A long-winded way to day 'keeping in with the in-crowd but still, not a term I'd come across before.

“The issue of transgenderism is leading to some very strange bedfellows.”

I think it’s because the Trans arguments are so utterly preposterous that most people struggle to agree with them.

I believe the Earth is round - so does Steven Yaxley-whaeverhisnameis.
I believe the sun rises in the morning and sets in the evening without the need of human sacrifice.
So does Katie Hopkins.
If I like an article they may write on these subjects, I may agree with it but it doesn’t change my opinion of them.

Incidentally, I do wish that Mr. Yaxley-Wotsit didn’t keep calling himself Tommy Robinson: I’m old enough to remember the Tom Robinson Band and it’s very confusing!

welshgendercrit · 02/12/2018 13:56

The censorship by left wing websites as well on any gender critical comments that are made on trans articles also gives the impression that it is a minority view. People are being tricked into submission.

LibDem Newswire does that and it's infuriating. To my knowledge The Times doesn't, judging by the large numbers of gender-critical comments under its regular articles on trans issues and the number of recommendations they get. Too often The Guardian doesn't even allow comments under articles on this subject, so I've yet to be censored by them.

Tanith: "I do wish that Mr. Yaxley-Wotsit didn’t keep calling himself Tommy Robinson".

Tut tut. Are you deadnaming Tommy Robinson? Didn't you know that was LITERAL VIOLENCE?

Tanith · 02/12/2018 14:06

Is he Trans now?! Shock

hackmum · 02/12/2018 14:09

Is he Trans now?!

Yaxley-Lennon coming out as trans is something I would pay to see.

Still, these rules are confusing, aren't they - surely if deadnaming is bad in relation to trans people, it's bad in relation to everyone?

Badmoonsarising · 02/12/2018 19:10

As an antidote, this made me laugh - its a reply to Arielle Scarcella’s recent youtube video. Poor Arielle!

Now I have a visual to go with the ear worm! Grin

Can I go off on a tangent here? What is the deal with him calling himself Tommy Robinson if that’s not actually his name? What’s that all about?

AngryAttackKittens · 02/12/2018 22:21

I think it’s because the Trans arguments are so utterly preposterous that most people struggle to agree with them.

Indeed, and I'd add that it's also because some TRA positions are so absurd, and the things they're demanding in terms of policy changes so clearly dangerous, that a lot of people are convinced that either nobody is really taking those positions/demanding those changes, or if they are they represent some sort of lunatic fringe that won't be listened to by anyone important.

Problem is, that "lunatic fringe" represents the only people who the government etc are listening to.

LangCleg · 02/12/2018 22:23

This. I think if you live in a non-woke area, as I do, that's what everyone thinks. They scoff, it's so ludicrous.

AngryAttackKittens · 02/12/2018 22:26

Pretty much. I wish I'd recorded my first attempt to explain the concept of ladypenis to a relative, they were convinced I must be taking the piss.

"But nobody actually believes that."

"But they do, Auntie Whatsit, honest."

"But that's stupid"

"I know!"

"But surely nobody actually believes it, though."

AspieAndProud · 02/12/2018 22:27

The guy who wrote an article about how he dressed up as a lesbian, to hit on Lesbians!

The man’s a trendsetter!

AspieAndProud · 02/12/2018 22:50

He took the name of a football hooligan hero of his.

RepealTheGRA · 03/12/2018 08:09

Oh. Nice. Still confused about why Confused

Exactly that. That is why there’s no public outcry. It’s so ridiculous people think it’s something made up by the far right and it’s not actually happening.

It’s why the petition signatures are clustered around ‘woke’ areas. People are only waking up once they’re being forced to by encountering the real life effects of this insanity.

AspieAndProud · 03/12/2018 09:02

Hard to present yourself as a ‘working class hero’ when your name sounds like the captain of David Cameron’s Quidditch team.

Hahahahaha thanks for clearing that up!

NothingOnTellyAgain said

"toby young is an absolute twat.

just had to get that out of my system!"

Yes, but for now he's your absolute twat.

Compare what he saying to what your political hero's, you know , the ones youve held in esteem are currently saying on all this.

If I'm honest, I spent at least a year getting emails from a friend warning me about all this and responding by telling them not to be such a drama lama and it was only some stupid student politics that would blow over.
