Uni of Hull to name building after Jenni Murray. You can probably guess the rest

"@UniOfHull As a Trans student, can I ask why I'll soon be forced to attend lectures in a theatre named after somone who doesn't believe I am a woman???? "

"Just heard @UniOfHull, the Uni I study at and love, may name a building after somebody who has been condemned by many trans people as transphobic.

This could be a big mistake and I’d urge they reconsider.

Trans women are women.
Trans men are men.
Trans rights are human rights. "

Buckle up - here we go again!

I do not agree with men can be women and vice versa. I think the point here is that you don’t need to outwardly say it,

No woman publicly said that transwomen aren't women before they started to demand access to our showers, changing rooms and toilets, and to be put in women's prisons, places where women want privacy and/or are in need of safety from males.

It was transactivists who forced us to say, again, again and again, that males are not women.

Back when there was only some transsexuals and they only used women's facilities if they could pass as women, no one felt a need to point out that they aren't actual, real women.

That's only changed because nowadays, transgender males, most of whom still have their penis and intend to keep it, want access for themselves and their penises to womens spaces.

VickyEadie · 01/12/2018 16:17

I cannot be accused of hate like every single one of you.

"Hate", though...

Love, we've been repeatedly told to 'die in a fire' by TRAs (as well as being threatened with rape, others sorts of violence, etc), so us saying we think a man who reckons he's a woman shouldn't get upset about a lecture theatre being named after a woman doesn't even register on our radar as "hate".

HestiaParthenos · 01/12/2018 16:19

We don't have bollocks, dear. That's, you know, rather the point.

I love your sense of humour. Very to the point.

HestiaParthenos · 01/12/2018 16:23

I cannot be accused of hate like every single one of you.

Except that apparently you hate us enough to want to silence us all the while males carry their penises into spaces where we want to have privacy?

You may feel morally superior because the job of physically harming us is done by others and you don't have to get your hands dirty and not really have any more negative feelings towards us than a massive lack of respect and empathy in order for you to harm us massively with your vote and talking and actions ...

But don't you think your god is going to see through the lies to tell to yourself?

Just asking, most religious people tell me god knows everything. I'd figure he'd also see how women are raped in the prison showers they are forced to share with males.

BettyDuMonde · 01/12/2018 16:25

My knickers are a bollock free zone.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 01/12/2018 16:28

I love Philip Larkin but the IRONY of someone thinking it's more of a problem for the lecture theatre to be named after Jenni Murray due to her supposed 'hate' than for an entire building to be named after Larkin Shock

It's almost as if there is a MASSIVE STINKING DOUBLE STANDARD, isn't it?

All the buildings named after racists, misogynists, anti semites, that's all fine apparently. Can't have anything named after an assertive, independently thinking woman, though.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 01/12/2018 16:29

'I cannot be accused of hate like every single one of you.'

I hereby accuse you of hate. You are coming across as a misogynist, which is Greek for someone who hates women.

HestiaParthenos · 01/12/2018 16:29

... and I think god would also see how your silencing of women who speak out against males in women's prisons, would have contributed to enabling those rapists.

I don't know, if I was religious, I'd think a lot harder about the potential consequences of my actions.

But I guess you are a Christian and Jesus died so you can go to heaven even though you knowingly contributed to a way of thinking that ultimately ends up harming women so massively.

I sometimes wonder if Jesus regrets his sacrifice, seeing as some people use it just as a "Get free out of hell" card and behave much worse than they'd dare to, otherwise.

Ah, but I forget, Christian religion is patriarchal and doesn't care about women ...

Well, what about the husbands of those women who now are victims to voyeurism, sexual harassment and rape in spaces where males used to not be allowed? How do you think they feel when their wife isn't pure anymore?

What about the fathers whose virginal daughters are raped, depriving them of their valuable property?

Don't you at least feel bad for them?

HestiaParthenos · 01/12/2018 16:31

Well, that's patriarchy. I am not even surprised anymore, sadly.

PositivelyPERF · 01/12/2018 16:50

but I cannot be accused of hate like every single one of you. Actually, just admythaf you don’t think people can change sex is considered hate, the difference is, we aren’t using religion to cower behind. You take about posters ‘hiding’ behind their computers, while you hide behind religion. You haven’t told your friend that you don’t believe that they can change sex, because you’re too scared to acknowledge your hypocrisy. Do you nod along when they say they are a woman? You’re lying by omission and that’s a cowardly sin.

PositivelyPERF · 01/12/2018 16:51

*admythaf = admitted that

Godloveseveryone1 · 01/12/2018 16:59

I’m a female myself so please enlighten me on how can I hate women when I am one?? I want the best for everyone not just women. I think true feminism of equality has been lost in a radicalised society where all men should be abolished and even when embracing their feminine desires.
PSA if you are upset by me accusing you of hate it’s because you probably are.

Godloveseveryone1 · 01/12/2018 17:01

Also I have spoken openly with the tweeter and they fully know my stance. But I love them as a person and choose to rise above judgment and live my own life. I am not hiding behind anything, I am open and honest, without offending anyone. The lines between opinion voicing and being insulting have been incredibly blurred in today’s society.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 01/12/2018 17:07

'I’m a female myself so please enlighten me on how can I hate women when I am one?'

It's not difficult to be part of a group and to have internalised the message that that group is lesser. I don't know what you think needs explaining there.

AppleKatie · 01/12/2018 17:08

It's never dull in 'ull

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 01/12/2018 17:11

' The lines between opinion voicing and being insulting have been incredibly blurred in today’s society.'

Given that you came along to Mumsnet just to insult us, I think you need to check out the bit in the Bible about motes and beams. (It's Matthew 7 1-5 if that helps.)

TopBitchoftheWitches · 01/12/2018 17:12

Has anyone told the student in the op that the world does not revolve around them and their feelings. That there are other people in the world too ?

derxa · 01/12/2018 17:14

What a bloody bonkers situation. I don't have anything pithy or witty to say about it.

howlsmovingcastle84 · 01/12/2018 17:15

To quote Fraiser- "Copernicus called and you are not the centre of the universe"

derxa · 01/12/2018 17:17

But I love them as a person and choose to rise above judgment and live my own life. I am not hiding behind anything, I am open and honest, without offending anyone. What has that to do with the price of fish?

ChewyLouie · 01/12/2018 17:19

Godloveseveryone you sound like a loyal friend and with your view of the posters here, I think it is courageous of you to post. I’m saying this gently and kindly, your posts are rather naive and carry misplaced hate. I wish you all the best but I sense that you have been brainwashed into the current trans cult. Take care of yourself.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/12/2018 17:20

a person who has outwardly shown hate towards a particular group of people will soon have a legacy at the university.

What exactly do you think JM said which has 'shown hate' towards any group?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 01/12/2018 17:23

am open and honest, without offending anyone

Well youve offended me

You said people on here have football sized bollocks

Very rude

HestiaParthenos · 01/12/2018 17:24

It's not difficult to be part of a group and to have internalised the message that that group is lesser. I don't know what you think needs explaining there.

That, and also, there's no guarantee that anyone in a virtual space who says they are a woman is actually a woman.

There is this part of the Bible where it says to recognize them by the fruits they bear, or something the like.

I mean, if we all bowed to people with misogynist opinions just because they claim to be women ...

Oh wait. That isn't as hypothetical as I'd like it to be. It is what is happening in politics.

Damn.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 01/12/2018 17:25

Thats a lovely thing to say chewy

I think it is courageous of you to post

But i dont think its courageous at all
