essence at all! The split between the believers & deniers of transmutation occurred at the Council of Celestia in 2015, which followed the split on the grounds of gender essence at the Council of Pinky Pie, in 1994.

If I had a child in that school, I'd send them to an other school asap.

Children need a stable environment they can navigate. A major figure in the school changing his "identity" even just every two weeks or so, doesn't provide that.

I have no problem with eccentric people who like to wear extravagant clothes. But even just implying to the children that because of a change of clothes, this person is suddenly a different person (and I'd be very surprised if staff weren't bullied into using the pronouns of the week, even if the children aren't), is going to confused and upset them.

I've heard smaller children get major crises when their father shaves his beard off or grows a beard - children need to be taught that people can change in appearance and still stay essentially the same.

A person who changes clothes and then suddenly is adressed with different pronouns by the adults, is achieving the exact opposite.

Move on and give the person their privacy

This person played out their fetish/mental health issue/mid-life crisis/coersive control in public and involved children.

These cases need highlighting and discussing to counter the statement "This never happens".

AspieAndProud · 05/12/2018 14:36

If you want privacy don’t be an attention seeking narcissist.

Whatever sympathy I have for the gender dysphoric, I have zero for the ‘gender fluid.’

The whole concept makes a mockery of dysphoria.

I don’t believe you can change sex. I do believe some people feel they are trapped in the wrong body. They aren’t, but I can accept they feel that way.

But those who’s gender identity supposedly fluctuates on a day by day basis are just taking the piss.

PipGoesPop · 05/12/2018 14:37

Those poor kids. What an utter utter cunt.

R0wantrees · 05/12/2018 14:38

Move on and give the person their privacy

No, the important discussion is because the person concerned is a headteacher.
It is very important to recognise the imbalance/abuse of power here.
All teachers are required to separate their personal lives/political beliefs etc from the position of influence and responsibility they have to the children under their care.

moimichme · 05/12/2018 14:40

That's true about the beards taking some time for children to adjust to, Hestia my father had a moustache. And how well will (even older) children in that school learn that it's what is inside that counts, and not just appearances, when given a 'role model' like this?

HestiaParthenos · 05/12/2018 14:41

People who want their privacy don't drag their personal gender feelings into the public.

It is perfectly possible to dress in a way you personally don't find aesthetically appealing, comfortable, or both.

Women do it all the time in order to get and keep jobs.

This principal can do it too.

andyoldlabour · 05/12/2018 14:42

@PipGoesPop,

Sadly you are wrong he has a penis Grin

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 05/12/2018 14:42

It's being held up as evidence of trans people being treated unfairly. So it is right that that narrative is challenged.

Childrenofthestones · 05/12/2018 14:44

Lots of young boys don't have a male role model in their lives to look up to and very often wont see a male roll figure to aspire to until they get to High School by which time they are often lost to gang culture and that is the reason that they are desperately Seeking more men to enter early years teaching.
I wonder what this will tell young boys about their place in the world?

littlbrowndog · 05/12/2018 14:44

Move on
That’s what the police say when there’s a bit of a rammy
